"The location is right in the center of Dukezong Ancient Town. Taxis or Didi can drop you off directly at the entrance. The owner is really nice and friendly, and even gave us free rides to and from Shangri-La Station!
It's very close to Shangri-La Airport and Shangri-La Railway Station.
The heating in the room was excellent; it could warm up to 25 degrees Celsius indoors, and the floor was even heated! 👍🏻 There are also free TV and movies. The guesthouse has a unique design, and you can see Guishan Park right from your window.
I was wondering which photo studio to go to, so I asked the proprietress for recommendations (the owner actually took her wedding photos at this place 🫢). I tried ”Chunshu Xia” across the street and was very satisfied! If you're staying here, you should definitely consider it. The photos of the ancient town and prayer flags turned out amazing, and the photographer was professional! 👍🏻 The proprietress can even get you a discount!"
"The location is great. The guesthouse also offers a free shuttle service to/from the station and provides altitude sickness snacks. The breakfast was good too, lighter and less greasy than what you'd find outside. The guesthouse's design is also unique, making for a comfortable stay."
"Our stay was extremely memorable! Not only was the accommodation compound filled with animals as mentioned, the views were even more beautiful than expected. From the front reception, to the rooms, everything was well thought. The floor heating was a game changer, especially with the cold nights and mornings. The staff were extremely accommodating, always ready to answer any questions over WeChat. When we arrived and wanted to play with the Bernese mountain dogs, they immediately let them out to run about, letting us play with them for however long we wanted. In addition, the staff would give us many tips about where to go and what to eat. Lastly, I would like to mention Mike (麦克) who was super attentive to our requests. We even had tea almost everyday, with him being our personal brewmaster. Lastly, big shoutout to one of the owners that also brought his own yellow wine for us to try!! Unforgettable moment, 11/10 would recommend."
"We had a very warm welcome and the owners are very friendly and hospitalable. Very helpful and generous. The rooms are very clean and sufficiently equipped with oxygen and humidifier. The floor is already heated and even the shower area has a heater.I saw there is a steam iron and laundry room on the 2nd floor for shared use. The location is also very good in the midst of shops but away from too much noise. They also have parking area just outside their reception which was very convenient for us. They also have a coat area where you can borrow their shawls and hats! Their counter always have hot tea and sweets.
They will help you carry your luggage if you need help. They also have a motorcycle rental. We had some issues with our vehicle and they were helpful to find someone and also helped us!
In short, this inn is completed with everything you need that you may not want to leave! We extended from 1 night to 2 nights 🤭"
"Facilities: The decor is very ******* in style, with wood being the predominant material in the rooms. It might not have all the amenities of a typical hotel, but it's full of character.
Cleanliness: It's quite clean, though there's a faint, elusive yak smell in the hallways (not entirely sure, so beware if you're sensitive to smells); the owner has several cats, which is a huge plus for cat lovers.
Environment: The location is right within the ancient town, just over 900 meters from its center.
Service: The service is very attentive, and the breakfast is delicious. There were also foreigners staying here.
Free airport/high-speed train station/bus station pickup or drop-off: It seems this service is no longer available, but it's very close to the train station, about a 5 km taxi ride, so it won't cost much."
"My kids said they want to stay here every time we visit from now on. They loved being able to stargaze and whisper secrets from the upstairs room... The room was clean, and the bathroom had a great wet/dry separation. Downstairs, there's a small, quiet, and elegant library. Parking was convenient, and stepping out the door put us right into the ancient town. The owner was incredibly warm and provided excellent service; they even helped coordinate getting our takeout delivered after it was sent to the wrong address. We were just too rushed this time, but we'll definitely be back again and again!"
"We chose this little hotel for our final two nights in Shangrila during winter break. The location is perfect and is only a few minutes walk to the Old Town. There are many cafes and restaraunts nearby to grab a coffee or a snack.
Check in was super quick and we were shown to our room which was very spaceous and spotlessly clean. The bed was very comfortable and the room had smart control for the projector, lights and curtains. The staff had made sure the room was warm for our arrivel also.
The bathroom had a huge tub, shower and seperate toilet. Plenty of high quality warm towels as well as robes were provided.
The room also had an oxygen diffuser though we never suffered from altitude sickness whilst we were there.
Breakfast was buffet style along with local noodles. Tasty and filling before a day out.
The staff are so kind and helpful here with plenty of recommendations. They also provided fruits and snacks for us in our room.
I would happily stay here again if I visit Shangrila in the future."
"We had a wonderful stay at this BanYe Manor. Breakfast was lovely, and the hotel’s location on top of the mountain offered a truly magnificent view of the Yila Grassland.. the kind that makes you pause and just breathe it in.😭😭🩵
The staff were warm, friendly, and very responsive on WeChat, helping us with recommendations and getting around. Getting a DIDI from the hotel was easy and fuss-free. The coffee was surprisingly great too.
What really made this stay unforgettable were the animals — goats roaming freely all day and the hotel’s three affectionate dogs who clearly loved hugs. It felt like a beautiful, peaceful farm stay and created memories we’ll keep for a long time.
Truly a fun and special stay. I already wish I could come back. The staff was so sweet too, before check out they knew we needed our morning coffee so they made coffee for us, but so sad we left before we could have some 😭😭"
"This guesthouse is excellent. They even helped us book the Tusi Feast, which was very interesting – I highly recommend everyone takes the time to experience it. The yak hotpot restaurant right next door was also incredibly delicious. Across the street, you'll find a fun photo-op wall and a small shop where you can rent electric scooters."
"Great location, close to the train station and main attractions. The compound itself was amazing, with a large open field with free-roaming animals you can interact with. The three huge but super friendly malamutes were always there to greet us when we arrive or leave.
The room was spacious and clean, with thoughtful touches like an oxygen machine and heated floors, which were lifesavers during the cold winter. The highlight was definitely the beautiful view of the animal field with mountains in the background.
Service was excellent, massive thanks to 阿城 and his team for taking such good care of us, and for ending each night with a warm bowl of bird’s nest soup.
100% recommended!"

