This inn is literally steps from the ferry terminal and bus terminal in Stromness. We had a room for three and it was large enough to accommodate three people and their luggage with room to circulate. The bathroom was large, bright, and clean.
Despite being very close to the ferry terminal, the room was quiet. We had a great view of the ferry from our room, yet were never disturbed by sound from the harbour.
Stromness is a nice town to explore and the Ferry Inn is centrally located. We had breakfast at the hotel (wonderful!) but had dinner elsewhere only because we were in other parts of the islands.

Stromness Ferry Inn is the ideal location for a few days on the Orkneys. We were very happy with the location and the room. The staff is excellent and the Inn is obviously very well run. The bar is great and the dining room is not to be missed. Make your reservations early though, the place was packed each evening with locals and visitors alike. Shout out to Rose!!

Clean, modern and comfortable room. Great pub, restaurant was limited in choice and food quality did not match the prices. Good breakfast though. There are very few other dining options nearby. No on-site parking but we were able to park mostly for free on the streets or nearby parking lots.

Dopo una giornata di visita agli splendidi siti archeologici e naturalistici delle isole Orcadi, vi consigliamo di pernottare in questa hotel, in perfetto stile locanda scozzese. Nei piani superiori troverete le stanze. Noi abbiamo pernottato in una tripla deliziosa mansardata. Pulitissima, silenziosissima, letto matrimoniale queen size comodissimo. Anche il letto aggiunto per nostro figlio decisamente comodo. Bagno moderno pulito e caldo anche in estate. Scendendo, accederete direttamente al pub dove rilassarvi con ottime birre in attesa di una buona cena (richiesta prenotazione) a base di carne o di pesce. Buona la colazione servita nel pub. Personale gentile compreso lo staff alla reception. Per posto auto non preoccupatevi, se arriverete dopo le 4:00 pm (se ricordiamo bene), il parcheggio pubblico fuori dall'hotel è gratuito e rimarrà tale fino alle 9:00 am del mattino. Cosigliatissimo.

The staff were pleasant and helpful. The location was right on the harbour so there wasn't any convenient parking nearby, be prepared to carry your cases some distance. Yes, the rooms were right above a pub with the pub toilets at the bottom of the narrow stairs to our room. The room itself was hardly big enough to swing a suitcase round in. I stayed in five hotels on the NC500 and this was by far the most expensive and the smallest.

I highly recommend the Ferry Inn to travelers to Stromness. It is very convenient to the ferry and the staff are extremely helpful. We had dinner and breakfast in the hotel and both meals were excellent. Our room was large with few steps which was very helpful since I had mobility issues during our stay. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Ferry Inn. My only complaint was the dinner fare we had the first night. Disconnect between quality of what we had and the cost. That being said, the breakfast is excellent, as is the bar
