The experience at Coco Reef was great the service was exceptional, the breakfast was ok, facilities was clean. My only disappoin**ent was parking in the car park and birds messing on your whole car causing u to wash it over.

DO NOT STAY HERE. You will get the Old Plantation Vibe. The matching floral prints ont the lap shades, bedspreads... will make you nauseous. This is the most DATED, old ran down property I have ever experienced. YOU CANNOT TAKE A SHOWER THE WATER PRESSURE IS SO LOW. You literally have to stand close to the wall and try and catch the drips of water coming from the shower. When you go to make complaints the front desk is apparently trained to say they are hearing these things for the first time. After I was told they have no idea about the shower, another guest came to the front desk and stated "You'll were supposed to move me since yesterday I have no water pressure in my shower". It smells like mold, the food is horrible. It was so bad we left prior to our departure date. We asked for some of our money back and they refused. Do yourself a favor do not visit this run down property. If you have any standards this is not the place to be. Let me make mention that although the workers appear to be working on a PLANTATION, the staff were mostly pleasant even working in such a horrible environment. Do yourself a favor do not go here. They need to take some money and update this hotel because it is ridiculous in 2024 they are still living in the early 1900's. Plantations are OVER.

We returned from 12 days at Coco Reef Hotel on 29th April. We didn't have high expectations of the rooms due to comments on Trip Advisor. However we were pleasantly surprised and had hot water when we needed it, superior Ocean View 239 with beautiful west facing sunset views. We loved the people of Tobago and on the whole the hotel staff and Adrian were friendly, although they could certainly do better to promote hotel services and lunch time food offerings at the bar. We were on a round island trip and arrived at Turtle bay about 30 mins after the English guy was airlifted out following the shark attack. Our guide was so distressed that we spent the rest of the day reassuring him. I do hope that everything has been resolved. I wonder if anyone can help: whilst at the hotel we had a delicious cocktail as a special made using Tobago Gold liqueur. I asked for it a few days later but the bar had run out. I bought a bottle but cannot find the recipe - it contained Tobago gold, Amaretto, rum and something else.....I would be really grateful for the recipe. Thank you for a great holiday - nearly all the guests were Brits and we made some new friends - wish the new management every success

Had the most fantastic 2 week girls only holiday in Tobago. We loved the colonial style rooms, admittedly a little dated but who would want a pure white painted room when in the Caribbean, it would be like a hotel in the UK somewhere. We met Adrian on several occasions and he always had the time for a wave or a chat when he was passing. Very much enjoyed the island tour with Hans, and also he came to find us one evening as we’d mentioned that we’d like to see the turtles nesting. Amazing seeing a 5ft 6 leatherback turtle laying approx 100 eggs, then watch the process of the turtle returning to the sea, she’ll come out about another 4-5 times and lay approximately another 100 each time. So many amazing staff members to mention for the great jobs they do and the friendly nature they provide to the guests. Jahson, Casey, Patrisse, Thomas, Roxanne, Xavia, however there were some who didn’t seem to want to be there, but I’m not going to mention names, but they seemed to shine when Adrian was around then they went back to being miserable, that’s for Adrian to sort. We’ve given this review a 5* as we can’t say our holiday was at all ruined by the odd few unsociable staff, each to their own as they say. We were there when the shark attack happened, very sorry for the family, and yes the sea was closed, but we were able to lay on the beach and used the pool to cool off. The free water sports, including kayaks and SUP Boards were a great addition to the holiday. Going back to Adrian, we’re aware he’s a new manager, but reading previous reviews, he’s already made lots of changes based on comments from previous guests. The food was very good, and I’m quite a fussy eater but there was always something I found to eat. Would we go back, yes, can’t wait, and maybe take the husbands with us next time.

Well.....where to start? First the positives. Our room(246) was large, well decorated and with an amazing view over beautiful store bay. The bed was very comfortable, lots of storage, attractive cane furniture. Plentiful coffee and tea. Efficient air conditioning. The staff were, without exception, delightful. Roxanne cheerfully made the best omelettes, Kasey and another lad gave a good service on the beach and Tristam was friendly and respectful. All the staff were kind, helpful and went out of their way to make our holiday enjoyable and to make us feel welcome. Anything that was broken in the room was fixed quickly and efficiently. The beach was wonderful...soft sand, safe water filled with all sorts of sealife and a choice of sun or shade. Plenty of sunbeds. Paddle boards and canoes free of charge. The food was good. We liked having a menu and being served for most dinners rather than a buffet and although the menu was fairly limited almost everything we ate was delicious. Note that we saw no vegan options and only one vegetarian choice each day. We rarely ate lunch but there seemed to be a wide selection at the buffet. Breakfast was good although I would have liked a bigger range of fruit and better coffee. The all inclusive drinks package gave us everything we wanted and it was a lovely change to have good wine included. We were also able to take drinks to our room. The feel of the whole hotel was comfortable with some lovely areas. We loved the cushions in the lobby and the quirky paintings throughout. The grounds were generally well kept but quite parched. Now the negatives...our shower did not work properly and we would have liked instructions. Even when mended it was only lukewarm (though fine with the heat). We were told what entertainment was on when we arrived but it would have been nice to have more information in the room. The decking was very uneven and the bottom of some steps to the beach had washed away. The toilet paper was almost transparent! No decaf coffee in the room. Toiletries very basic; just soap, shampoo and lotion. No conditioner, shower hats or suchlike. All drinking water (even that served at dinner) came out of plastic bottles and plastic straws were used. I don't know whether they were recycled but in such a beautiful island it seemed all wrong to have so little awareness of the environment. You could refill water bottles from dispensers but these did not seem to be used by staff. It took 24 hours to be given beach towels and after numerous visits to reception we were eventually given yellow rags! Our main criticism was that there was generally nothing to do in the evening. We were there for 11 nights and had two evenings when a DJ played music in the beach bar and one very brief manager's cocktail party supposedly with canapes; we were offered the usual rum punch and crisp and peanuts. There was a very good man with a steel pan but he finished after about half an hour. Only one tiny in

