We have bee doing a weekend at Claybrook every winter for years now, but took a break during Covid. Coming back this year, I noticed that the rooms had dramatically increased in price - that's passable, as so many other things have, too. But ultimately we found the price simply unjustifiable, largely because of the ultra dated, poor quality pullout bed. I can't recall if we did 2-bedroom units before, or if maybe other units we had had better pullout beds... or maybe when our kids were younger they could swing a terrible mattress better than they can now (they are 10 and 12 now). But ultimately, inflation aside, there is simply no way my family can justify paying $1,000/night for a room that "sleeps 4" but the pullout couch is out of the 1980s. The mattress on the pullout was probably only 4-6" thick, and it was covered by one of those flimsy, thin, gross old mattress pads with big elastics that slides around on the mattress. Then it was just sheets and a brown, also ancient-seeming, pilled type of blanket. Sorry, no, nobody who is shelling out $1,000/night would ever sleep on a mattress like this, with bedding like that. If we come back, we'd need to bring our own air mattresses and sleeping bags, as even that would be better. But for the price, Claybrook should provide an updated, quality pullout couch with a decent mattress and nice bedding. Also - Slow drain in the bathroom sink and shower, not cool for $1k/night. Staff was friendly and courteous.