The hotel room is impeccable. Everything is very new and modern with ******* touch. The dining room on the fourth floor looks amazing. Breakfast is not buffet style but they give plenty of variety. The staffs were great and attentive. We were assigned a butler who looks after us from arranging free pick up from dukezong and drop off at train station. Everything went smoothly. She also arranged time slot for the free photography session. There is no costume provided for male, only female. Mr Sim, the photographer does a great job. He gave attentive guidance on poses and the photo results are fantastic.
This hotel is probably the best in the area , and offers very high CP. Another big bonus is location which means that you can enter songzanling complex from its side entrance, which means that you don’t need to climb the long steep stairs to the temple. You can also walk down the slope to the entrance of temple and the lake to take the iconic picture of the temple with the lake.

BBarry MichaelA Warm Home in Shangri-La - Definitely Choose Wufan Shanjian!
The luckiest choice of my trip to Shangri-La was definitely Wufan Shanjian Light Luxury Homestay, and the biggest surprise was meeting the owner couple, a local ******* pair. The simplicity and enthusiasm unique to Tibetans in them filled the entire journey with warmth.
From the moment we landed, we were surrounded by their thoughtfulness: they not only took the initiative to pick us up at the high-speed railway station but also carefully reminded us not to rush to take a bath just after arriving on the plateau and to remember to turn on the oxygen concentrator at night. A family member traveling with us had a bit of altitude sickness, and the landlady Zhuoma immediately brought Coke and glucose to relieve the discomfort. In the evening, she specially brought warm yak milk and fresh grapes. Even the child kept saying that Aunt Zhuoma was as kind as family. The husband was simple and enthusiastic. When he saw that we had trouble parking, he immediately helped park the car without hesitation, so we didn't have to worry at all. When we wanted to find delicious skewers or plan the route around Napahai, they could always give the most authentic suggestions and even recommend reliable stores, which were more useful than the strategies we made.
The environment of the homestay is impeccable. As a person with a bit of obsessive-compulsive disorder about cleanliness, the cleanliness here completely exceeded expectations - the rooms are bright and tidy, the bed sheets and quilt covers have no peculiar smell at all, and even the bathroom is cleaned spotlessly. The facilities are also very considerate, with full-house floor heating and smart devices. The oxygen concentrator by the bed can automatically adjust the oxygen concentration, completely solving the worry about sleeping on the plateau. What's more surprising is that the location is in the center of the ancient town, only a three-minute walk to the prayer wheel, making it very convenient for shopping and dining.
During the few days staying here, I was moved by the details every day: free down jackets and umbrellas, pre-prepared moisturizing masks, hot breakfast in the morning, and even after leaving, when we found that we had forgotten something, the boss would carefully send it back. This kind of warmth that is not family but better than family made the beauty of Shangri-La more concrete. Next time I come, I will definitely stay here again!

