GGuest UserI can't believe it's 2025, and there are still such wonderful hostels in China: bookstores, music, drinks, courtyards, and incredibly cool owners... a cultural utopia in Luoping County, Qujing City, Yunnan Province. It's a haven of cleanliness, a great location, excellent amenities, and a remarkably quiet environment. I hope Luoping 97 Bookstore Hostel stays open for a hundred years! Right now, I'm at Guiyang Longdongbao Airport T3 Terminal, about to board a Xiamen Airlines flight back to Nanjing. Yunnan, Guizhou, and Sichuan are a hub of delicious food and a gathering place for all kinds of culinary experts. This isn't my first time here, and it won't be my last. By the way, the hostel owner told me about the Time YHA Hostel in Yongyuan Alley next to the Presidential Palace in Nanjing. That's where my stays at China International Youth Hostels began, the place where a beautiful dream started... I miss the pre-pandemic hostel era, cherish everything I have now, and look forward to the future. Attached is a picture: the sunset I saw from the owner's rooftop that night. The sunset was beautiful; goodbye sunset.

BBaozaoshiminxiaozhangVery satisfied! A very unique hotel! The style of the room is very good, the decoration is very detailed and has a sense of design! It is recommended to come and experience it! Just make a reservation in advance, the reservations are fully booked! The lady at the front desk who checked in on Saturday night was very enthusiastic and had a great service attitude. She also gave us snacks👍It was a great hotel experience. I slept very comfortably and there was also a chess and card room to play🀄️. I will come back next time!

Fly from Tokyo to Kunming, then transfer in Shanghai.
Take a bus from Kunming's East Bus Terminal to Luoping (2-3 hours). 48 RMB.
Arrive at Luoping's North Bus Terminal and either take a shared van to Jinji Peak (5 RMB) or a 30-minute taxi ride.
From the Jinji Peak monument where an old man is teaching children, it's about a 5-minute walk through the city.
The driver of the shared van I chartered for the day called me,
The shop assistant came to pick me up on the street.
[Room]
☆My room was on the first floor, so if I opened the window, I could see parked cars. There was a security camera.
☆The ceilings were high. The blackout curtains were long.
☆Amenities were provided. There were two rolls of toilet paper, thankfully wrapped in plastic.
☆As is common in China, the toilet and shower were in the same room. As expected, I got the shower all wet and ruined one roll of toilet paper and towels.
☆The shower had a ceiling, a handheld, and a faucet. The pressure was low. The hot water was slow, but it did work.
☆There was an unnecessarily large closet. Blankets were also provided.

☆Wi-Fi available
☆There were no TVs in the rooms, so we all watched them together in the lobby. There was also a large sofa.
☆Smoking was allowed in the lobby.
☆There were apples and a paring knife (probably complimentary).
☆There was a dedicated table for enjoying Chinese tea, a Yunnan specialty. You could drink as much as you wanted.
☆By the next morning, there were sunflower seeds and teacups left over from other guests scattered around.
[Restaurant]
☆A restaurant (actually a noodle shop without a door, as is common in China) and an inn were attached to each other, facing the street. It's all connected inside.
☆The lady who picked me up worked both at the front desk and as a waitress at the restaurant.
☆There's no menu at the restaurant. They stock vegetables in a refrigerator that sells ice cream at convenience stores, with meat and ham laid out next to them, and they make stir-fries using them.
☆Drinks are served at room temperature.
☆Breakfast is also provided. Everyone had noodles.
By the way, for dinner, I had stir-fried tomatoes and eggs, salted and stir-fried rape blossoms (not spicy), and rice, all of which came out automatically for 44 NTD.
[Other]
- There are more and more tourist attractions around Jinji Peak, so I recommend staying overnight. Watching the sunrise is especially beautiful.
- The temple, a great photo spot, is a 5-minute walk away.
- There's a large parking lot near the monument. There's a guardhouse at the entrance that's manned 24 hours a day. Feel free to enter without hesitation.
- There's a photo spot in the parking lot with the incomplete ”Jinji Peak” inscription.
- Access to the temple is through the grounds of the Yunnan Provincial Communist Party building. Climb the stairs, pass the side of the building, and follow the road to the ticket booth. (10 RMB)
- It's a fairly steep climb, so wear comfortable walking shoes.
- After climbing the stairs, the path splits into two. Take the path marked ”Observation Area” to reach the photo spot.
- The photo spot at the observation area is narrow, so if you want to take some great photos, arrive early.
- The other path leads to the temple. The view from there is also great, so be sure to stop by. (But be careful, the road can be slippery.)
- There are attractions like trains and gondolas.
- There are also a variety of open-air stalls.
- There was also a tour that took you on a cow-pulled float through a field of rapeseed flowers.
- Note that there are no restrooms.

Service: I moved from the next homestay. Yesterday, this hotel was full. The next homestay was expensive. The restaurant upstairs was very good. We had hot pot for dinner.

772938600The inn is in a good location, right next to the Jinji Peak Cong Scenic Area, and parking is in the yard. The landlord couple is warm and simple, and prepared dinner for us in advance. Although it is home-cooked food, it tastes good. The inn is clean and hygienic, the rooftop platform offers views and starry sky, and the laundry room is convenient for washing clothes.

The boss also drove the guests to the major scenic spots in Luoping, and only charged a fee more affordable than the average chartered car. grateful.

LLeleoThis stay was a very pleasant experience. The service was attentive and thoughtful, the rooms were spacious and bright, the facilities were complete, and the price was very reasonable. There was a yard in the back where you could park, which could probably fit five or six cars. There was a breakfast shop on the first floor of the guesthouse, and the roasted milk was also very delicious. I stayed another night.

AAyangyanggeIt may be the reason for the off-season. The price is very high. I thought the room would be small, but the actual stay was still very large. There was a place to drink tea on tatami mats. The room was very quiet. The front desk service is also good.

MmChai (Singapore)Old hotel but acceptable. Bedroom has whats needed for the 2-night stay. The long hair receptionist was bewildered when we handed over our passports for registration.
She was very kind to give us a new kettle when we asked for it and changed the shower head which was not quite serviceable.
We would like to thank her for the prompt attention.
