Best Hotels near Shangri-la Railway Station, Shangri-La

I have stayed in many hotels in Shangrila old town over the past 12 years so have a little experience. Location: Close to the top dancing square but at the top of a very steep hill. It had rained so the stone street was VERY slippery. It is close to impossible to walk up the hill with suitcase. There is a 1/2 meter wide ***** of carpet that was laid down on the right side of the road going up the hill. It gave great traction, but unfortunately some non-thinking person had parked their electric cart directly on top of the carpet so you could not navigate it. I arrived at 6 PM and that electric cart was still sitting on the carpet in the same place the next morning at 9 AM. Trying to walk around the electric cart , but I did slip and fell to the ground. I would not come back to this hotel again, if there was any potential for any rain. The picture is of the morning after the rain had dried. When I booked my room, they did tell me that there was only one room remaining and it was for four people. I was solo but I booked it anyway. Unfortunately, I did not understand that there are four beds that are actually side-by-side touching each other. They are very very thin pads laid on top of a wooden platform. No way to get into or out of any bed without crawling back to the foot of the bed and going over the edge that way. It was the hardest sleeping service I have ever been on and got very little sleep. If I had my sleeping bag and camping mattress, I would’ve just slept on the floor. Won’t be back here again. The service people at the hotel were very nice. Offered to carry my bag up to my room on the third floor and the woman who provided the breakfast in the morning was very pleasant. Have no complain about the service just the beds in the access to the hotel. If it’s raining, make it a no go for me 

Fantastic modern minimalist room design but equipped with luxurious feel necessities. The Homestay is manage by a wonderful couple who willing to provides assistance to customers request about the amenities. Very clean and comfort since is nearly open in 2023, beside it located inside the Dukezong ancient town . Thank you for the wonderful stay and suggestion during my 3D2N stay with snowing happening early morning !!!! May both of them have great business and sure will return one day here

The hotel is very close to the ancient town gate - maybe a couple of minutes at most. It is also very well suited to access the airport and not to far from the train station. The young lady working on the reception desk was very helpful, friendly and kind. Being a solo English speaking traveller (I don't speak any Chinese), i really appreciated how helpful she was, going out of her way to use the translation app to communicate with me. And when I came back from my day walking around the lovely ancient town, she recognised me and handed me my paperwork for Tibet which I had earlier forgotten to collect. The hotel room I had was a good size with a nice big window looking towards the ancient town. The room and bathroom facilities were good although the carpet looked a little old and marked. The bed was comfortable and the bed linen was good. The room heaters were a novelty but warmed the room well. The electric plugs for the heater, electric blanket were a little worrying hanging near the bed and one electric wall socket (power point) was hanging off the wall. The hotels interior could do with some general maintenance to make it look better.

Value for money. Very good sleep in their Inn. Bed is comfortable and keep warm in the room even though with cold weather. Overall happy to stay here and the room rate is very reasonable. We have our dinner and breakfast near to the inn as the restaurant and Inn is the same owner.

The inn is Tibetan style, very unique. On the way to the hotel, you can see the vast prairie. There are tourists taking photos on the prairie, and there are many yaks. It is so beautiful. I originally wanted to find a quiet place. Have a good rest. This hotel is what I am looking for. The hotel owner is also very enthusiastic. Because Shangri-La has cooled down recently, it is still a bit cold, but there is a Tibetan stove in the lobby of the hotel. I sit around the Tibetan stove with the hotel owner when I have nothing to do. The surrounding feels great, and the room's insulation effect is also very good. The boss said that the prairie outside turns into a snowfield in winter. I'm looking forward to it. If I have time in winter, I will come again. Because the hotel is purely Tibetan style, the soundproofing effect is average. Because it is relatively close to the airport, you can still hear the planes taking off and landing. However, since there are not many flights, it does not have much impact. I am very satisfied with my stay in winter. Will stay again.

I am writing this review very seriously. I stayed in this B&B for two nights. I didn't take pictures very carefully, but the interior of the room is basically the same as the pictures on Ctrip. - Room type: Tharsis Twin Room ▫️ Let's talk about the areas that need improvement first. 1. Missing items: - No disposable shower cap [If girls don't want to wash their hair, it's inconvenient. - No full-length mirror [It should be said that there is only a small round mirror on the sink in the whole room, which is not very convenient for girls with more than two people. - No curtains [Because the B&Bs in the ancient city are very close to each other, if the B&B opposite starts to live in the future, there will be hidden dangers when changing clothes in the room. - There is no ventilation fan in the bathroom [The overall structure of the bathroom is too poetic... ignoring some practicality. 2. Unsatisfactory points: - Because of the special nature of this room type, the roof is very low. After the initial excitement, the problem of inconvenience in movement came out. If you are a little anxious, you will easily hit the beam. It will be suitable for families with children. Adults cannot stand upright at the edge of the room. - The door lock is smart, without double insurance - In terms of room cleaning, there are also common problems of B&Bs, which are not very professional and mainly deal with garbage - Summary: The owner told us that the soft furnishings of this B&B are all big brands and very stylish. But after living here, I feel that the consideration of details is still not in place, and more female guests can be invited to provide more warm suggestions ▫️There are also good places 1. Provide pick-up and drop-off service at the railway station 2. The address is located on the edge of the ancient city, and it is relatively quiet to rest at night 3. The floor heating is very powerful, but it needs to be turned on for a longer time to be effective 4. The overall decoration style is unique. If the itinerary is loose, you can sit on the rooftop to enjoy the scenery

Location is not far from major square. Room was well clean and equipped with floor heating, humidifier and oxygen generator which very recommended for high altitude so you could sleep comfortably. Owner was nice and help us with necessary information such transportation to Potatso National. Recommend

The inn is good. I will recommend it to my relatives and friends when I go back. I felt a little hyperactive at night. The lady at the front desk prepared free oxygen tubes, glucose and ibuprofen for us. She also recommended good antireactive medicine. In the morning, she also cared about whether I had a good rest. It made me feel at ease as it was my first time to travel to the plateau. Although the boss is a girl, she helped us carry our luggage.

The hotel is very peaceful and very beautiful!! The everything is wood! Beautiful wood! It lights up at night and the surroundings light up also. It’s it’s right at the heart of the ancient city so absolutely convenient. I loved it! The bathroom door will not close though but that’s okay.

A museum that combines the culture of the Shangri-La Tea Horse Road and the deeds of Mr. Ma Zhucai is organically integrated with the hotel. This is a small hotel with only more than 30 guest rooms. The ******* style is superimposed on the atrium design. It not only has a distinctive style, but also has natural light. The rooms are interactive but not interfering. There are not too many fancy designs in the room. The main feature is comfort and practicality without being cramped, and all kinds of configurations are available! The hotel thoughtfully sent seasonal alpine strawberries. These high-altitude strawberries are really ”powerful”, and the sweetness and fragrance hit your nose before you put them in your mouth! In short, it's a bit too much! Next time we come to Shangri-La, we will stay here again. It's really cost-effective! (Sorry, I only remembered to take pictures after checking in. The room was too messy [tears])
