This majestic building is steeped in history which really adds to the enjoyment of a stay there. We had 3 nights B&B with friends and also dined in on one evening. Food was excellent but the real standouts were the friendly, helpful staff. Not only did they help with all our holiday stay requirements they shared the story and history of the hotel - which is almost 150 years old. For an old hotel the owners have done a great job in maintaining the building and it was a warm, comfortable setting for an autumn break. Highly recommended.

We stayed here for a cheap night away with our 8 year old, most hotels were more expensive and didnt offer much as in were very small no bar or entertainment. The bar was really big and had a sea view we had a few drinks before we went out for tea. There was a dancefloor and stage. Plenty of space for my son to play around whilst we had a drink. Tram stop right outside to the town. Room was very spacious yeh it wasn't the newest but with the price i wasn't expecting it to be. However it was clean and comfy. We had a Seaview room but had scaffolding outside our window so the window was quite dusty but that couldn't be helped. We didnt eat there however we walked past the breakfast buffet and everything looked lovely and i did look at the hygiene rating and its a 5 so. Check in was super fast and parking for the night was only £3. The hotel had a singer on and the kids were happy playing on the dancefloor so family friendly. There is also a pool which we didn't get chance to use but a great facility for the price. I would defo visit again

this hotel has everything,spotless,good food ,brilliant staff,location. even our dog had a good time,a small park across the road was perfect for exersize. many thanks to all staff for making us welcome. we will certainly return.

We have just returned from an overnight stay. We had booked the suite ( coniston). Upon arrival we were quickly dealt with by reception. The hotel is running on a skeleton staff but all were helpful. Our suite wasnt ready but the happily stored our luggage so we could go into Blackpool and would call when it was ready which they did. The hotel itself is in a 10 min walk of the north pier and tower. From the outside it looks a little tired. The main door doesnt work and decor is dated. The suite however was very spacious. It stretched across 5 windows all tower facing with a great view. The only down side to this was the windows needed a good clean. The suite was modern and had 2 bathrooms a dining area a living area and bedroom. It was clean and tidy however there were noticable stains on the carpet and furniture which they had cleaned in the past. But overall was very pleasant. The bath was lovely nice and deep. We only paid 179 for the night when peak charge can be around 300 so i felt at this price it was worth it. The only thing that would of made it better and i would expect if paying top end would be a robe slippers and possible complimentary mini bar. The bed was very comfortable and the addition of a fan was welcomed. However no hairdryer! We didnt eat here as we ate at the beach house (highly recommended and it didnt dissapoint! )At this price point we would return again and plan to in the future.

I really like this hotel, staff are brilliant and the full bottom of bottom is great. That’s where it does end though. House keeping continuously make the same errors that I have first hand found 3 years in a row. Dirty urine and blood stained bedding. Smelly and dirty stained towels being left. Areas within room not cleaned down between stays. Basic bed change and bathroom clean however wiping all surfaces and dusting etc isn’t always done. This could be improved by house keeping inspections. I was so disappointed that I returned after a bad experience on the promise of a return for 50% cost due to issues encountered last year to find the same issues we faced again. My children left urine and blood stained duvets and pillows with the covers. Disgusting. Well over an hour to be brought more , 3 children waiting to sleep whilst I am informed the staff member was sent on a wild goose chase to locate bedding - unsure of this but thanked the staff member as it’s not front reception staff fault at the end of the day. The view and location are great but without clean rooms and bedding not even a free stay is worth considering.