1118250****I've never embarked on such a thrilling journey. The hotel is spectacularly perched on the side of the Jinsha River Grand Canyon, halfway up the mountain, with a sheer cliff face on one side and the deep canyon on the other. When booking, I honestly didn't pay much attention to the exact location. I simply looked for a hotel near Tiger Leaping Gorge, as we planned to visit it the next day. But as we navigated there in the afternoon, driving up the mountainside, even my husband, a very experienced driver, started to get nervous. The road was incredibly steep – perhaps a 40-50 degree incline? – and what made it truly terrifying was that on one side was the sheer drop into the Jinsha River Grand Canyon, with the powerful river rushing below. It was an extreme test of nerve. I was so scared I couldn't utter a word, my mind racing with thoughts of unfinished business.
When we finally reached the hotel, perched precariously on the mountain, we met other guests who confessed they were too scared to drive back down and needed the hotel owner to take them. Despite the adventurous journey to get there, the hotel's scenery is absolutely unparalleled. It truly embodies the saying, 'the most spectacular views are found in the most treacherous peaks.'
This hotel has deep roots in the ancient Tea Horse Road. It's situated in a pivotal location along the Tea Horse Road, attracting many international trekkers and hikers. The owner himself is an avid hiking enthusiast. It was such an unforgettable experience that my husband said he wants to make a special trip back.
Next time, with this experience under our belts, we'd definitely park our car at the foot of the mountain and have the hotel pick us up. Alternatively, you could arrange for the hotel to drive your car up for you. Of course, if you're an adventure-seeker, you might enjoy the challenge! Haha.

GGuest UserOur three-day journey through Shangri-La became truly unforgettable thanks to our stay at Qingyu·Jianshan Guipu Manor. It was far more than a place to sleep—it felt like a comforting home tucked away in a breathtaking, remote landscape.
What stood out most was the genuine care shown by our host, Xiao Ge Ge. From picking us up at the railway station to checking in on us throughout our stay, his kindness never wavered. The moment that touched us most came when two members of our group fell ill due to the dramatic temperature changes. When we asked about the nearest pharmacy, he immediately searched the front desk and handed us medication. That simple, thoughtful gesture eased our worries instantly. It felt like being cared for by family, even though we were far from home.
The manor’s location is perfect for anyone seeking an immersive Shangri-La experience. Just a short walk away lies a beautiful open field where horses roam freely beneath vibrant, fluttering prayer flags. The sunset photos we captured there were magical. The quiet surroundings, away from the busier parts of town, offered exactly the serenity we were hoping for.
One thing to be mindful of is the sharp temperature drop between afternoon and evening. While the afternoons were sunny and pleasantly warm, mornings and nights were surprisingly cold. Layered clothing is essential. We suspect our own bout of sickness came from underestimating this chill.
Adding to the charm were the manor’s friendly residents—a dog and a lamb. They greeted us every time we returned, bringing a cheerful, homely vibe that made the place feel even more welcoming.
Shangri-La Qingyu·Jianshan Guipu Manor offers more than accommodation—it delivers an experience steeped in ******* warmth, natural beauty, and heartfelt hospitality. Xiao Ge Ge’s attentive care during our moment of need turned what could have been a stressful setback into a memory of genuine human kindness. We wholeheartedly recommend this manor to travelers seeking comfort, connection, and a true sense of place.

GGuest UserGreat family-run place! It had such nice design elements and everything in the room and hotel flows beautifully design wise whilst remaining practical (heating, humidifier & oxygen machine). Views of the prayer wheel & temple from our bedside wall to floor window and on the rooftop with location being topnotch without compromise for peace & quiet!
We loved the special touches like finger tea, fruit at the front desk, delicious noodles made fresh to order for breakfast. The discount for the infamous Shangri La Zhaya Tusi banquet was also amazing and they gave us a ride there and back arranging everything for us! Great communication and super helpful — if I’m back in Shangri La I would definitely come here !

