This courtyard is state-owned and operated by the Suzhou Culture and Tourism Bureau. The service staff are very friendly and carefully record the different needs of each customer, and will prepare the corresponding matters in advance according to the customer's needs. The courtyard will also arrange a special car for guests to take them to the attractions they want to visit. The special car driver Zhou is very nice and will explain the customs and customs of Suzhou on the way. The room is large and tidy. The hot water for bathing is also very comfortable, and the bathtub is also equipped with a disposable bath bag, which is very hygienic. The independent courtyard restores the environment of Suzhou courtyards, which is very distinctive.

The hotel is located on Pingjiang Road in the east and Guanqian Street in the west. It is an old Soviet-style house hidden in the bustling city. It used to be the residence of the famous Suzhou family "Pan's", and it was named after Pan Zuyin, one of the family members, once won the third flower. It is not only the first store of Huajiantang in Suzhou, but also an experience venue for the design team to restore the beauty of the garden scenery south of the Wanqing River and the living interests of Guipan. There are many guest rooms in the store. The courtyard consists of the entrance hall, the tea hall, the main hall, the inner hall (Pangu Building), and the Zouma Building. The five entrances are all buildings, and the four courtyards are enclosed by the five entrance halls. In addition to guest rooms, it is also equipped with fennel restaurant, VIP private room, conference room, scripture copy room, multi-functional leisure hall and other supporting facilities, making it an excellent leisure and vacation place for travelers to make tea, read scriptures, and listen to music.Huajiantang is a high-end boutique hotel under Huazhu Group. It has three hotel products of different scales: city hotel, vacation club and resort. The brand was born in Lijiang in 2009. With its unique aesthetics of flowers, it perfectly integrates the service concept of high-end boutique hotels with humanistic features such as local dwellings and folk customs, and hopes to create a happy and beautiful modern peach blossom garden for everyone.

Location location location! Talk about being in the middle of all the action but away from all the noise and crowd. This hotel manages to achieve both with class. The garden is small but beautiful, the grounds are well kept, and the staff are friendly and helpful. There are small areas for improvements, such as light and bathroom fixtures, but you’d be nitpicking.

It was my first time in Suzhou, and I had too many choices of where to stay. But considering the traffic in the old city and the narrow alleys around it, it was not very friendly to drive with children, so I finally chose this newly opened hotel.
First of all, the location is excellent. It is located by the small river on Pingjiang Road, and there are photo-taking spots downstairs;
The traffic is also convenient, the alley can be normally entered and exited by car, there is a public parking lot opposite, and the hotel provides parking services;
Facilities: The hotel is a reconstruction of an old building. Due to structural problems, it is impossible to install an elevator. The luggage is carried up and down by the waiters. The hotel bedding is very comfortable, and the toiletries are better than most five-star hotels. Although the room is facing the street, it is not noisy at all.
Service: The service throughout the whole process is above five stars, and I feel cared for at all times. Xiao He at the front desk kept confirming whether we had any needs when we frequently passed by when we went out, and patiently answered any questions. Children can also play in the hotel by themselves without worrying too much. Very pleasant experience!

Good hospitality
Friendly staffs.
Clean and comfortable bedrooms.
Huge bedrooms & super king size bed is a plus point ! It’s nice to rest properly after a whole day outing.
The guy manager is very smart solving my needs.
This hotel is located in the middle of tourist town
So it is very hard to get cab/taxi due to traffic congestion.
However the metro is within walking distance.
Great stay. Getting anywhere in Suzhou is very easy.
Love the idea of they having 24hr laundry room .its definitely easing the stress of bringing back smelly clothes ( it’s really hot in Suzhou! & the immense sweats were horrible )

Service: The girl at the front desk was very kind and upgraded the room from the 3rd floor to the 5th floor. It was the first room at the end of the corridor. It was too close to the balcony and it was quite hot. But it doesn't face the street, so it's not noisy at night, so you can have a good sleep after shopping.
Environment: It is very close to the Humble Administrator's Garden, the Lion Grove, and the museum. When you go out, turn left to Pingjiang Road, which is very convenient. There is a dessert shop downstairs, Luckin is opposite, and there is a Starbucks nearby, which is very convenient.
Cleanliness: Very good, the room is cleaned every day. After a day of shopping, I came back to my room, which was neat and clean.

