The All Seasons Residence Hotel is located in Boyana, south of central Sofia, and very conveniently situated for those who want a base to visit the historic Boyana church, or walk the trails that criss-cross Mount Vitosha. It's elevated location keeps it clear of the autumn fogs that cloak Sofia, while in summer offer a cooler escape from the heat and fumes of downtown. It also has a surprising number of great places to eat within a few minute's walk. It's on a bus route into town, while depending on traffic, the airport can be reached via taxi in a journey time stretching from 15 to 45 minutes. I was booked in for a week-long business trip with colleagues. Check in was very friendly and efficient, and I was soon in the lift to my room on the second floor. My room faced the mountain, and although the view was limited, I could clearly see some of Vitosha dressed in stunning autumn colours. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable with sufficient space for storing my clothes and a large enough safe. It had a minibar (not used) and TV (not switched on during my stay), and a desk large enough to do my work. A kettle with tea or coffee making facilities would have been nice. The large bed was comfortable enough for a good night's sleep; though as one who prefers not to use aircon but sleep with a window open, I was obviously so tired the barking dogs did not affect me. The adjoining en-suite bathroom was again clean and modern, with everything I would expect provided. The hotel has a nice lounge (referred to as The View Point Cafe), easy to relax in, adjoining the bar. The bar was reasonably well stocked, and I did enjoy the Kloster Weisse Hell beer. The hotel's first floor 'All Season Restaurant' was Georgian themed. We ate their one night, and although the food was very good (reviewed separately), I seemed to be there on a night when a large number of guests were smoking inside, and this deterred me from visiting again. Breakfast is served from 07:30 in the 'All Seasons Cafe'. This was slightly problematic as our working day was starting at 08:00, and none of the food is put out. It is all ordered at the bar, either cold or cooked options, and with no option to arrive a few minutes early to get food from the cold options (such as cereals, pastries of fruit), it meant we were always more rushed than we would have liked. That said, the cooked options, all done to order, were all very good. The hotel has secure car parking to the rear, while external seating to the front makes quite a nice place to sit outside and enjoy a coffee. In summary though, I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. It was easy to relax in for a work trip, and I would definitely stay here again. Recommended.
