We were a family with kids 3 and 7. We booked a triple room but got given a quad which was nice. It was a heat wave, but the aircon was super cold. The room and common areas were clean and inviting. The pool was a great escape from the heat. It was easy to walk into town and the Cairns Central Mall was across the road. I need to come again by myself and will be booking here again.

Nice large clean room, plenty of tea, coffee etc. provided. Staff very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Raintrees Shopping centre across the road where busses leave for the city every few minutes, there was even a covered waiting area just outside the resort for tour pick ups. I definitely recommend Palm Royale.

I left another local hostel after one night as it was just too noisy - I wanted a place for a good rest so that I could really enjoy all the amazing day trips nearby. This place did just that! I booked a single occupancy room (shared bathroom) on the day and stayed for 4 nights - great value for money and really did the job - I had a perfect rest here. Other guests were of all ages and were friendly. The hostel was very quiet at night and put on some optional entertainment (I chose not to partake and it didn’t disturb me at all). The pool area is small but great! Big kitchen area to cook in and store food. The staff were great at helping me book day trips and the location is fantastic for these (I did the Great Barrier Reef, karunda skyrail and daintree trip from here and the location was perfect). I would definitely stay again!

Convenient, near the marina and the city center. Within walking distance, the room's large kitchen is fully equipped with dishwasher and laundry. The two-bedroom room for 4 people is great for a holiday with friends.

I originally booked a hotel room for 2 nights and I have received confirmation. However, when I arrived at the hotel on the same day, the receptionist responded that there was a problem with the system. The room was full and the room could not be provided. However, the hotel immediately made arrangements to arrange the apartment next to the hotel. The apartment is very large, has 2 bedrooms and the kitchen is fully equipped.

The location is dead centre cairns city, the 4 bed dorm is good for a group. The kitchen on level 4 is lovely, although some other quests do not clean up after themselves. The pool is lovely & you can get discounts on food and drink in the bar. The the aircon in the room cannot be controlled, we had to sleep in hoodies because it was so cold in the room. There is then NO aircon in the communal areas, making it incredibly uncomfortable to cook or relax. There is not clothes horse for drying clothes. The music that plays every night until 3am can we heard in every room in the hostel! One of the bar waitresses was very rude, pass-remarkable, made personal comments (weight/clothing) and poorly mannered in general.