My friend and I and our two twelve year olds had a lovely 3 day stay at The Bluewaters Hotel. We got what we paid for and more. Really had a fun time. I swithered on booking as the reviews were awful, but was swayed by the attraction of a swim. So pleased I was. Fabulous location, the best staff, great fun... But please note.. - Swimming costs £5 per person/ child for every hour. I was happy to pay that. And you have to book in advance. I would advise getting changed and ready for your swim in your room and taking a dressing gown with you AND importantly asking for towels before going for your swim... and ladies... No hair dryers in the changing area which is a tad chilly. - The room we stayed in was cold on arrival but they were happy to turn on the heating earlier than it would have gone on with the timer. - Dinner is served downstairs of an evening £16.50 for adults, £8 for children.. I seriously recommend going elsewhere... Go to Nandos instead... dinner in the hotel is edible, but everything else about it is awful. - If you aren't driving... invest in tram tickets... it's the best way to go. A group day ticket for up to 5 adults is £18, lots more options depending on your group size and length of stay. - Breakfast is fine. - Take some of your own wine and beer. The bar is fully stocked and prices for sitting in are reasonable, but for a wee drinky in the room.. go co-op (there is one less than 10 minutes walk away). - We discovered by accident the live entertainment on Saturday night... no idea how often this happens and when, but it was really good fun. The weans didn't know any of the songs, but (showing my age a bit here)... I did! - The beach is very close... if you don't take advantage and have a paddle you are missing the best bit of staying here. - The lift was broken when we stayed... be prepared for many stairs if like us you find yourself on the third floor. This is an honest and straightforward Blackpool hotel with no pretensions. We had a great time... if you go open to what is on offer at such a reasonable rate... I hope you enjoy as much as we did.

Lovely stay over the weekend while at a training course in Lancaster. The hotel is located in the centre of Lancaster so is really convenient with plenty on your doorstep. The hotel itself has had a refurb and has lovely modern clean rooms. The reception staff were extremely helpful particularly Chelsea who is a credit to the team.

Thank you to all the staff you made mine and my friends few days away the best. The staff are amazing so friendly. The food superb. Our room was a bit on the small side but had everything we needed and a sea view. I never normally go to the entertainment but so glad i did i laughed so much and it was singers that were on. I have had a horrible 7 months and this little break as helped me so much. Defo going to go back.All our love Sue and Carol room 400

I chose the hotel given it was next to the University that I wanted to visit. The hotel was clean, spacious and friendly staff. A special mention to Carolyn who was particularly helpful and gave me useful information about the town which I last visited 26 years ago!

Nothing wrong with the hotel in general, but the PARKING IS £18 PER NIGHT!!!!! A TOTAL RIP-OFF!! No-one told us the parking was going to cost that much! All it said on the Trip.com website was paid parking, which you don't expect to be £18 per night!!!! Very disappointing and it spoiled our trip to Blackpool. Don't think we'll be back to this hotel!!

I’ll start with the negative. Booked online months ago, and realised a week before that I had booked the wrong week. Having e mailed the online service they basically said tough!! However excellent staff on the phone helped me to resolve my issue. We had to upgrade rooms from twin rooms to double doubles. Check in was excellent and staff on reception were great. The three rooms were all on the same floor. They were very clean and the only negative would be that the bathrooms are a little tired looking and could do with a bit of tlc. Breakfast was good and Dot in the restaurant was so helpful, chatty and informative about the hotel, breakfast and Blackpool. We used the indoor and outdoor pool and facilities and it was all excellent. On the last night we ate in the pub bar. They serve until 10 which is a bonus and although I think the food is a little pricey it was really good and the service was spot on, again with really lovely staff. The location is by the Zoo and is a bus ride from the town centre. If there is only a couple of you buy the inclusive bus and tram tickets. If a few more (we were a group of six) it’s cheaper to get a cab (about £10). I like this hotel and currently what makes it a great place to stay is 100% the staff.

I booked the Henson Hotel for the location I needed for my needs. I was greatly surprised for the good that my stay was. Firstly the location was very good. Then the room, this was comfortable and adequate on the bases of the stars the hotel has recieved. The staff, Adam and his team were welcoming attentative and informative. Then there's the food delicious, plenty of it, well cooked and a good variety. Plus the usual cereals fruits, drinks and pastries. Some areas of the hotel are a little tired, the decor and some fixtures and fittings. On the whole this a very good value clean hotel to stay at for the money you pay. With a little polishing up in certain areas another star could be added. Thanks guys.

