"Since I stayed for almost a week, I really got a feel for the culture here. One thing I truly appreciated was how friendly the receptionists were during check-in (the lady with glasses and long hair was incredibly kind) and check-out (the lady in the hijab was unbelievably friendly). The rest of the staff, however, often had flat expressions, didn't greet guests much, rarely smiled, and didn't convey a sense of respect or warmth towards guests. There was even a large, stern-looking parking attendant (I think he was the one moving cars, but I understand it wasn't intentional, perhaps just the culture). Not many staff members greeted guests walking by; there were just too many staff wandering around with blank faces, which might just be a local cultural thing, I suppose. The cleaning ladies sweeping nonchalantly while opening doors even directed dust towards our feet when we walked past. We said 'excuse me,' but they just stayed silent. If there was a cleaner in the elevator (a man), he'd bring a mountain of linens, just walk in and turn his back to me. It really comes down to manners and attitude. A few times, I also felt like perhaps some of the owners' family members were sitting near reception (I assume they were supervisors), with no smiles, just flat expressions, and looking suspiciously at everyone who entered. It made me feel a bit dizzy and uneasy, hahaha. But then again, maybe it's just their cultural way of behaving. They were still friendly when we asked questions, but if you didn't ask, they were just incredibly quiet and robotic."
