Tavern on the Bay Resort

First the location and views were great. Yet the food was poor especially given the high price Key lime shrimp with crab meat - didn't taste the key lime. Poor plating and presentation. Even worse was the scallops - small and rubbery. Light sear. To think they gave their life for this? String beans - over cooked and tasting like they came out a can Their menu was light and did not match their poorly designed website My rum runner cocktail was very good Service was fair. But seriously - go elsewhere until they hire a real chef. With such a nice location - epic fail. We felt we tossed money out the window

The room was reasonably priced compared to other stays. I have to say that many little things could be improved: new blinds, toiletries, hair dryer, clothes hooks and, a couple other things. Joseph, the young manager is very scatter brained but, he did do what he said. He was easily accessible. He did a good job! The room was clean, quiet and what you'd expect for an older properly. I think the entire staff needs an education for this type of business.

So we live in town, we came here bc we know it's not very busy and we wanted a relaxing night with a cpl drink than we were going to head home. We ordered a cpl appetizers, which were ok. The problem was our drinks took forever, I mean probably 15 minutes and the place had maybe 20 ppl max in it. We start talking to the waitress, and she tells us the manager is forgetful and they're short staffed. Ok I get it. We go inside to sit at the bar, I order two drinks the old guy working the bar is the manager. We order two beers he forgets us, then comes back like 5 mins later with the wrong beers. Ok we don't say anything we just drink them. We order two more again he gets them wrong. I am walking to the bathroom and the host and our waitress were talking. I stopped and said hey are you guys short behind the bar? I'm free a few nights a week, I wouldn't mind helping out in here. They literally beg me, please we need a bartender so bad. Take my name and number and we shake hands. The manager sees us talking and walks over and asks me if there's a problem, with an attitude. I said no, no problem at all. I know you guys are short staffed, I live in town, im not busy at night, id love to come help you guys out behind the bar. He asked if I had any experience, I say yes I've worked banquets at a country club when I was younger. He gets mad, that's not bartendering, what drinks can you make? I said any drink you can pretty much come up with. If not I can do a 10 second Google. He rattles off about 5 drinks, I answer all of them, he shakes his head at me, and says why do you want to work here. I answer bc I know you guys need help, I understand I also run a business, and im free at night. I would like to see this place do well, and I'd like to help out. He gets mad and tells me to leave. The two employees apologized to me, and now my wife who just squared up our bar tab. They said this is why we're short staffed. He is horrible to work for. We walked out laughing, bc the situation was so absurd. I hope the owner sees this and realizes the big issue here is management, bc the staff is super friendly and super attentive. I honestly walked out in total disbelief, and feeling bad for the ppl who work there.

Absolutely the worst Bnb I’ve ever stayed in. Rude staff. Dirty rooms. Musty and still wet linens and towels. No management. No blinds for windows. No staff. No room phones. No bath soap. No new towels each day. With every request the minimal staff that was present became ruder and ruder. No hairdryers in the rooms. I had to Uber to Target to get my wife a hair dryer. I cannot emphasize this enough….not stay there. There aren’t many options on Somers point but do not include this place as an option. If I had more time I would document some of the other complaints we had.
