Hotels Near Die Schafergruppe in Wuppertal

This review does not refer to the hotel, but only to the restaurant in the hotel building. The hotel is located at the end of a rather densely built residential street with chaotic parking conditions. The hotel does have its own parking lot and a small parking garage, but even this fills up quite quickly, especially when large family gatherings are held in the restaurant. The rooms of the restaurant can be found by passing through some rather confusing and winding corridors. The ambience is a bit old-fashioned. The service is not really professional, which you notice during the whole stay. Even the payment process only works reasonably promptly if you intercept your waitress at the billing computer. You have to wait a long time before you get the chance to reorder drinks. So you sit for quite a long time in front of empty glasses. But now to the main thing: food. Various schnitzels are offered with French fries and a side salad. The salad is okay, but the schnitzel not at all. The meat is dried out, the breading has a consistency that corresponds to that of frozen products. The whole product is too salty and not really edible. Thus, several guests ate the schnitzel only in part. And this was not noticed by the waitress. It was also not asked at all whether the food was okay. The fries, on the other hand, were edible. A very long time ago, this was a recommendable restaurant where many locals liked to eat.

I was charged more than the agreed price and the hotel refuses to respond to my complaint. I was in the neigborhood and called them after seeing their prices on their site. Based on their offer I went to the hotel, the check-in took a long time because of computer problems. They charged my credit card, I asked for the bill to check it but they said I would get it at check-out. When I complained the next morning they would follow up later. They now deny it and claim I got a better room, but the price of my room on their site is still much lower than paid.

Great Ibis hotel with excellent service and a committed team. Family atmosphere. Clean, functional rooms and an excellent breakfast. Nice service at the hotel bar. Unbeatable value for money. Highly recommended. Would happily go back. Welcome drinks for all guests. Unfortunately no welcome treatment. But very friendly service.

It was a pretty decent stay. The room and the washroom were clean.

The hotel is just a few minutes from the Philharmonie U-Bahn station or just a 15 minute walk from the main station and hence very nicely located. The staff are very professional and gave me a good welcome. The room was very well-kept and for the price, a good size. Excellent WiFi coverage at good connectivity speeds. Overall, a very nice stay in a very nice hotel.

The hotel is 20 minutes walk from Essen Central Railway Station, not far from the pedestrian street, walking is within walking distance, parking is also very convenient downstairs in the hotel itself. The parking fee is 17.5 Euro/night, which is a bit more expensive. The parking fee has to be paid in advance and not accepted. It is estimated that inflation in Europe has been quite severe in the past two years. I feel that prices are soaring, and prices for meals and accommodation are rising.

Nice location, you can walk by the river or to the village with its restaurants. Bier garten also nice. A few things could be better: breakfast foods were hardly ever refilled, so no fruit, juice, nutella unless you get there early. What was worst however was the reception. On checkout they made us pay for someone elses restaurant bill, and when we went back because that was not ours, she did not even apologize but instead looked at us suspiciously. Did she really think that bill full of alcoholic beverages was mine? I am quite visibly pregnant. So here is a tip: check the room number by viewing the key before putting the bill on someone elses room. Anyway the restaurant wasnt great, after the main course they never asked us if we wanted anything else (so no desert or 2nd drinks..). Overall I got the impression they were understaffed & the staff could learn something about service.

I was staying with a friend in a twin room for two nights, to visit a member of the Starlight Express cast, the Hotel is perfectly situated right next door to the Theatre. The Reception Staff were very welcoming and our room was esy to find, using a lift. The room itself was very clean, spacious and airy (it was a very hot weekend). Water (both Still & Sparkling), was provided. The bed was very comfortable and bedding crisp and clean. Bathroom was fine with a good Shower. Room would be improved by supplying Tea & Coffe making facilites and an extra mirror, as good mirrors in bathroom and one full ength on Bathroom door, but the room could de with another mirror in the main room, so that two people can get ready at the same time. The Breakfast was really good, with an excellent choice of Continental, with a smaller choice of cooked, but excellent all around and the Coffee was very good. The Courtyard area is a lovely area for coffee or a Cocktail and the restaurant staff were really friendly, professional, with all staff speaking English. I hope to be staying again next year- thank you very much team H!
