La Barbarie Hotel

We stayed at La Barberie whilst attending a wedding in Guernsey. This is a cute little hotel tucked away from traffic. The staff were very welcoming and very friendly and check in was very smooth. Our room was spacious and had a balcony with a view over the pool. The bathroom was of a nice size and clean. Please note that if your room is not in the main house but on an upper floor there is no lift and you will have to carry your bags to the upper level. The outdoor swimming pool is heated which is rare and of a decent size. We dined in the restaurant in the evening. The food was very nice and flavourful but lacking in veggie options including a vegetable tart and risotto. I ended up ordering the feta salad and a main size mac’n’cheese. Both were flavourful and the portions were of a healthy size. The breakfast was great with fresh baked bread with a lot of choice for vegetarians. I will definitely visit again on a future visit to Guernsey

We have just returned after staying at this superb hotel for a week. It was our 4th visit in 13 years. We stayed this time, in a 1st floor poolside room which was immaculate. We made use of the heated outside pool and enjoyed all the cliff side walks, which are nearby, starting from Saints Bay. If only other hotels could have the friendliness and professionalism of all the staff here, in other hotels we have stayed in. From the initial welcome by Sally and her reception team, to Liam, Raivis, Joshua, Francil, Minah, Belle and Reagan in the restaurant and not forgetting Justus who makes some great drinks in the bar. And of course Paula and her housekeeping team who keep the rooms immaculate. We have never seen Colin the Head Chef, but he and his team deliver some superb meals from the kitchen. The fish dishes especially are fantastic, plentiful and all reasonably priced. And MD Andrew, pops in occasionally to chat to guests (apologies that I have missed some staff names)! We have stayed in many hotels worldwide, and we have to say this hotel is a favourite of ours. In fact, it is so good, we have already booked to return again.

A lovely place to stay, the service was excellent and the food fantastic. The gourmet break was great value. Our room overlooking the pool was spacious and very comfortable. The hotel is well positioned to access walks along the coastline and there is a bus stop on the corner going to St Peter Port. A lovely break thank you.

Excellent food and service

Fantastic stay. Made very welcome and all the staff were so polite , friendly and helpful. We had a cozy room but there was plenty of room for the 2 of us for the week. Room was clean and had plenty of storage space. The food in the restaurant was really good value and delicious, with quite a range of choices Would definitely stay here again and thoroughly recommend

An absolute gem of a hotel, where the staff are helpful and friendly and the food is amazing and plentiful. On the last night, we had the seafood extravaganza which was gorgeous. We stayed in a deluxe poolside room where the bed was comfy and the room huge. A big thank you to all the staff for a great stay but particularly all the kitchen staff for great food. ❤️

We have just come back from staying at this place. The hotel itself is lovely, it was a bit hard to find, it is inland, we drove ourselves there and it didn’t help that roadworks had closed the road, or should I say Lane, off with no directions to get there? Once we arrived, there was plenty of parking within the hotel we then went to booked in, staff were pleasant enough and the room was lovely. We had upgraded to a pool view room. It was a nice size. You got bath robes and slippers and these were lovely and soft along with the towels. There were some toiletries also in the room you had coffee tea hot chocolate, and biscuits replenished each day, you get two bottles of water only, after that if you want some more you have to pay. The food in this place was good, as for breakfast the cooked breakfast was ok, I have had better and there was a choice of Continental that was it, at the last place we stayed at in jersey they also gave you other choices that they would cook as you ordered. The pool was heated or should I say was supposed to be heated but wasn’t when my husband went in and you can get pool towels from reception. The rest of the staff were pleasant enough but found in my opinion that they were more attentive to people that had been there before, i.e. returnees. You can get a bus into St Peter’s port really easy from the corner. And in the port every so many Sundays they do seafront Sunday which has craft stalls and food stalls. Do not think we will return to this hotel again although it was a nice break

Great hotel with a fantastic restaurant and super attentive staff. The menu was varied and food quality excellent. Room was cleaned every day and beds made up. A great location with a large car park. Although we didn’t use the outdoor pool it was very tempting
