The owner/hostess was incredibly welcoming. The location is excellent, being very close to Nanjing Road and a subway station, which makes getting around super convenient. A huge plus is the abundance of fantastic food options nearby. Also, for Shanghai's famous butterfly pastries (Hudiesu), you'll need to queue up as early as 7:30 AM, but you can usually get them within an hour, so it won't interfere with your daytime plans.

I tend to be quite tolerant but this place have many problems and I will tell them: No internet! The staff don't help if you don't have chinese number At midnight a person enter to the hotel doing a lot of noise and screaming and wake me up The room smells like a sewer and are many sewer flys in all the room All in the room is old even the noisy air conditioning Is much better a hostel for the half of the price, avoid this place if you don't want have a bad time like me

Not suitable for foreigner

I knew the room was old when I booked it, so I was prepared. However, I wasn't expecting the steep stairs. The room also had a half-floor partition, with the ceiling height only a few centimeters higher than the door. These were understandable, considering the price is relatively low for central Shanghai. However, the room wasn't soundproof, and walking upstairs felt like the floor was shaking. The International Hotel across the street was quite noisy, but with both windows closed, it wasn't a big deal. Those with sensitive skin should be cautious. However, every time I opened the window, a lot of dust flew through. The bathroom window was quite large, so I had to close it every time I went. I used a paper cup to brush my teeth, and there were no water bottles. When I tried to boil water, the spout was completely rusty and unusable. The owner helped carry my suitcases up and down the stairs. There are plenty of delicious restaurants nearby, and transportation is also very convenient.

The location is excellent. Close to Narodnaya Square. Everything is close by, including the metro and the pedestrian street. But the hotel itself needs a thorough cleaning: the rooms are old, and the staircase is very narrow and uncomfortable. The entire hotel, starting with the reception desk, makes you want to clean everything. The owner doesn't speak a word of English or Russian. She seems to think that the louder she speaks, the more understandable tourists are. We communicated through a translator. The beds were clean, and the towel was small and narrow. We left the room on check-out day. We told the owner, "We're taking our things out in case we don't make it back in time, but if we plan to be back before 12:00, don't clean the room." We left at 8:00, returned at 10:00, asked for the key, and she said the room had already been cleaned... We had to protest. Only then did she let us into the room.

A very convenient budget hotel 7 km from the airport, with a free shuttle bus. Attentive staff, highly recommended. A few downsides: several electrical outlets didn't work.
