Staying for 2 nights with my mama by a holiday coach company from Scotland. Hotel was lovely, cleanliness and wide room. Breakfast buffet and dinner were excellent. Good choice of vegan/vegetarian meal. Staff were really friendly and helpful.

Absolutely beautiful grounds & old building but not a proper hotel venue. We attended for a wedding which was absolutely wonderful, food excellent & drinks reasonably priced. However, the accommodation resembles student accommodation, with very basic facilities and was an absolute rip off at £90 per night. The room was not clean, finding multiple hairs and even some mould in the bathroom upon arrival. The bathroom had the usual notice you would expect to see; asking guests to hang towels you’d like to keep or place them on the floor for fresh ones. As they were very wet we left them on a pile in the bathroom but unfortunately the room did not get cleaned during our stay. When we arrived back to the room in the early hours of the morning we were greeted to an un-made bed and our pile of towels from earlier which is just outrageous and something I’ve never experienced before in any hotel.

Having been on a lot of coach trips, holiday breaks and days out, I've had different experiences. Some places think a coach party of slightly more senior people will put up with anything, occasionally extremely poor, but not here. I went with approximately 50 people for a three course Christmas lunch. It was served beautifully, as would be at a top restaurant with a fantastic meal. When we arrived our names and food choices were on place cards on a table in the hall. That meant that once we had chosen our seats the staff went round and noted every course for every person on every table. This meant each table were served at the same time and with the chosen meal. Brilliant idea and very professional.

Five of us stayed here for five days as we were doing a course near by. Having read some of the reviews I did wonder what we had booked. All I can say is that we had a great time. The staff were really attentive and friendly. The food was amazing, we all ate far too much. A meat choice, a fish choice and a vegetarian choice each night - not good if you are a fussy eater but we all really enjoyed it. A cosy bar and a separate coffee room meant there were different places to sit on an evening. Lovely grounds to walk around too. All the bedrooms were very similar, bigger than expected and ideal to spread out in.

After a number of cancellations due to covid we were finally able to have our Daughter’s wedding at The Hawkhills in October. During the planning of the event Kasha, the Events and Weddings Executive could not have been more helpful. On the day the whole team ensured that everything ran smoothly and to plan like a military operation. Many of our guests commented on the food, in quantity, quality and excellent presentation. The guests also commented that the staff could not have been more helpful and willing to go the extra mile to make the day a success. As part of the package The Hawkhills had also booked a Toastmaster, Peter Aust whose professionalism ensured that the ceremonial parts of the day all went smoothly. Thank you to all the staff at The Hawkhills!