Quite frankly we do not know where to start, If I could I would give ZERO stars The only redeeming feature for this hotel (calling it a hotel is a joke) is that it is very close to the M6 making it a perfect stop off on a long journey. The whole place smells of damp really smells it's quite over powering in both the basement corridors & our executive rooms bathroom. How could you possibly call this an executive room, the carpet was minging, the only soft seat chair looked like it was 50 years old which contained so much grime who knows what it had been used for previously. There was a bedside table missing, the furniture looked as if it was from the 1960's. As for the bathroom ZERO ventilation, mould all around the bath & basin, the shower had been leaking meaning the bath side panel was rotten, AND stains on the ceiling clearly from the room above leaking. The food was dire, served in dirty dark unattractive rooms. The night we arrived we went along to the restaurant NO one was seated & we asked for a table - the rude waiter said have you booked, I said no and was told to return to reception to book a table. Talk about jobs worth this attitude was beyond a joke. I wish we had gone by our instincts and ventured to a local pub. We sat down & we're given a fairly extensive menu but then told the chef was off, and only burgers & fish & chips could be served. Our food arrived it was passable BUT very expensive for what it was. The drinks prices were extortionate. At best it was Wimpy standard, but The Ivy prices. We heard other people complain about the poor choice of food available. The breakfast was poor, very slow service by people who clearly did not want to be there, why is this served in the darkest room in the hotel. Perhaps so you can not see how dire the whole experience is ?? All in all it is fair to say we will NEVER return. This place should be demolished and a new hotel built on site. The space, lighting, sanitation, and facilities of the room are relatively good. The bed is a little smaller. The worst thing is that the exhaust fan outside Room 405 is very loud, which seriously affects rest. The machine is turned off at 11 o'clock in the evening

Friendly reception, very clean, superb breakfast, great hotel, our only criticism was the room lighting was very poor. The bulbs must have been ultra low wattage.

We stay here quite regularly - not because the hotel is fabulous but because it's the only one in the area which has proper king sized beds available, and because the location is perfect as we are driving down the A6. They don't do weddings either which means you dont have all that noise to contend with. Hopefully now it's being rebranded this update will continue throughout the interior. The rooms are very dark and dated. There was a slight issue when we arrived as my message did not seem to have got through to say we needed a ground floor room due to mobility issues and by the time we arrived they had all been allocated and most of the lifts are currently being replaced, but the reception girls quickly got that sorted and gave us a family room with 2 double beds. The mattresses were in dire need of replacement - terribly saggy and one of them had a huge dip in the middle making them extremely uncomfortable. The duvets are horrendously heavy. There is no need to have something so heavy as you can get a good amount of heat from a much lighter weight duvet. I struggled to move under it as it weighed down so much and I have arthritis in my shoulder making it almost impossible to turn over. We did ask at reception for something lighter and were given sheets to use instead but the weather turned a bit cooler so the sheet was just too thin. I cannot imagine how the cleaning staff cope with changing the covers on these monstrosities daily when people check out. The cost of the 3 night stay for us was around £450 for room only. Extremely expensive. If we had booked B&B it would have been over £500. I do realise the spa/pool etc is probably covered in this price but perhaps a different price bracket to include or disclude the amenities might be a better idea as we were only basing ourselves there to sleep, and go out and about all day. The only other issue we had, which was of no fault of the hotel in any way, was the way some other guests had no concept of the amount of noise they make nor did they seem to care. We were wakened regularly to doors being let slam shut rather than gently closed at very early hours (there were a lot of workmen/businessmen staying) and in the room directly above us there was at least one child who sounded as if they were using the bed as a trampoline to bounce off of, onto the floor with a massive thud then run up and down the floor constantly from 6am each of the mornings.

We stayed in the Goldfinger room which was beautifully decorated. Bed was comfortable and the high quality toiletries and underfloor heating were a welcome addition. Central location with nearby parking and self-service access worked well. Just a couple of negatives 1) the room wasn't ready on our arrival at 3pm and we had to.meander round town while the cleaning was completed and 2) -possibly related - the milk although unopened was already curdled and one of the bottled waters was already half drunk! And the bath hadn't been properly cleaned. Shame.

