The core area and birthplace of ancient Huizhou culture

Shexian ancient city, the core area and birthplace of ancient Huizhou, is now renamed to Huangshan City. However, the center of ancient Huizhou was in Shexian. In ancient times, Huizhou was equivalent to a prefecture-level city, governing six counties. Today, one of the six counties, Wuyuan, has been incorporated into Shangrao in Jiangxi, and Jixi has been assigned to Xuancheng, leaving Shexian as a county under Huangshan City. Nevertheless, Shexian still retains a large number of ancient relics and traditional culture. There are many ancient villages with Huizhou-style architecture, and the county town itself has many ancient houses. The county town, where the ancient city is located, has a beautiful environment with the Xin'an River flowing through it, and the surrounding mountains are clearly visible, with the charm of ancient Huizhou still emanating here. Huizhou ancient city, except for being a bit crowded during holidays, is quite perfect.