EEliz.DFirst time staying at this Lisiman branch, saw great reviews and decided to try and book this accommodation for the unique grassland experience and animals at your doorstep. Facilities are good, room is also comfortable to stay in. However, on our last night, the hotel staff recommended us to a ******* performance dinner show which we felt was a total scam for tourists. The restaurant was filled with guests who came in big tour buses, at the front gate, they made guests queue up to be ”welcomed” with the ******* Hatha and a photographer took everyone's individual photos (likely to be sold to the patrons afterwards). The place was crowded and full of smoke smell as people are smoking cigarettes inside. Very uncomfortable environment especially for non-smokers. Worst of all, the food served was terrible, literally the worst we had over our 17 days stay in Yunnan. Meat taste suspiciously fake, spongy and had a weird texture, other dishes taste stale and can tell the ingredients have been left out in the open for very long. With a reputable brand like Lisiman, we expect quality in their recommendations, only to be utterly disappointed. We ended up leaving the dinner very early and proceeded to find dinner elsewhere, which is such a waste of not just money, but our precious time as well travelling here and there. After returning to the hotel, we expressed our disappointment in the hotel recommendations and told them our honest feedback. To our surprise, the hotel staff admitted they have not personally tried the restaurant they recommended us. Which made us even more speechless to hear that the staff would recommend something they have not even tried before to guests. Another suspicious matter is when we expressed our disappointment in their recommendations, the staff didn't look surprised at all, they only mentioned they will check with the restaurant to try request for 50% refund for us. This appeared to us that its not their first time receiving poor feedback regarding their recommendation, making us feel its just a typical tourist commission based collaboration with the restaurant. The next day we check out, the hotel proceeded to refund 50% of the costs we paid, but asked us to still give them 5 star rating to their hotel. They even continued to press on to ask us write them the 5 star review on the spot before we left the hotel. Obviously we did not agree and choose to write a very honest review of our experience with them instead. To other guests considering staying here, please be warned and do your own due diligence to check any ”recommendations” the hotel provide. Overall this left such an unpleasant taste to our stay with Lisiman, and we will be looking for alternative hotels to stay next time.

CcloudsinfebruaryOur stay here made our first visit to Shangri-La truly memorable! As the weather is really cold, the room (equipped with heated floor, humidifier, and a very comfy bed!) kept our bodies warm. In the morning, you get to wake up to an amazing view of nature.
The little furry families made up of a mother cat and her adorable 3 kittens, plus a cute young Westie 酥油, brought so much delight to our stay. The team is lean but extremely hospitable, welcoming, and kind. She always made sure we had piping hot food, and her bubbliness brightened our mornings. The ingredients used were of good quality, as with everything else in our room.
As we didn’t manage to hail Didi during this period, the owner/host, a local, drove us to the different places of interest we wanted to visit (at a fair rate!). He was resourceful in helping us get the best deals and avoid tourist traps. As a local, he was knowledgeable about Shangri-La and the Zangzu culture, and shared many interesting facts. He’s also a singer and humorous, so the car rides were enjoyable.
The place was beyond expectations! Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a peaceful home-away-from-home retreat, the warmth of the place really kept our body and soul warm!

Room is spacious, clean and equipped with smart electronics, where you can watch movie or music with big projector. Even toilet bowl has its own sensors to auto open and auto flush.

MM225665****For my New Year's trip to Shangri-La, I chose to stay at Shanlinyue for all three days. It turned out to be an excellent value for money! The owner was very welcoming and provided pick-up and drop-off services from the station/airport. The room was spacious and comfortable. Since I visited in winter, I couldn't fully enjoy the private balcony, but I imagine it would be even better in summer! Shangri-La is a place I'd choose to visit again and again, but I'd especially recommend coming when the flowers are in full bloom.

KKasidiliya-lamanqiawangmengThis stay completely exceeded my expectations! From the moment we arrived, the front desk staff were incredibly welcoming and helped us check in quickly. They even proactively told us about the hotel's facilities and local dining spots – top marks for attention to detail. The room was exceptionally clean and tidy, and the bedding was soft and comfortable; I felt the travel fatigue melt away as soon as I lay down. The soundproofing was also excellent, ensuring a wonderfully peaceful night's sleep. The bathroom had a great wet/dry separation, and all the toiletries were provided, including a powerful hairdryer, which was really convenient.
__cs48009705****The room was very clean, warm, and offered a view of Shika Snow Mountain right outside the window. As soon as we were on holiday, we were greeted by sheep – a fantastic experience! The front desk staff were very enthusiastic and even set up a service chat group, ready to assist with any questions we had. The lobby also provided fresh fruit daily, and the restaurant stayed open until 10 PM. An absolutely wonderful hotel, five-star rating!