When we arrived the barrier was down. We had to do that awkward thing of move the car over as far as you can and then stretch to reach the button to contact staff. Unfortunately the staff member who answered the gate intercom was a little hard to understand and she cut us off rather abruptly with the gate still remaining down. We pressed again and the gate allowed access. We checked in and I advised that I had already paid online via paypal. The staff advised that any payment was not an actual payment rather a hold - I would still need to pay again. If you use paypal you will know it takes several days to show on your account so I could neither prove nor disprove their claims. We got to our room and were pleased to be in an annexe as there was a wedding going on. Nice room size etc kettle, coffee machine, mugs, tea and biscuits. I checked in the bathroom for glasses and there were none available - I would assume that a hotel charging over £100 per night would at least supply plastic cups or proper glasses to drink water from. There was plenty of storage available and a decent hairdryer. The shower was nice - however the glass door was not long enough to prevent significant amounts of water hitting the floor - the bath mat was sodden. The shower tray and grout work as well as an area near the radiator had mould/blackening to it. There was also a random hole in the ceiling - possibly an old leak? The food was great although it took a while to arrive. I did ask for mild peppercorn sauce and no mushrooms - my food arrived with mushrooms and no peppercorn sauce. We left the restaurant believing that the meal would be added to the room - a member of staff followed us out advised that many people may have sat at the table and they needed a room number (this was given when we arrived at the restaurant) and could we pay now?!; perhaps they need a better booking/checking system in place? We then went through to the bar there were several tables which had been left with glasses on them. They were only removed when we sat at one of these tables, the table remained unwiped. The two staff on didn't come over to see if we wanted more drinks and didn't interact with other people who were hovering also intending to purchase drinks. I eventually took my chair and sat in front of the bar waiting for the staff to return from a patrol; neither asked if they could help so I shouted over. I believe this is indicative more of a lack of training in customer service than rudeness. Children from the wedding were becoming a nuisance by this point and were pretty much unchallenged by staff. They were running in and out, up and down stairs taking milk from the fridges and leaving plastic rings on the floor. They made enough noise to be heard on at least the first floor as the fire doors were help open by magnets. In our room we hoped for peace and quiet only to be left disappointed by music echoing over from the wedding - this finished just before midnight. The bed was comfortable and we slept well. The gym was lovely and quiet at 8am although the sauna hadn't quite heated up when we headed in there around 8.40ish. Breakfast was mostly tasty - the black pudding lacked any flavour - the scrambled eggs and hash browns were great. The tea was the wrong colour and tasted like very cheap teabags. There were bits of chips on the floor from the food service the night before.

The decor itself was a little run down and the wallpaper was torn in some places, but other than that the hotel itself was lovely. I stayed in a single room and the bed was very comfortable. I could hear people in other rooms as the walls were a bit too thin, but still slept well thanks to the decent quality mattress and bedding. There was a towel in the room as well as good quality soap and shower gel. The water pressure in the shower wasn't great but otherwise it worked well. The young man that welcomed me in very kindly showed me how to use the shower and customer service was excellent throughout. The free cold breakfast included a range of cereals, orange juice, toast, butter, and jams which was a good selection. Would definitely stay here again.

The stay was great. Trudell at the front desk was awesome. Friendly and efficient is exactly what I needed after a long drive. The room was fine and the conference space worked well for my needs. The exhibit room was a bit chilly and the fans were really high. Overall great stay.

We are members and have stayed at this resort several times over the last few years and have always had 1 or 2 bed apartments to accommodate family members. This was only for a 2 night stop over after visiting friends but we could have stayed longer as we were in a very spacious studio apartment with a complete kitchen that included a full size oven and hob, microwave, fridge freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. It was a very hot weekend and there is no air con but our apartment was shaded by surrounding trees which helped reduce the heat. We were advised on check in that we could have a fan if requested but we had bought one with us so didn't bother. The restaurant and bar had just opened the night before we arrived but we didn't visit as we'd come prepared to self cater after 2 previous visits when it was closed.

We had a lovely evening away at the Mill, bed was really comfy. Our evening meal & breakfast were both lovely. We would recommend this hotel

Amazing meal……delicious …..nothing to complain about …..excellent service with attentive caring staff…..Look forward to a return. A busy restaurant even though it was mid week …..obviously due to excellent food.Must remember to book early for Christmas.