The staff was very kind and helpful. Thank you to the Assistant Manager Ms Sima for helping me and assisting me throughout my stay at the hotel. I could also leave my luggage free of cost for 24h after check out and pick it up later. I really liked the staff but the room I got was smelly at first but Ms Sima changed it for me and was very helpful.

It is well-located and has a nice infrastructure, but it looks like they are not taking care of the details anymore, so the door of the bathroom didn't work, the kitchen started getting rusty, and the bathroom walls look like they're dirty. Has potential but needs more love.

GGuest UserThis quaint B&B is amazing! From the exterior to the interior decoration, every detail reveals a strong classical charm. The wooden furniture, ancient decorative paintings and traditional decorative style make people feel like they have traveled back to ancient times. Here, you can feel the strong historical atmosphere and experience the ancient way of life. In addition, the service of the B&B is also very thoughtful, and the staff are very warm and friendly, making people feel at home. In short, this B&B is a very unforgettable stay experience, I highly recommend it!
AAnonymous UserI am very satisfied with the service of this orange hotel
The facilities are very new and just opened this year.
The service is also very good. We will respond to parking, takeout, late check-out, etc.
Breakfast is also rich in variety, fresh and delicious
I particularly like the location because it is within walking distance from the Kunshan Culture and Art Center. It is so convenient to watch performances from Shanghai, especially when there are some popular performances that cannot be bought in Shanghai. The curve saves the country and the price-performance ratio is unparalleled.
RRuthWe were happy with our stay here. The room was nicer than it looked online, and the hotel was really clean. There are playrooms for young children that are free (3 rooms with some different toys in each room). The rooms are a bit old and tired, but my 2 year old enjoyed playing there and requested UK hi back lots of times. For parents it is just great to have somewhere for your kid to play and have fun, especially as the weather was very cold when we went! Outside there is a play area and sand digging pit. Location is walking distance from Tongli old town. Restaurant does evening buffet, and buffet breakfast. The food is fine, more Chinese than western, my husband really liked it and my favourite part was the Beijing roast duck at dinner. The pool is warm, with floats and rubber rings to borrow. There is a little land train, it takes a 10 minute trip around the hotel grounds and the cost is 20RMB for one adult and child. For me it was very boring but my son loved it 😂
The staff are very warm and friendly, everyone is very professional. Each guest is connected to a butler on wechat before they arrive so you can easily send a message and get some help. Our butler is Yu Ting and she helped us very professionally.
For me, the things the hotel can improve are (1) the animal petting zoo - by western standard the facilities for the animals are not very good, just concrete enclosure with hut. For foreigners, we do not really like this. (2) We had a problem with the other guests smoking in the hotel, eg in the coffee bar. When I complained to the staff they tried to stop the guests, but even though they repeatedly reminded them to stop, the other guests continued. In the end they arranged for me to move to a private room near the bar where I could avoid the smoking. I was very grateful that they found a solution for me and my baby, but I am speechless there are such guests who flagrantly break the rules and the hotel cannot stop them. We smelled smoke in some different public areas, so maybe this is a problem with several guests 🙁
Overall we are happy with our stay and it is a good place to spend a few days with kids.
LljjjRoom: The room is quite okay, not too small but not too big. We can open two 24-inch suitcases in the room.
Air Conditioning: The air conditioning is a standard unit (not central), and you can use the remote to set the temperature according to your preferences. You can adjust it to be very cold or less cold.
Amenities: Every day, they refill two bottles of mineral water for us. They also provide new slippers, a toothbrush, toothpaste, and shampoo daily. Towels can also be changed every day. There are about 4-5 sockets in the room. Remember to bring a universal adapter, as the sockets are not designed for international use, although there is a USB port that can be used directly.
Shower: The water pressure is not very strong but still acceptable.
Breakfast: The hotel only has a pantry area with 1 table and limited chairs (similar to pantry) and no restaurant.
Transport: The hotel is near the Humble Administrator's Garden (5 minutes walking distance), Lion Forest Garden (3 minutes walking distance), and Suzhou Museum (5 minutes walking distance). The Humble Administrator's Garden and Suzhou Museum are located side by side. If you don’t mind walking, you can also reach Pingjiang Road (15-20 minutes walking distance) and Guanqian Street (15-20 minutes walking distance). For other attractions, you might need to call Didi.
Location: There is a Family Mart located in the same row as the hotel, making it easy to buy snacks. My travel dates are May 21, 2024 - May 23, 2024. There is some construction nearby (it seems to be a new metro construction). It’s not noisy but a bit dusty. When walking to Pingjiang Road and Guanqian Street, you need to walk near the main road and construction site. It can be slightly dangerous, but many people are using the same route.
Laundry: They offer a free laundry service. You can use the washing machine and dryer for free. However, there are only two washing machines and two dryers. Many people use them at night, so you might need to wait when others are using them.
Overall, it is good for a short stay and budget travelers.
YYTZ23We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights with our 10 month old during Golden Week.
Pros:
- Hotel is self-contained and there is no need to leave the hotel. There are large and well-maintained grounds for our daily walks with baby, including museums and traditional pagodas dotted throughout the property. There is a chinese, western (steak, pizza) and japanese (teppanyaki) restaurant within the hotel. There is also a kids play room and swimming pool, along with some other kid friendly activities like rabbit feeding and games on the lawn.
- The hotel is right next to the lake and is quite beautiful. It's very relaxing to stroll along the lake.
