Charming 'English country house hotel' , friendly staff however some need extra training on their service levels as service in bar and especially breakfast was very slow and disorganised. Otherwise our room (Camilia) was very comfortable with a super view, the highlight of our stay was dinner at 'the avenue' by Tom Hamblet, he's a superb chef , our tasting menu was sublime , its worth treating yourself!

We had a lovely overnight stay - we booked the junior suite and dinner/breakfast offer. A friend also booked a smaller room. The room was large and great for us to be able to sit together before dinner. The smaller room was also a good size and perfect for our needs. Dinner was fabulous, great food, good staff and we weren't rushed at all. Breakfast was also lovely, with our various requests well catered for. The weather was not good - we had gone for the Christmas markets which were cancelled due to storm weather, so we didn't have an opportunity to walk the grounds, but what we saw from the windos looked lovely. It is not a cheap experience, but it is one that we very much enjoyed and would hope to repeat in the future.

To celebrate a few memorable occasions in our lives, my friends and I visited Lainston House for Sunday Lunch. The service was excellent but the food was very average and certainly didn't live up to the price we were charged. The plates were too small - a pet hate of mine - and the Yorkshire pudding was like a lump of cardboard. The potatoes resembled frozen ones and weren't good and the carrots and parsnips were soggy. Our lunch was served in The Well House where everything is smoked - even the custard! A but too gimmicky! The roast beef was variable some good, some very fatty. The homemade bread and butter were both excellent but you don't expect Sunday lunch to just have good bread and butter, if at all!

Our third visit this year to Lainston House, this time to experience Tom Hamblet’s relaunched The Avenue - it did not disappoint! With a tasting menu with choice it meant we could both have something fantastic. It was a truly amazing culinary adventure, thank you to Tom, Holly and the team for a brilliant chef’s table experience and to Alberto for such superb wine pairings and knowledge delivered in a warm and engaging way. The team at Lainston House make you so welcome, with a friendly smile and excellent service it is a special place to stay, with a big thank you to Chloe, Rhiannon, Sophie, Gerry, Rhona and Evie for making our stay so good.

My first afternoon tea and it was just like a fairytale. We were given A+ attention with affable and gregarious servers who helped us feel extra special. Nick and Olivia were super excellent all around. Everything was delicious and the ambiance was spectacular. My boyfriend thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Another wonderful overnight stay at this marvellous hotel set in beautiful extensive grounds. Staff were attentive, courteous and helpful. Room was spacious and comfortable with tea and coffee making facilities provided. Wonderful oak lined bar and lounge room with comfy sofas overlooking the grounds. Breakfast was ample with a combination of continental and full English. It was lovely treat to stay and I can’t wait for my next visit. Thank you also for the lovely anniversary greeting and gifts left in our room.

The individually decorated rooms are charming, very comfortable, well appointed ,(and actually have 2 armchairs!) and beautifully decorated. Our room had a great shower and jacuzzi bath. It was snowing when we arrived so it was great to be welcomed by a roaring fire. The Avenue restaurant was closed for refurbishment so we dined both nights in the Wellhouse where everything is cooked in wood fired ovens. The food is delicious, the staff are lovely and the chefs passionate about their craft and took time to chat to us after dinner. There is a lovely bar serving great cocktails and a fine selection of whiskies. Breakfast was table service and excellent. It was a shame not to be able to explore the grounds but we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the great, friendly service.
