The scenery is beautiful, the inn that two old couples have run for forty years is full of art and family, and the two twin dogs are full of vitality. The only drawback is that breakfast starts regularly at 8:30, 8:00 will be awakened in advance with Italian opera... like to get up late and social fear choose carefully. However, dining at the same table with tourists from all over the world is actually a very interesting experience.

What a place! All the excellent reviews are true in what they say - superb views, fantastic rooms, excellent service and Gary and Chris cater for your every need. Chris' home made granola is splendid. This is not staying at a "Lodge" but in reality staying with friends at their superb home. I think I can honestly say that probably the best place I have stayed at when travelling.

Lake Taupo Lodge is over the top amazing! Gary and Shirley have done a beautiful job of keeping this property in the best of condition! My husband and I stayed in the Wright Suite for the last 3 nights and it was wonderful! Beautiful shower, wonderful room and comfortable bed, lovely outdoor terrace to view the beautiful lake and beautiful sunrise with the sounds of nature all around you. The grounds are outstanding with beautiful gardens and lovely topiary everywhere. Excellent coffee maker, fantastic breakfast and great recommendations for dinner in Taupo. Taxi service was easy and quick and we found many fun bars, etc. in town. We even were able to watch our hometown team from the USA play Monday night football. If you are in Taupo, I would make Taupo Lake Lodge your first choice. Kind Regards, Jackie and Win Scott

Great hospitality, lovely setting.
Excellent cooked breakfast.
Good position for exploring the region.
The only thing lacking was in-house dining at night but this is available in busy periods. and the host provides details of local restaurants.

Spent two nights in the lodge and wish we had stayed longer. Gary, Shirley, and Chris do a great job. The rooms are large, well decorated and very comfortable, combined with the breakfasts which are wonderful and the afternoon wine and canapés are a top touch. The view and location is magnificent, the house, gardens are well designed. Gary's hospitality was spot on. We loved to hear his amazing tales from his business and life adventures. Would recommend staying at the Lake Taupo Lodge.

Spent two nights in this wonderful lodge in a beautiful part of the North Island and wish we had stayed longer. Gary and his team (big shout out to Chris and Victoria) do a great job- the rooms are large, well decorated and extremely comfortable, the breakfasts are fantastic and the happy hour wine and canapés are a lovely and delicious touch.

This is one of the most perfect places we've ever stayed. The view and location is magnificent, the house, gardens and rooms have a beautiful design. The food by Chris was incredible. Gary's hospitality was as good as it could ever be. We loved to hear his amazing tales from his business and life adventures. This was a magical few days and will remain a treasured life experience for us.

We had a wonderful stay with family. Beautiful gardens that are amazingly maintained. We enjoyed a lovely cooked breakfast. Conveniently located 10 minutes from Huka falls and restaurants. The views of the lake a stunning. Comfy bed and fruit platter.