- There is an ancient town about 15 minutes walk from the hotel's main lobby. There is a free hotel shuttle to and from the ancient town too.
- Staff are generally friendly and helpful
- Large, family-friendly rooms are available. We stayed in a lake view suite, which was just right for us and our baby.
- Hotel is affordable by international standards
- Hotel is less than 2 hours drive from Shanghai, where we live
- We particularly enjoyed the teppenyaki restaurant where you can get a private room and a private chef to cook your meals
- Despite it being Golden Week, we didn't feel that the hotel was too crowded. Perhaps because the hotel has large grounds.
Cons
- The baby cot given to us had an extremely thin and uncomfortable mattress. To compensate, we were given a comforter to pad the mattress. However, this is unsafe for younger babies, who should sleep on a firm surface.
- The property and facilities are a bit dated
- There were very loud weddings on the lawn facing the lake each day that we were at the hotel. The loud music and emceeing disturbed the peaceful ambience of the place, and also disrupted baby's morning and afternoon naps. For families with children who still need to nap in the day, it may be better to stay in a quieter garden view room instead of a room facing the lake.
GGuest UserThere were a few ants in the first room we booked, but after a few screams and a phonecall we were quickly moved to another ant-free room. The staff were so helpful, kind and willing to communicate in English to the best of their ability. They made plenty of gestures with bowls of fruit, fragrant sacks and even a personal delivery of the food menu when we couldn't find the English menu on the TV. Their frequent arrivals had us jumping in our robes to grab the door every so often, but each time we were grateful to receive such thoughtful snacks and smells. Lovely place. Would visit again.
RRobsterNot knowing Suzhou at all, I thought I had chosen a hotel to suit my needs for exploring the history whilst still being near the modern. This hotel is ideal for both. With a metro station (line 3) Shajinqiao, within a 10 minute walk, literally, just round the corner, and a taxi ride to either end of where I wanted to be costing me under 30RMB, this was an absolute gem of a find.
On arrival, the staff were very good and extremely helpful. I was checked in without any fuss, with the usual pandemic checks, travel codes, health codes and I showed both 48hr and 24hr covid tests.
The room was cosy, with excellent air-conditioning, a very comfortable bed and very clean. The toilet was intelligent, electronic and quite a novelty. It even warmed my posterior whilst sitting on it!
The hotel provides a kettle and 2 free bottles of water daily though there may at one time have been a mini fridge, it was not there on this visit. Breakfast is served at reasonable times with the last orders being done 10:30am. (11 am at weekends). It is a decent spread, predominantly Chinese food, rice, vegetables, meats with cooked-to-order eggs, porridge (Chinese rice style) and a cold buffet. There are delicious pastries, toast and fruit. Tea and coffee are available along with a varied selection of fruit juices. The restaurant is airy, bright and clean. Plenty of seating is available.
Room lighting was bright and cheerful but could be set to 'mood' which dimmed and made for a more intimate atmosphere.
On Didi App, the hotel does not come under Atour Hotel. You will need to search for Yi He Cha Can Yin Guan Li You Xian Gong Si.
At the time of writing, Suzhou was low risk. However, the recommendation was for Suzhou citizens not to travel and if they had to, to show a 48hr covid test. I had a bit of trouble with getting the app to work and thanks very much, eternal gratitude, to the wonderfully patient and supportive reception staff who all contributed, made phone calls and tried their best to get the app to work. Eventually, we succeeded. That is service and that was fantastic.
Highly recommend this hotel.
GGuest UserOverall, I am quite satisfied with the service. The young man received us throughout the whole process with a good attitude and awareness. The family saw us and upgraded our room for free. It is worth praising. The style is quite unique. The serviced apar**ent is modern and simple. The security is very high. You need to swipe your card. 24-hour security. The location is excellent. There are shopping malls behind the Jinji Lake Scenic Area. The transportation is very convenient. The hygiene is also very clean. The bed is very comfortable. I will bring my family to play and stay here next time.
Qqueen_kooIf you’re looking for a perfect 4 star venue in the city centre then look no further! This place is a good bargain all round the year and even in peak seasons. I am going to split my review into sections so bare with me.
1) Rooms: The outdated the rooms need a serious paint jobs and the couch is quite “scratchy” material wise. Despite the interior eye sore, the flats are quite cosy with everything you need. Scenery wise , those who aren’t afraid of heights request the balcony rooms ! Maybe they don’t have the views of the shanghai centre shopping mall but the evening breeze did put me to sleep like a baby! Also the television was well packed with nostalgic movies , I really enjoyed the entertainment. Although the TV volume doesn’t go too loud , I guess it’s good respect to the neighbors some of who are long term tenants.
2) Service: Impeccable. The people here, although clearly overworked are so nice! The housekeepers are all so wonderful ! They were the ones who let me come back to a clean flat everyday , really it was a piece of home with a whole lot of help! For shampoos and conditioners and shower gel you would need to let the front desk know you need it, so please keep that in mind!
3) Breakfast: Just enough for survival , I’m quite particular about my tastes in food where the buffet options were too less and unfortunately not too tasty. But I was able to survive…I really hope they can fix this though cause the place although cheaper than others isn’t exactly cheap as well. If you want a good breakfast spread , you will be left heavily disappointed.
There’s a lot of cost cutting the hotel group has done and it’s obvious…I hope Ascott takes this into consideration cause it’s not good to have better hotels around the world but keep smaller cities forgotten and tightly budgeted!!
Suzhou is quite expensive than other cities due to the constant influx of tourists.
I don’t usually write much for my reviews but In this case I seem to care after seeing the overworked hotel staff and the poor conditions around them.
Come on Ascott do better. I initially was tempted to give a 3/5 review stars but it’s the people that pushed it up.

