Just returned from a 7 day stay. We had a private plunge pool ocean facing room. The resort is beautiful and the service is above and beyond. My family and I had an amazing time. I did not experience anything like the negative reviews I’ve read from previous reviewers.

The property is spectacular the service is uncompromising. Rooms were well thought out and nicely appointed Food service was on point and they weave the local products in nicely to the stay. The butler service is on call and responsive. Will keep on our list

I was very unimpressed with my stay at the St Regis and yes, I got food poisoning. My stomach was a mess the entire time. When I returned to the US literally an hour after I got home I was vomiting for 18 hours straight. The Room: issues with the AC. It didn't work the first night. Maintenance came to our room at 3am and tried to fix it. It turns out, we think the AC turns off automatically when you open the balcony doors Maintenance didn't seem to be aware of that and neither did the front desk. Friends who stayed at the St Regis in March/ April mentioned that they had an AC issue also. Still its not fixed or communicated to the appropriate staff how the AC functions? Room was not cleaned properly. Cups with old coffee were left in the room for 2 days before we actually just left them outside to be removed by housekeeping. The batteries in the bathroom scale are dead. I asked the Butler 3 days in a row to replace them. it was never done. I received an email before we arrived asking if we had any special request etc. It took a full day to get a reply and when we did it felt like I was talking in circles trying to figure out what excursions to plan. In the end we didn't plan any. There are some serious service failures in this hotel they need to address for the money they charge. I would never go back and next time, I will read the reviews before I book a trip and decide to spend $1,000 a night.

Welcome to your best vacation! Not only you get the St Regis service but it comes at a very boutique resort. We went with our two daughters (8 and 10) and we were hesitant about activities for them. Their kids club was great and kept them entertained. Now to the people that made a difference: Armando our butler always attentive to our needs. Mine and the girls. Fernanda was always there every morning to salute us at Chaya. Marco and the family pool crew were amazing. Every experience we had during our stay was great and I wish I knew everyone’s names. Hope the GM recognizes all of you that came into contact with us. We will see you soon!

I’ve traveled and have stayed in some of the most amazing 5 star resorts & the St. Regis Kanai is by far a 5+ resort. The design and architecture of the resort is stunning. The service is impeccable from every staff member. Highly recommend the St. Astor suite!

This was my second chance to stay at St. Regis Kanai and I am already looking forward to the next visit. It feels very authentic & welcoming. There is a gorgeous view from every angle and I love how open the resort feels. The whole resort is exceptional but the staff really pushes the experience to the next level. Every request is quickly met and they anticipate anything you might want. The rooms are spacious and have great amenities. Our butlers, Mario & Erick, were very attentive and easy to communicate with during the stay. The staff at the pool was so friendly and they all work so well together. I really appreciated Antonio- he joked around with us and brought me some magical bubble lemon drink that immediately cured a hangover. All the restaurants are great but Toro is so so good. I could eat there every single night. The La Bomba dessert is a fun little way to end dinner and the pop rocks were a pleasant surprise. We spent our evenings at the St Regis Bar and love that space. I was disappointed to see the cocktail* menu has been simplified from last year but Mario was able to make me an off menu item after I showed him a pic. Mario also hosted our Anejo & Chocolate class and it was the highlight of our trip. He is very friendly and had us all laughing. We learned so much about tequila and how to enjoy it. The pairings went well together and really enhanced each unique flavor. *(StRK- if you are reading this, bring back the original cocktail menu pleaseeeee. Those drinks were so exciting and unique- the Maia, Xcatik, Chufa Colada, and Tonatiuh were my faves.)

We stayed for five days in may in the Caroline Astor suite and were very impressed with how gorgeous and spacious it was. The resort is quiet and serene, the food was generally excellent. I would absolutely recommend going, we plan to go again. The only area that the resort needs work is service. Our butlers were often slow to respond or unresponsive. I’m not drinking and was served a drink loaded with rum accidentally. The room wasn’t ready until at least an hour past the check in time, which was frustrating after a long day of travel. There are definitely kinks to iron out. That said, a gorgeous place to be and if you book a suite you won’t be disappointed.

This property is truly inspiring. The photos cannot and do not do it justice. The entire resort seemingly floats over a sea of green mangrove that makes you feel like you're a part of the natural ecosystem. The restaurants are phenomenal and the massage services at the spa are pure bliss. My suite came with a butler, Carlos, who took the time to learn what my father and I liked, did not like, our daily routine, etc. They ensured our morning coffee orders for the next day were pre-scheduled before leaving for the day. They picked up and dropped off shirts that needed pressing. They noticed so many minor details that truly made such a difference over the course of a week-long stay! I cannot thank Carlos enough for making our trip so seamless. I highly recommend this property if you are looking for a quiet/rejuvenate retreat free of the chaos of "all inclusive" partygoers or large families.

We stayed 6 nights with our two daughters who are in their mid-20s. It is a beautiful hotel and only has 120 rooms so it is not crazy busy like the giant ones closer to Cancun. That said at some points it did seem a bit sleepy as most of the rooms were taken by a conference who were doing their own events separate from the restaurant. The hotel has basically been open a year and we really enjoyed it and would recommend it, but they have a few kinks to work out. Here are our pros/cons. I know the cons are longer than the pros but we really did enjoy the hotel so I write these for the management to see the issues and address them rather than complain as most were relatively minor things. Pros: beautiful modern design honoring the Mayan culture. It sits on over 2000 columns on top of the mangroves. There are great sightlines and views from almost everywhere. They use a lot of water features and plants all over the hotel to create a great vibe. The rooms were beautiful with modern layout and great views of the pool and beach area. The pool areas were very well designed with infinity edges facing the beach. They had lots of comfy lounge chairs and poolside beds and the drink/food service was super attentive/fast/nice. Also every hour or so the pool staff would bring around free food surprises - small smoothie shots, fresh juice popsicles, etc. In terms of activities, the hotel offers several interesting classes each day (salsa making, beer tasting, cocktail making, hand painting, guac making, etc.) and almost all the ones we went to were well done. The breakfast buffet is solid (not amazing as other places in playa but very good) and we had excellent service during breakfast — never having our coffee cups go empty or our used plates sit for more than a minute. The bar was nice and they had a champagne sabering each night like all St. Regis hotels. The bartenders were good and so were the drinks, Cons: We are quite used to resort price up charges having travelled to 5-star hotels all over the world but the St. Regis seemed over the top expensive - for example we had to buy a bottle of Sun Bum sunscreen and it cost $48 vs $18 on Amazon. I get that they’re going to up-charge things like that in a hotel but 3X is too much. The same was true for drinks. We appreciated that they provide you a “butler” during your stay to coordinate everything for you but we had two issues with it 1. They did not tell us about it ahead of time or the fact that they communicate via What’s App so we tried to download it on the spot but couldn’t create an account (probably some security feature about creating an account outside your home territory?) so then we had to try and communicate via Apple messages, 2. Our butler was attentive about some things (telling us he was going home that night) but not about replying to some requests… and isn’t that the whole point of having him? Moreover the concierge booked our dinner reservations each night and sent
