Kamasaki is a bonafide onsen with actual hot spring waters that contain iron oxide so the water isn' t clear but resembles Bath in the UK.
The building is traditional with lots of wooden beams.
The food was not gourmet but homemade and delicious, good value for money.
I stayed here after visiting the Fox Village.
My low ratings are not because of anything bad, just that I had no opinion. I couldn't leave a blank.

This ryokan is not far from Tokyo, quite easy and you can have a side trip to Sendai before coming here. Also easy to go to Zaō fox village, just 15 mins. by bus.
Food is good, vibe is good, onsen is fantastic but the staff is the best!! They are so kind and friendly. I’m impressed!!

The appearance I saw about the inn was quite atmospheric. The cleanliness of the hotel, which many people have read about, was very clean on the day we used it. The hot spring is free-flowing from the source (with heating), and I often entered the spring room many times. As expected, there is only the inn of the meeting to protect the secluded hot springs. The hotel (including the room) feels quite old, but the accommodation fee is not too expensive and the hot spring is good, so I didn't feel bad.
