Enjoyed a wonderful autumn lunchtime meal at The Priory. The food was delicious and the service provided by Christian and Izzie was superb. Table had stunning views over the river on beautiful sunny afternoon. Lovely relax in the Drawing Room over coffee with a roaring fire.

We had lunch in the main restaurant with a beautiful view of the gardens and river. Both the food and service were excellent. Christian’s burst into song to my husband joined in then by the whole restaurant was a birthday treat for my husband. Highly recommend the venue and special thanks to Christian and Lucinda for exceptional service and making our birthday lunch special.

Our family came here for a birthday lunch at the start of November, and it was a delightful experience. We found time to walk through the beautiful grounds before we dined, and enjoyed the Autumn colours and the riverbank. Staff were really helpful, friendly and professional, the food was delicious and beautifully presented. The Manager went the extra mile to help my daughter who needed to catch a train and was let down by a local taxi service - what a star! Definitely worth treating yourself to.

We came here on a recommendation. We had such an incredible, long lunch for my boyfriend’s birthday. Christian and Norman our waiters were impeccable, knowledgeable hosts that made us feel so welcome. We’ll definitely be back again very soon!

This was a lunch time visit to celebrate a family birthday at the riverside restaurant. The restaurant overlooks the river providing a wonderful vista. The restaurant is well set out and provides a relaxing ambiance. On arriving we were well received by the staff who gave a run down on the menu, and assuring us that we only have to ask for assistance. My wife and sister in-law opted for smoked haddock croquette, which they thoroughly enjoyed, I opted for the Goats cheese with with figs and melon, super tasty. The mains for the girls was fish pie, and myself mussels, again empty plates. Only my wife and I had the dessert for which we selected Dorset apple tart with cream. The wine selected was Muscadet, reasonably priced. Followed by 3 Cappuccinos. An exceptionally enjoyable lunch which was £45 for three courses, great value for money. The car park is not very large , so it may pay to have an early lunch.

Went for dinner at the Priory (had family staying at the hotel). The food was delicious, and the venue was beautiful but the best part about the evening was the service. Literally everyone who worked at the hotel was absolutely lovely, attentive and really friendly. Special shout out to Christian who really went above and beyond to make our evening meal fun! Definitely recommend this place.

I celebrated my birthday with lunch at the Priory on Saturday. As ever, the setting was beautiful, we had a great table looking out onto the river. The food was excellent, and I cant praise the staff enough for how well they looked after us. My Mother was particularly taken with the non-alcoholic cocktail that Christian made for her, and Paul made sure we had everything we needed throughout the time we were there. Unfortunately, we didnt catch the name of the young lady who also served us, but she, too, was attentive and charming. I would recommend the experience for anyone who has a special occasion to celebrate.

The hotel and grounds are very well kept and for a historic building well maintained. The grounds with the river at the bottom are really beautiful. Dinner and Breakfast were superb and had a good variety of options. The kippers for breakfast were exceptional. There are a number of lounges around the hotel to relax. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We will return, but we will avoid the Arne Room. Not only is it in the roof space and so there is a steep fight of stairs and a cramped room at the end. However, the main problem was the repeated buzzing every 5-10 minutes that was possibly the mini-fridge or heating. Had we been staying longer than one night we would have complained.
