To summarize - we left within 3hrs due to bugs + hair in the bed and on other surfaces. We kindly asked for a new room, then a refund- we were denied. Do not be fooled by the good reviews - if your experience is anything like ours, you will regret booking this place. I explained the whole situation on other sites, so i'll keep it short here.
We complained about the bugs and were called liars by the manager, Virginia. We were more than amendable, but were treated SO horribly I am still in shock. I am looking forward to Virginia's response to this review, as she tends to gaslight her customers who write less than favorable things.
In addition to bugs, an obvious deal breaker - theres some things about this hotel you should know that also add up to a less than "exceptional" experience.
1) The "jungle view" room is of a dumpster.
2) There was hair on multiple pillows
3) The AC did not work after 3 hours, it was still 80+ degrees in the room. Another review mentions they turn it off after cleaning. It's not powerful enough to cool down after a full day not on.
4) The road to the hotel does not have directional signage and is difficult, even for the experienced Costa Rican driver.
5) The "free shuttle" is for 9 am, 3 pm and 9 pm. Any other time is a twelve dollar one way trip.
6) The restaurant closes at 9 PM. Essentially, lights out, if you choose to take the 9 PM shuttle back
