"I've arranged for my team to stay at this hotel many times since it opened in 2022, and I've always had a good impression of it. However, I've always been quite busy, so this time I came specifically to stay here myself. Even though it was cloudy and foggy, it didn't dampen my spirits. I stayed three nights, in rooms 1309, 1209, and 1206, and I looked at quite a few rooms. The staff's service was impeccable. Even with a picky guest like me, Sister Li Jinhui patiently answered all my questions, which I greatly appreciated. The hotel front desk staff were also very welcoming and patient, which is truly commendable. However, given my high expectations, and considering it's one of the best five-star hotels in Luoping, as someone working in the tourism industry and a hotel enthusiast who often stays in hotels for two or three months straight, I'd like to offer some suggestions to help them improve in the future.
1. The bathroom has only one door, and the smell is quite strong at night, for example, in room 1205. Rooms like 1206 are fine, but 1209/1309 are fine.
2. Carpets: This is a recurring issue. Guest behavior and carpet style are difficult to improve, but the carpet in 1206 had a strong foot odor (I smelled it while lying down, haha), and its style was different from other rooms—thinner and less warm, suggesting it was recently replaced. This is something to be aware of.
3. Many bedside incandescent lights couldn't be controlled properly, so the staff loosened them, which is a careless practice.
4. Lighting controls and the Xiaodu voice control in some rooms (like 1209 and 1206) are malfunctioning. A thorough inspection of all these systems is recommended.
5. Every winter, almost all the front desk staff catch colds. In late 2022 and early 2023, my entire group contracted both Yanghe and H1N1. From a feng shui perspective, shouldn't the hotel consider this important issue? (Of course, this is difficult)
The hotel has a redesigned layout and a wide variety of room types, making the selection quite dazzling. However, only a few rooms have desks, although the staff said they could be provided. Hopefully, as the hotel ages, maintenance of the hardware and attention to detail won't cause further inconvenience and fatigue for the staff. Improving the overall layout is a very difficult task!
The following is for discerning guests like myself. If you're just looking for a casual stay, then Jin Hua Yu Hu is definitely fine, and may even exceed your expectations in terms of aesthetics. However, if the price is higher during peak season and you have some specific requirements…
1. Southeast-facing (front-facing) rooms are quieter and offer better views. Rooms above the 8th floor are excellent. Rear-facing rooms, especially those next to the elevator (e.g., 1208), have noticeable elevator noise.
2. There's a laundry room on the 7th floor, which can be a bit noisy, but I noticed the staff always kept the door half-closed. Those who mind this should choose carefully.
3. Because the hotel has an irregular shape that tapers from large to small, rooms below the 8th floor are quite deep and can be slightly dark. This depends on individual comfort, but the spaciousness makes it suitable for groups of two or two people with twin beds.
While China's hotel infrastructure has improved, it still lags far behind established resort destinations, primarily in terms of meticulous maintenance. I imagine many of these issues didn't exist when I first visited in 2022, as hotels are primarily for lodging and sleeping.
In contrast, the Morning Light Hotel, though older (I didn't know that before), was a welcome change after three nights. I was quite surprised by the cleanliness of the carpets, the condition of the furniture, the air quality, the service, and the room layout – all of which met star-rated hotel standards. I recommend checking it out."
