If you’re seeking an extraordinary dive and snorkel adventure paired with top-tier hospitality, Sau Bay Resort is an absolute gem. We were captivated not just by the proximity to Rainbow Reef—renowned as one of the best diving spots on the planet—but also by the resort’s personalized and genuinely warm service. Because they are so remote, food selection is limited but the offerings are delicious, conscientiously catered to dietary restrictions and allergies, made with love and care, and with hyper-local ingredients. We were full and happy after every meal. In fact, I was craving fresh papaya and was offered it after every lunch and dinner! All food is included, including cooked breakfast, making Sau Bay top notch value. At the bar, for a non-alcoholic option, try the fresh lemonade, made with a glassful of sweet juiced and crushed lemons, simple syrup to taste, and fresh mint from the garden. The dive and snorkel sites are unparalleled, offering vibrant marine life and coral formations that will blow any underwater enthusiast away. The reefs are pristine and healthy, and Sau Bay is doing their part to keep them like that. The dive pros are experts and give one-on-one guidance for anyone who needs a little extra hand holding. Whether you’re a seasoned diver or a snorkeling novice, the expert guides ensure an incredible experience. The fact that you’re right on the reef means less time in the boat every day, and more time in the water. What truly elevates the experience, though, is the staff. Every detail is attended to with care, from the moment you arrive until the time you reluctantly leave. The team made us feel like family, catering to our needs in a way that felt both personal and effortless. Note this is an eco resort so plan/pack accordingly — there is no pool, convenience store of snacks, or TVs — but the WiFi by the shore is fast, they have a fully stocked bar, a nice collection of books to borrow, and a fantastic swing / some lovely hammocks by the water to read them in. The beach also isn’t great for swimming, but divers/snorkelers will be so fascinated by the underwater world right outside their front door, they won’t miss it. Be sure to check out Sau Bay Sanctuary for top-notch snorkeling the day before you fly when you can’t dive: it’s 5 mins away by boat and the coral are the perfect depth for snorkelers. We went in September and the visibility of all the dive and snorkel sights were fantastic. Our massages were also blissful — right on the water, with the sunlight coming in through the white curtains and only the sound of the waves on the shore! Highly recommended. Sau Bay is a very small resort offering 100% personalized service. This meant semi-private or private activities, as well as dining. The owner Leo went above and beyond customizing us a diving and snorkeling package perfectly suited to us. For an unforgettable blend of adventure and relaxation, and exceptional value for small-group diving around the Rainbo
