AAnonymous UserSummary:
We had a great stay here at SkyView Monjam! The house had all the amenities we needed for a relaxing stay, albeit certain obscure corners could be cleaned up better. The staff were excellent and took great care of us, providing us with good food and catering to our requests as much as possible. Would definitely come back again for a relaxing retreat!
Cleanliness:
Overall very clean, though certain areas that are more difficult to reach in general could see certain signs of nature. But those areas are not visible unless you purposely look into it, which won't affect your stay overall. Staff will ask if the house needs to be cleaned daily, then changes the bedsheets and covers if yes. So rest assured that the sheets are clean and fresh.
Location:
Not the most accessible, but that should be expected when you are booking this place since it is up in the mountain area. Driving takes at least 1 hour with confident driving skills on windy mountainous roads. The last 200m or so to the house is bumpy off-road tracks. Transportation to and fro can be requested to the staff and booked at least 1 day in advance for a fixed fee. Do not bother trying to get Grab/Bolt rides as the final fare will end up much higher due to rural location and road condition. In fact, why bother going out when you can relax in nature 😃
Service:
Simply put, it was equivalent to a 5-star resort. The staff were very accommodating to our requests and timings, even waiting for us near past their working hours and our requested time to help prepare our dinner! Be rest assured that you will be well taken care of during the stay!
Amenities:
The MVP was the speaker provided, it stayed with us throughout our whole stay. Wifi was strong and readily available despite being in a less urban area. Shower water is fixed at a temperature as the hot water is boiled using gas, so any adjustments will require assistance from the staff to physically change the gas intake of the boiler. The air-conditioning is not the strongest at cooling the entire house, so a standing fan is provided to help circulate the cool air around. Other than utensils which can be requested from the staff, cooking appliances and tools are readily available.
GGuest UserViews from the villa are amazing. It’s great that they include dinner and breakfast. I personally loved the karaoke machine. Can hear noise from events in neighborhood village but that might depend on the day. Amenities could be better, but overall I have no major complaints. Location is very remote but there is a local grocery store within walking distance, and the host also can arrange a ride for you back into the city.
GGuest UserThe view is beautiful, and the food is decent. The ingredients aren't particularly high-quality, but it's acceptable for a mountain setting. When we visited in December, the temperature was only 16 degrees Celsius. The main downside was the lack of hot water for showering; it was only around 37-39 degrees. They provided a large bathtub, but again, no hot water. When I brought it up, the staff suggested I shower faster? Maybe that works in summer, but in winter, it's something to reconsider. The room was also very cold at night, and they informed us there was only air conditioning, no heating.
GGuest UserWe were looking forward to staying here so much, it was the most expensive place we stayed in at £149 for the night, unfortunately it was extremely disappointing first we were kept waiting 40 minutes in the blazing heat for a driver, we had to phone twice to ask how much longer we would have to wait, we were then kept waiting another 40 minutes to check in despite us asking for early check in. We eventually got to the room which was very dusty on both bedside tables and around the headboards, the deciding factor to us booking here was the outdoor bath unfortunate we had to clean it before using it then the water was only tepid so it was no good. The staff were absolutely lovely here if attention was paid to cleaning and the bath had hot water it would have been nice, I would not stay here again despite the lovely staff and stunning views.
HHuangyinIt took me about 50 minutes to take a taxi from the city of Chiang Mai. I walked more and more into the countryside. But as soon as I arrived, ducks, cats, and peacocks came to greet me. I suddenly relaxed my nervousness. The room was not big, but it was enough for me alone. Yes, the hardware in the bathroom and toilet is also old. Peacocks would come and go on the balcony of my room. The water in the waterfall is not very full, but it can be seen that the owner has put a lot of effort into maintaining the environment.
GGuest UserGreat atmosphere and perfect weather; there was even a morning mist. The staff were lovely and provided excellent service. There's a nice seating area next to the dome with a very chill vibe. I loved it!
