It was a wonderful hotel. We were scheduled to be guided to Machu Picchu for about an hour after we arrived, but we were late for the tour because we had gone to our room. However, when we told the staff that we were late, a female staff member quickly arranged a private tour for just the two of us. We were given a thorough tour for nearly three hours, during which we learned not only about the ruins and the culture and customs of the time, but also about nature, such as the flowers and birds of Machu Picchu. The food and drinks were also well thought out. We spent the next day relaxing in our room after climbing Machu Picchu. It's not cheap, but you get a lot out of it.

My son and I took a trip for his graduation. It was such a privilege to be able to stay at the base of Machu Picchu. The staff were all amazing and remembered our names immediately. We enjoyed a cooking demonstration and live music at dinner. It was a wonderful stay and I’d highly recommend it!

Great hotel in perfect location if you want to see Machu Picchu day 1 (e.g. after Inka Trail) and visit again early the next day before the crowds. Delightful, professional staff (calling out Jean Carlo in the restaurant for his outstanding, caring service).

Once in a lifetime experience!
Hands down the best way to do Machu Picchu. From John and Alex helping coordinate pickup and transportation to the lodge, to Orlando’s warm welcome at check-in, to Victor’s excellent service at the bar and restaurant, everyone at Sanctuary Lodge went above and beyond to provide unparalleled service. The views, property grounds, food and drinks, service and accommodations are all 5 stars. Access to the Bellond lounge at Aguas Caliente train station was also very useful after Machu Picchu trek and checking out. Overall it was worth every penny and a memorable experience to stay at Sanctuary Lodge!
