Daios Cove

This is our third time in Daios. The best hotel in Crete! The only thing they should change is the old TV's in the guest rooms.

This property is absolutely gorgeous, the beach is stunning. Not too big but had all amenities. I was there for 5 days with my husband and 3 yo and we loved every minute of it. We are already planning to go back with our extended family.

Amazing resort. The food is out of this world, service was also outstanding. All managers are very attentive and manage a great team. The beach is private and it’s right at the bottom of the resort. Water is clear and very clean, and lovely…..

We have been to a lot of “family luxury” type resorts, and this has been one of the best - the rooms are beautiful, the staff and service are super professional and friendly; the food and drinks were uniformly very good - the a la carts restaurants are great (especially Taverna) and Pangea is one of the best buffets I have come across - not a massive menu and they didn’t bother with the usual “themed” nights, just varied and good quality Cretan and Greek (and some “international”) staples. Everything was fresh and tasty. The kids loved the kids club - the hotels’ own kids club (there is also a Scott Dunn one, I don’t know about that) was great and had some very well qualified staff who made the sessions fun and interactive for the kids. They were happy to go to kids club regularly. There were also daily evening activities for the kids. The beach is not enormous and you have to get down there reasonably early to get a spot which doesn’t lose the sun mid afternoon (in October) but if you book a room with a pool (which is a lot of them….) this is less of a must - we had the “basic” family room though with no pool and even that was very well appointed and felt very luxurious and spacious The “all inclusive” (Residents’ Club) is a definite for this resort I think - there is not much else around so you will be dining on-site and the regular prices for meals and drinks are steep. By contrast the Residents’ Club is excellent value and genuinely includes almost everything - minibar; three meals a day; all the a la carte restaurants with very few supplements and no limits on how many nights you can go there; champagne; room service (even a bottle of wine we ordered to room service after dinner one night was included) - it’s the most inclusive “all inclusive” I have ever come across - fantastic There is not a lot around the hotel - you’ll need a car to get anywhere else. But will you need to? I would say for a 5-7 night stay, probably not! The gym was a strong point here - lots of equipment and well maintained and kept clean. The view from the treadmills is amazing, over the cove! But disappointing there is only one tennis court (the other one has been turned into some sort of outdoor sports arena which didn’t look like it gets a lot of use) - we only managed to get one hour of court time in a week which was a bit annoying as we had brought out rackets out Overall an excellent stay and a strong contender for repeat visits!

We had the most amazing holiday at Daios Cove! The food and service was excellent everywhere. Also the views are breathtaking. We were in one of the collection suites, these rooms are so beautiful! Thank you for the amazing time and we will defenitely return!!

We spent 10 days here as we were looking for somewhere comparable to Ikos and Sani where we have been several times. Sadly it didn’t live up to the standard we were hoping. They have their new rooms which are beautiful but in general the hotel lacks the service & standard. The views are amazing but this is where it ends. Not enough restaurants so we ate out most meals. Food is good except in buffet which is chaos where you are bundled in to rooms depending on if you have children & barely any air conditioning anywhere. It was like sitting in a glass box at most meals and the temperature in Crete was nearly 40- very uncomfortable!! Staff are patchy & some border on being quite rude. Pool is tiny for the 300 room hotel with no space on all 10 days we were here. Sat like sardines & the beach was the same. After paying £15k we will not be returning! Don’t go here if you are trying to beat Ikos. You won’t get it here! There is no management anywhere and when I talked to them twice they listened intently but didn’t do a thing about it. It struck us that it is run mainly by middle management.
