Strolling through the ancient city of Huizhou

The ancient city of Huizhou, also known as Shexian Ancient City, was historically called Xin'an County. It is located in Huicheng Town, Shexian, Huangshan City, Anhui Province. The city was first established during the Qin Dynasty, and since the Tang Dynasty, it has been the administrative center for the Huizhou prefecture, state, and county. Therefore, the county and prefectural governments were both located within the same city, creating a unique 'city within a city' style. The Shexian Ancient City, rebuilt during the Qing Dynasty, is divided into the inner city and outer area, with four gates to the east, west, south, and north. In addition, it still retains features such as the urn city, city gates, ancient streets, and alleys. The four great ancient cities of China are Huizhou Ancient City in Anhui, Pingyao Ancient City in Shanxi, Langzhong Ancient City in Sichuan, and Lijiang Ancient City in Yunnan. The scenic spots within the city include Huizhou Prefecture Yamen, Hui Garden, Yuliang Dam, Xu Guo Stone Arch, Dou Mountain Street, Tao Xingzhi Memorial Hall, Xin'an Stele Park, and Taibai Tower. Visiting the Huizhou Prefecture Yamen requires an admission ticket, and you can also climb the city wall to take in the entire panorama of the ancient city. The ancient city is approximately a 15-20 minute drive from the Shexian high-speed train station.
