Review: Kombo Beach Hotel, Gambia Tijdens onze kerst- en nieuwjaarsvakantie verbleven we in het Kombo Beach Hotel in Gambia. We hadden hoge verwachtingen van dit hotel, mede dankzij het positieve contact dat we voorafgaand aan ons verblijf via WhatsApp hadden gehad. Het hotel bood ruime en "luxueuze" kamers (naar Gambiaanse normen), wifi overal, een kluis, koelkast, airconditioning, directe toegang tot het strand, en een zwembad met glijbanen. Voor onze vakantie met twee tieners leek dit ideaal en zorgeloos. Helaas begon onze vakantie met een teleurstelling. Bij aankomst op 25 december om 20.30 uur kregen we te horen dat we weliswaar overdag van de geboekte services konden genieten, maar dat onze kamers zich in een ander hotel op ongeveer 200 meter afstand bevonden. Deze aangeboden kamers waren eenvoudig en ontbeerden het comfort van de gekozen kamers: klein, geen kluis, geen airco, geen koelkast,... en zoals eerder genoemd op 200 meter afstand. Na overleg en met steun van onze gids uit Gambia, verkregen we op de laatste dag van ons verblijf een korting van 30%, wat redelijk leek. Het Kombo Beach Hotel op zich heeft potentie om een goed hotel te zijn, mits ze zich aan hun boekingen houden. Het hotel is schoon, het ontbijt was uitstekend, maar het middag- en avondeten in de all-inclusive formule was wisselend van kwaliteit en keuze (soms koud). Het oudejaarsdiner was wel echt top. De drank in de all-inclusive formule was echter een fiasco. De koelkasten konden de vraag niet bijhouden, waardoor we vaak warme dranken moesten drinken, glazen waren schaars, ijsblokken ontbraken vaak, en er waren geregeld tekortkomingen in de all-inclusive drankselectie. De frisdrank van het merk "Bon" was verschrikkelijk slecht, waardoor onze kinderen de hele vakantie water dronken. Wij volwassenen waren genoodzaakt om eerst te kijken of de drank gekoeld was voordat we iets durfden te nemen. Het personeel was wel erg vriendelijk en behulpzaam, zoals we gewend zijn van Gambia. Samenvattend, het Kombo Beach Hotel kan een goed hotel zijn als ze hun boekingen respecteren en verbeteringen aanbrengen in hun all-inclusive drankenservice. Voor nu was onze ervaring gemengd, met zowel hoogte- als dieptepunten.

I went to Gambia for the first time and spent the week staying at Kombo Beach Resort. I was very impressed by the general manager, Victor, during the time of my stay and it's clear that he has a significant role at the resort. He was highly professional, hardworking and ensured that we as guests were taken care of - not a day went by without him checking in and doing his best to make our stay more comfortable. Most of the staff made an impression on me during my stay; the two Indian chefs were very nice and it was lovely to eat their tasteful food every day, the man assisting in the fitness center was very kind, knowledgable and helpful (we went in there every day and he would give us new exercises to try depending on what we wanted to work on), and lastly the security guards at the beach were very professional and nice. All of these people were a big part of making our stay so great. Additionally, the place is located by a beautiful and clean beach with very sweet beach dogs running around .

Special place to stay, beautiful beach and hotel with excellent musical events. The manager (Mr. Soares) was outstanding and went beyond what can be expected to take care of my daughter and I. Also we want to mention the Indian chefs and the excellent fitness instructor. We have booked our next holiday to this hotel already whilst still there.

Spent a truly relaxing and enjoyable week at this comfortable, clean and service minded hotel. Thanks to General Manager Victor Soares and restaurant manager Madeline Jallow F8b and staff members for excellent service throughout the week. Can truly recommend this place 🌟

We loved our stay at the resort! Everything is perfect. Food is good, rooms are perfect clean thanks to Kaddy Jammeh from housekeeping. She made the most beautiful things with towels on our beds. Thank you! The swimmingpool is very great too. The slides are very nice for kids!

Kombo Beach is a beautiful wonderful Gambian Experience. All staff members are friendly and embrace the happy atmosphere and Sunshine that you so hope for whilst on a break. They are always looking to ensure your day is wonderful. Linda at the bar and ‘Magic’ (waiting staff ) love to smile, chat and even dance with you during the evening entertainment. Both always went above and beyond and you can see the pride and passion in the service they deliver. Our room was immaculate and looked after by Yah Yah …. Thank You. He was friendly, polite and we are hoping that he will be recognised as an Employee of the Month very soon . So deserved. You can chill on the beach or by the pool or get involved in daily activities such as yoga, circuits and water Aerobics with Apollo staff making it fun Kombo Beach is made complete by General Manager Victor Soares what a kind , thoughtful man he is . Always present to get to know guests and ensure their experience is nothing but Magical . Thank You Victor we will definitely be back..

The Gambia is a great vacation destination. Lots of places of interest and the people are the nicest I’ve met in the world. The Kombo beach resort is a great place to stay , its location is right on a beautiful beach.It’s just undergone a refurbishment. When we arrived it was my wife’s birthday and they made a cake for her and sang her happy birthday . The room maid made our room up everyday with a decoration on the bed. Special mention to the manager Victor C Soares who went out of his way to make sure we had a great stay , thank you. We will be back.
