Magoebaskloof Hotel

Great location and beautiful scenery! Great service and a really comfortable stay!

Many years ago, before the infamous conflagration that destroyed part of the hotel, I stayed there. Also, every Sunday, my family and I would indulge in tea/coffee with fresh scones, cream and strawberry jam. The bar, then, was most charming. Thus I found my self back at this hostelry, and even the room seemed like the one I stayed in then. Not much has changed. To many travellers, the rooms (I stayed in a Standard room so I cannot report on others) may seem dated - but they are huge! Also, the bed is fantastic! Firm, with good pillows. I enjoyed dinner in the bar and I don't think it has the same ambience as the old one. In the morning, I enjoyed breakfast in the dining area. Here I sampled the English breakfast - and the serving was large, very large. So, that dispenses with the accommodation and the eating. Now the service. Well, perhaps other establishments should send their staff to Magoebaskloof Hotel for training. From the welcome at check-in, to the service in the bar, to the service at breakfast, I found it all exemplary. This is what we know and understand about South African hospitality. By the way, there was no artifice in the friendly attitudes and actions of the staff; I experienced real warmth. In conclusion: I will return to Magoebaskloof Hotel for the comfort and the views and the hospitality.

What an enjoyable experience. The staff at the reception was extremely helpfull and friendly. The restaurant staff was also very friendly. We went to Magoebaskloof Hotel for our 45th wedding anniversary and we loved it. The General Manager of the hotel and restaurant staff spoiled us on Sunday with a beautifull decorated table a lovely cake and a note from all the staff to congratulate us with our anniversary. We really appreciated this act of kindness. The self catering unit wat spacious, neat and clean. The view from our unit was really very beautiful. The gardens are well kept and looked after. I would really recommend Magoebaskloof Hotel for a relaxing get a way weekend or holiday.

Magoebaskloof hotel is an absolute gem! We were treated to welcome dinks, snacks and an amazing bouquet of flowers in the room. The staff were super friendly and helpful and the food was excellent. The hotel has a charming air of a bygone era with dramatic views over the indigenous forests. The trails in the forest allow one to be immersed in all that nature has to offer. Highly recomended! Food and service was excellent. Staff were very professional, helpful and friendly. Chef outdid himself, meals were excellent all the time Beautiful view of the mountains. Rooms were very cosy and tidy. Conference rooms were clean and spacious.

The rooms are Homely and comfortable, the views are breathtaking. A lovely 1.5km walk to the waterfall. The pub is a great vibe with great assortment of drinks, the bar staff is very competent and friendly. The breakfast very tasty met all my expectations
