Summit le Royale Hotel, Shimla

The old british style hotel n near to Mall road walking distance with room heater n running hot water n food made to order n good view from the rooms n near to Jagu Mandir road but acess to the hotel is by narrow road n difficult for cars to go into the property but high on the hill n can view the Mall road lights in the evening from the hotels dinning room

I booked this hotel for a one day one night trip with my wife. My arrival was a bit earlier than the usual check in time so i had called ahead to check if we could check in early and the guy was honest, he said if there is an empty room we can check in early at no additional cost. Luckily for us, we could check in early. I had read a review that this hotel is not really accessible by car, so i had asked them about it and they said they'll give directions to my driver. On the day of arrival we spent some time and miles to get to the hotel and it was not easy. The funny thing is, the hotel is really close to mall rd, ridge, and church, like 5-10 minutes walk but by car you have to take the long route. I liked the warmth of the staff more than i liked the room. The people here are one of the most helpful and warm ones. Regarding the room: i got one with two large windows with a view of the entire valley. Everything was standard, there was a heater and all the stuff you'd need. Regarding food: we ordered a few dishes and all of them turned out to be really good, i'd say you can order without worries here. Hygiene: nothing to complain about. Overall if i visit shimla again i'd be considering this as one of my first choices. Be sure to check the car route to reach this place and the route to places you'd visit. Lots of restricted roads on the route.

Pleasant and a cozy stay ✨ The Staff is cooperative and polite. Especially Mr. Ghansham ji, he was really helpful, every hotel should have atleast 2-3 people like him. Rooms are well maintained. I had my stay in their Delux Room. PS: Room. 401 is the only valley facing Delux room and with a triangular roof which makes it just better given you are in Himachal. A great plus point about the hotel is that The Mall Road is a 5min walk. Although if you are commuting through public transport then you'll either have to take a taxi to hotel and the route is complex from the bus stands OR take a 20 min walk from mall road lift to hotel. Overall a really nice hotel on the Mall Road. :) ~Aditya

I stayed here for one night on 26th october 2024. I reached sometime in the evening around 5:00 pm and a part of the cause of the delay was the long route that my taxi had to take to reach the hotel, and the narrow access road up to the hotel. Either i had missed reading any of the reviews talking about the difficult access to the hotel or nobody has actually mentioned it. I was assigned room number 103 which is right next to the door leading from the restaurant to the kitchen. It was terribly noisy at night during dinner time, and even in the morning during breakfast. The room and the bathroom were very spacious. Getting hot water in a hotel room in cold weather is very important for me and i got very good hot water here. So that was a big plus! it is true that the hotel is just about a 5 minute walk from the ridge and about a 10 minute walk from the jakhu ropeway. However, it is fine when you are going from the hotel to somewhere because that is a downward slope. Coming back to the hotel is extremely challenging because the slope is extremely steep, at least for me. And, due to the location of the hotel, it is not practical to take a cab back to it or from it. As for the staff, they were all polite and friendly. As for room service, i had ordered coffee on the first day and had asked for it to be strong but it was mostly milk and so i had to ask the server to get me an extra sachet of coffee. When checking out, the reception helped arrange a taxi for me to get to my next location. There is nothing inherently wrong with the hotel, and even though the location is geographically close to the main points, due to the steep slopes it is a challenge to access it on foot and due to the narrow access road, it becomes challenging to even access it using a vehicle. I would not recommend against booking this hotel but it is important to note the challenges with this hotel before booking it.

Will explain he reason of giving 1 star to this hotel. *Location*: if you are not post graduate in driving skill don’t come to this hotel. Road to reach this hotel is like next to impossible . You can’t come from Mall Road by car. Come from Jaku temple and follow too narrow road and then reach. *Cleaning of Room* booked premium room but it was full of dust on floor and table bed every where. *Staff behaviour* I asked for extra bedding but it was chargeable, fare enough! Then I asked for extra bed sheet manager of the hotel said we can’t give u extra bed sheet cz you will sleep on Floor and it will be dirty. We had heated argument cz a. No one can sleep on floor in chilling night b. Guest can’t be denied of extra bed sheet c. Whether it’s dirty or not hotel is not going to use it again, then what’s the point that it will be dirty. d. That person was actually trying to make the money be taking charges of extra bed. When we have arguments started to record video then only he down the tone of voice else he was trying to overcome. *Room service* pathetic in one word. *Others* no lift , no elder person can come to this hotel. I am yet to taste the food but I am sure it will be poor. Room floor wood is jumpy !!