Excellent
GGuest UserReally beautiful place. It looks to be brand new - maybe it is, maybe it isn't, but it certainly looks new. The room (a suite) was very spacious, very clean. Just a very beautiful place that fit well with the surroundings. The whole building was impeccably clean.
I rated the service 5/5 because the owners were very nice, and largely left us alone. The family was processing tea and were quite busy - check-in was extremely quick, check-out too. I'm not looking for hospitality, so being left alone suited us fine - this isn't a criticism at all! The rooms don't really come with much extra (tea, coffee etc.), just a couple of bottles of water, so best to know that before you book if you usually expect this, but we didn't so we were fine with it.
You can buy really good tea from them (maybe we timed it well as we arrived at the peak tea-picking time). The owners were very kind and let us try some, and it's really good tea - we ended up buying some.
Food was pretty good, but again they were quite busy and have specific times that food is available, and no menu, so best to check ahead with them (again, really taking into account that they were super busy processing tea when we were there). Absolutely not a problem as there are so many great restaurants around too.
TV in the room had VOD but without VIP, so if you're looking to watch movies or anything best to bring your own (including HDMI cable as our TV didn't have one).
Location excellent. Space for maybe 4 cars to park, right next to a small hill, very close to the pick-up point for the sightseeing bus to take you up to Xishan, and surrounded by lots of restaurants, B+Bs etc. so if you like coffee, there's a shop just down the road. Very beautiful surroundings - you will be shocked that you're so close to Suzhou as there's absolutely no evidence that you're anywhere near a city!
All in all, really enjoyable. Amazing price for a suite (around Y500 per night) and one of the better homestay-style places we've stayed in. Highly recommended.
