H10 Tenerife Playa

It's a nice hotel in a good location for shops and beaches. Very clean with a modern reception area. We went all inclusive which was a first for us and would definitely do again as there was a lot of choice with the food and drinks. The pools are the main attraction and are lovely. We were always able to get a sunbed with no issues and the poolside bar is Now for the reason we would not stay here again! We had a room on the ground floor very near the pool which was okay but the balcony was pointless as it overlooked a car park and part of a road. It was very dark and we had to keep the curtains closed. It also had transparent bathroom door which I loath and the bathroom was a wet room so constantly had a wet floor. The main issue was that it's the side nearest a busy road which has loads of bars and restaurants. Thats fine what you'd expect but there is an Irish bar doing karaoke or themed nights - every night until after 1am! It's so loud that even with the tv cranked up we could hear it like they were outside our room! Any room over that side will be able to hear this but was far worse for us being on the road level. When we arrived we asked for an upgrade which we were happy to pay for but were told there were no rooms available, despite seeing during the week that a lot of the rooms higher up overlooking the pool were empty. Aside for a couple of reception and foodhall staff, we found the staff very unhelpful and sometimes rude! They don't explain things very well when you first arrive so you have to kind of figure things out yourself. My advice if you're going to stay at this hotel is to get a room over looking the pool at least a couple of floors up or round the other side away from the road. If you are put over the road side then ask to move and make sure they do. We accepted it which we shouldn't have done and in hindsight should have moved after the first night. Being typical brits we got on with it and moaned afterwards!! You'd expect noise from a busy hotel with children and entertainment we know that but when you've paid over 2k for your first week away from the kids and you come back looking forward to a quiet night in your own bed something has gone wrong. My opinion is that they shouldn't be putting people in those rooms as they are nothing like as advertised and there was really no need as there were plenty of other rooms available we now know.

The hotel was lovely itself. When we arrived, champage was waiting for us as well as having a buggy take us to our hotel room. (Very helpful after a long flight and arriving at night) -Also tells you how big this hotel is! The rooms were big and in good condition. ( A wee bit dusty for my liking) Beds were OK- not too hard but defo on the hard side. Hotel grounds were lovely, room with a view of the sea. Location of the hotel is more on the quiet front, so i would suggest this hotel is for people who love to stay within the grounds of the hotel and not go exploring. (Unless you hire a car!) WIFI is also good, and there was TV in our room so no issues there. Food- People with allergies would struggle due to the nature of buffet food. There was lots of dairy free options which i was surprised at, gluten free items not to good... It gets incredibly busy breakfast and dinner times, so we timed our meals for when it was more quiet... Hotel staff were lovely from the interactions we had with them. We were out most of the time exploring so didnt use the hotel facilities as much as we would have liked. Would recommend if you want to stay in the hotel grounds and have buffet food. My pros: Large rooms Large hotel grounds Very welcoming and relaxed. Had no issues with smoking (thank god!) Lovely peaceful location. My cons: (Small i know) Not much signs of where things are. Doesnt explain fully the types of resturants and how to book them. Cleaners didnt feel to us they cleaned the floors when they cleaned our rooms. Breakfast and dinner was chaotic for us if we went in the typical times. (7pm start to dinners- tiny bit late? Especially people with kids?) Half board includes no drinks at all in the evening- so this is an extra. Overall a good stay, i would not attend again purely for the food side of things, due to intolerances and how busy it got. Thanks!

Good hotel and location with enthusiastic and very capable staff. The food was generally good and well presented. Our only serious concerns were: 1. Smoking on the balconies - smoke drifted into our bacony and room. 2. Excessive smoking in the pool areas so we had to sit elsewhere. 3. Uncomfortable and lowdown dining room chairs which had angled metal arms with sharp corners. 4. Very loud and distorted audio systems for entertainment and background music which, apart from being very unpleasant, made conversation difficult. 5. Involuntary balcony lights left on until quite late and far too much outside light during the night. We suggest this hotel would benefit from being entirely no smoking. Whilst this would lose some customers, it would easily gain many more who would cherish a smoke free environment.