We relocated to this hotel from the other top rated hotel in Tobago (The Magdalena Grand) due to the impact on it of the oil spill clean up works. Coco Reef was not impacted by this. It has a wonderful beachfront with one area of beach that, whilst less shaded, is more secluded and private. The main beach area is excellent with a lovely sandy beach and palm trees affording the opportunity for shade. Our room (329) had a sea view, and a balcony sitting area. It was on the ground floor and I would expect the views of the sea would be better one floor up. Staff were delightful, and seemed genuinely interested in ensuring you had an enjoyable stay. However, some of them were lacking in either training or experience or both ( see later). Beach towels are provided but the system in place immediately creates a sense of lack of trust. You are given a room key style card on check in and hand this over to get towels. You then either hand your towels back and recover your card or obtain fresh towels. This would be understandable (perhaps) if towels were of a high quality and there was a fear of them being stolen. This wasn’t the case as they had been used beyond their practical life. Also fresh towels were frequently unavailable, something we have never experienced elsewhere. Many things were dealt with but reactively, on request, rather than proactively as a matter of course. This included changing of bathroom towels, replenishment of coffee, milk and water. Our room lacked a basic guide or set of instructions- which may address the above. The shower is above the bath. Ours didn’t drain which was immediately addressed on request, but shouldn’t this have been checked before the room was assigned? Our room was spacious and comfortable, with a large comfortable bed. It was air conditioned and the unit was quiet, so we slept very well. The decor could do with being refreshed. Whilst it appears designed to create a traditional feel it may grate with some. The same could be said of the art. However, we enjoyed both the decor and art, but it could be noticeably improved by a refresh. A beget breakfast was served 7 to 10. It provided an array of food as would typically be expected. Eggs (with Roxanne dedicated to their preparation being an absolute joy), beans, potatoes, chicken sausage, toast pastries, fruit etc. However yoghurt appeared only intermittently which was a disappoin**ent for my wife. The availability of all items could be more frequently monitored as items had often been exhausted. They were quickly replenished on request but this shouldn’t be necessary. The orange juice tasted cheap and over processed as well as over sugared rather than more natural. Coffee was basic with nothing beyond drip coffee, so no chance of a cappuccino or espresso. There are multitude of self serve bean to cup machines available to hoteliers and 2 or 3 of those would significantly enhance the experience. There is a pleasant outside bar ( also used for dinner twice a week a

I am coming to the end of a really enjoyable holiday here as I write this. If you are the sort of person who's holiday is ruined by a stain on the curtain and a chipped tile in the bathroom, then this is not for you. As others have said it is frayed in places, but if you're an average Joe like me who wants value for money but still wants a great level of service/food/hospitality/beach, then don't worry, just book this place. Admittedly, we are out of season, but I wonder if previous reviews are about the same hotel as me !!! We have received first class service throughout our stay. My summary.....get booked now !!

We had a lovely stay at the coco reef. The location is brilliant with restaurants just outside and the man made reef is stunning and was like swimming in an aquarium according to my husband. There was just one restaurant open at any time which was a little frustrating as the choice didn’t always suit us. Breakfast was nice most days but this depended on what time we got there, there was more choice when we went early. The hotel is very dated but relatively clean and we didn’t get clean towels every day which became annoying when the towels were very wet. Sometimes we went 3 days before they were replaced. There were a few staff members that stood out, the guy behind the beach bar was great and always had a smile but alot of the staff didn’t appear to want to be there and would rarely crack a smile which was a shame when they live in such a beautiful country. We went to Celebrate a special Anniversary and we were disappointed that it wasn’t recognised by the hotel even though our daughter emailed them and tried to arrange something for us. Tobago is lovely with some stunning beaches and the Coco Reef hotel is said to be the best on the island but it really needs some inves**ent to bring it back to its former charming self as it was pretty rundown in some areas. It didn’t spoil our trip though but you need to go with realistic expectations. We would go back as the beach was amazing and was absolutely perfect for small children.
