What a lovely place. Rooms small but adequate stayed for 2 nights in the morning woke up to beautiful views plus llamas sheep and goats in the field, let me just say no noise from them. Food was amazing and staff friendly. Definitely worth a visit. I shall certainly stay there again. 100% from me

I phoned to check if I could stay over in my van as the place had been recommended to me via a Facebook page. I was toying with pushing slightly further north to another pub I stop at, but after speaking to Ollie who was so lovely & welcoming on the phone, I felt I had to stop here as he gave me such a good vibe about the place. I absolutely was not disappointed. I was greeted in the pub by Ella who was also very bubbly & lovely. The tables were all fully booked (which Ollie had warned me that it's best to book, but with a 3.5hr journey ahead, I didn't want to make a time commitment). Luckily for me there is a takeaway option, which was ideal for me in my van, especially with the pub being full & me being on my own & not a particularly social person! I had a lovely 'create your own' pizza & a pint of plum porter.....both were divine. Ollie & Ella.....thank you so much for being so hospitable, I will most definitely be recommending you to anyone that needs a stop over around here & I'm sure I'll be back in the future

An excellent restaurant a welcome stop after a day on the canal which runs alongside. We received a warm welcome and had a very enjoyable Sunday roast in the evening. Food and choice of drinks was excellent We will definitely be returning There are extensive gardens for when the weather is fine.

We stayed nearby and stopped by for dinner in the bar on arrival, and also breakfast on our last day. Very good food and presentation. Relaxed, friendly service in lovely comfortable surroundings. Good understanding of food intolerances with substitutes available. Top rate local Chartley coffee.

Went today for a belated birthday meal. Ordered 4 sunday dinners, two beef and two chicken supreme. Dinners came down and wasnt overly warm.beef was chewy and stringy, chicken was not over powering . Menu states each meal comes with roasted parsnips and carrots, after apologising that we had none we was served with one bowl with 4 carrots and 4 parsnips, and one bowl of seasonal veg for 4 peopke,. Tbh kids would have struggled too be nourished. Was probably worst sunday meal ive had for a while and after speaking too a friend that was also dining there ,they too experienced same disappointed . Too say a toby carvery would beat it then that speaks volume.

Last year in December I booked via the Saracens Webpage a double room for myself and my husband, to stay end of June for the Cheese Festival at the Stafford Showground. Nearer the time, approx. 4 weeks before our arrival, I was not able check my booking and the system did not let me log in. After emailing the Hotel, I had a reply days later that the booking program has changed and that my booking is available and that I didn't need to worry. I have sent an email back asking some more question, to which I have never had a reply. On arrival we then had to ask for a taxi to the site. Coming back in the afternoon we sat outside in the beer garden, surrounded by kids, running round wild, trashing the trees, and young adults spitting and swearing, we left to go for a walk and found much better and nicer restaurant in the village. Our room (Cosy) was tiny, couldn't swing a cat, warm and overlooking the carpark, the fan of the cooling unit was making noises, the kettle in the room had some fancy filter in it which was not working as it is properly past its use by date and needs replacing, lots of little white floaters in the water in the kettle, so coffee or tea was off the menu for us, after a while we fell asleep, noises started again at 5.30 am, banging doors, scratching chairs on floor below, eventually we went down for breakfast and mentioned that we are up since early in the morning due to the noise, there was no apology or anything, just a mentioned that staff only turns up at 7.30 am, so there couldn't have been any noises that early. (More or less, we were told that we are liars!) Been sat in a corner, under a loudspeaker, blaring some French music into our ears we ordered breakfast, my husband’s white bread bacon butty was uneatable, bread stale and bacon cold, my full English was cold, coffee was lukewarm and orange juice was served with ice cubes ?!? WHY ?? No one was interested if we enjoyed our breakfast or our stay when we checked out. We only stayed here for its close location to the Stafford Showground, might have to look for somewhere else next year.

In the general the stay was good, staff very friendly and helpful. They do need to sort out the breakfast - the service is very slow. 30 minutes for eggs on toast and I was the only one in

Went for lunch with friends. I didn’t find too much to my liking on the menu but I chose the Chicken Caesar Salad and it was excellent. Plenty of it, clearly the sauce was made correctly and not out of a bottle and the chicken was moist and delicious. Only marked a four not a five star just because of the menu but that is a personal choice. I will go again.

We dropped in for breakfast on Saturday. Had not booked but they found ourselves a very nice table. Service from Meg, Lily and Scarlet was exceptional. Very welcoming, food was great. A very enjoyable experience. Will definitely be coming again.
