Romantic Hotels in Yunnan, China

It’s my first time in Yunnan and as a solo female traveller, this accommodation was perfect! Pick up was arranged for me from the station and there was perfect handover from the driver to Vino at the drop off where he assisted me by carrying my luggage and helping me to check in. My room was beautiful and the entrance of the accommodation allowed me to see the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain (which was great because I didn’t go hehe but at least I’ve seen it!) and an overview of the Ancient City. The location also makes it so convenient to explore Lijiang Ancient City. At the end of my stay, there was a sweet 小姐姐 who also assisted me with my luggage and sent me off warmly. It was such a pleasant stay :-)

Everything about the hotel was great. There was a power outage on the day I checked in, but my luggage was brought to my room, and I even got an upgrade! The river view was fantastic 👍. Every afternoon, they offered white fungus soup and mung bean soup, both of which were delicious. The only downside was the airport transfer driver they partnered with. He called to ask me to add him on WeChat, and there was a woman next to him who not only had a bad attitude but also said a lot of unpleasant things about my WeChat name. As someone from Northeast China myself, I was truly speechless by such low-class behavior. It really brings shame to Northeast people. After picking everyone up, the driver kept trying to persuade everyone to book his car, and he was so busy talking that we almost got into a traffic accident. He just seemed very unreliable.

Our family of 2 adults and 2 children stayed at Jiangye for 3 nights and we concluded that it was the best accommodation amongst all that we stayed throughout our 2-week Yunnan vacation. We stayed at the loft room - room was spacious and very comfortable to stay in. Staff was very kind to let us stay in their biggest loft room with king beds. Laundry room (equipped with 4 clean washing machines and a drying room) was right opposite our room, making it very convenient for us to do our daily laundry. Breakfast was buffet style, with sufficient variety. On top of the breakfast that was already part of the room rates, we were very pleasantly surprised to be offered a daily homecooked meal, consisting of 2 mains, 2 veg and 1 soup, with dishes for us to choose from. Location was excellent, right opposite 大观景公园，staff even gave us bread to feed the seagulls. Staff were polite and prompt to requests. All in all an excellent stay and we will definitely be back again.

A hidden gem of a hotel by Dianchi Lake! The rooms are spacious and spotless, the bedding is comfortable, and the breakfast is astonishingly rich – the cured ham pastries are a must-try. The service is attentive and thoughtful, with efficient concierge and warm housekeeping. It's within walking distance to Dianchi Lake, and the garden-style setting is tranquil and delightful. A five-star experience, truly living up to its reputation! A heavenly hotel by Dianchi Lake! The location is absolutely perfect, with stunning lake views right outside the window, and lush garden greenery. The room facilities are complete, clean, and odor-free, and the service is warm and professional. The dining experience is fantastic, making it ideal for both leisure and business travel. My top choice for a stay in Kunming!

This is a very nice hotel, great location, good rooms and excellent, helpful staff. But the hotel gets bad marks in two areas. First, the food was generally very good but the Western breakfast buffet choices were nearly always cold. I tried three days in a row to get poached eggs that were not hard boiled. On the third day I got what I wanted but even then the eggs were stone cold. The second issue was the the lack of necessary security staff. The lobby bar was nice and had a young woman playing guitar in the evenings but on our second evening 4 drunks were drinking, shouting and smoking and refused to stop when the hotel staff intervened. After this things escalated and instead of having hotel security throw them out the drunks started harassing us and it got ugly so we left for our room. The hotel called our room to apologize but it was not equipped to deal with this situation and needs to have better control over their public areas. A lesson to be learned. I will be sending a separate letter to Accor management giving full details of this unfortunate event.

I deliberated for a long time between the Banyan Tree, InterContinental, and The Unbound Collection by Hyatt, and ultimately chose the latter – and it certainly didn't disappoint. The hotel itself is quite large with a strong capacity for guests. Throughout my stay, I never once felt neglected; the service was absolutely on point. The hotel boasts excellent views, with beautiful architectural design and landscape gardening. My Deluxe King Room with Snow Mountain View offered a direct view of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, and the hotel also has many other fantastic viewing spots. The hotel's amenities are top-notch. The Harman Kardon speakers and Karl Lagerfeld toiletries in the room are highly competitive for a hotel in this price range. A 78-square-meter Deluxe King Room with Snow Mountain View at this price point is truly exceptional. The hotel also offers many activities. During my stay, I participated in a tie-dye experience and a tea tasting, which showed how much effort they put into designing these culturally authentic activities. What truly deserves special praise is the hotel's mini-zoo. It houses Border Collies, alpacas, goats, marmots, donkeys, and horses. It's clear that the animals are well cared for, and the staff are genuinely loving. Overall, The Unbound Collection by Hyatt is a highly recommended hotel. I strongly suggest staying here.

The staff here were quite enthusiastic. They proactively helped clean the pool and manage the water, and the water temperature was adjustable. They were also very quick to respond on WeChat and even offered to bring takeout from the front desk to my room. However, there are a few areas that need improvement. First, due to the environment, there were a lot of mosquitoes. The mosquito coils weren't very effective, and I ended up with over ten bites after just two nights. Second, there might be some issues with the facilities. On my first night, the power went out in the middle of the night. This area is quite remote and there are no lights, which was really scary. Also, the smart toilet kept leaking without power, so I had to turn off the water valve. The door hinges made a lot of noise. The automatic night light was too sensitive and would turn on instantly with the slightest movement. Third, the staff might not have been very attentive; they misidentified me three times in a row (gender and last name). Despite these issues, it is indeed a natural sulfur hot spring, and I felt very relaxed after soaking. For that reason, I would still recommend it, but next time I'll choose a season with fewer mosquitoes.

If a business wants customers to give them an exceptional review, they need to provide exceptional service! You get what you give. How can you even ask for a five-star review when you can't even manage a simple upgrade? Is it because all your hotel facilities are outdated? Is it because the floor heating in the bathroom doesn't work and the drain doesn't drain properly? Is it because there are cobwebs in your room? Is it because all the lounge chairs in your courtyard are broken? Think hard about why your hotel, despite having a good location and large rooms, can't command a higher price. It's not about just doing what you're supposed to do to earn a good review; you need to provide service that exceeds customer expectations to get one! Proactive service isn't just talk, it requires action.

The room was quiet, clean, and tidy. Cars can't enter Lijiang Ancient Town, but the hotel's location is super convenient for getting around. Taxis can drop you off right near the entrance. You can even get a panoramic view of the entire Lijiang Ancient Town from the second floor! The owner was really nice and welcoming, sharing lots of tips to avoid tourist traps and even helping us plan our itinerary. It was great!

I had a very good time here! The accommodation was warm and comfortable, clean and well maintained, but what really made the experience special was the surrounding animals. Waking in the early morning by the soft sounds of nature and watching the animals stroll freely adds a serene and peaceful charm to the entire stay. It is like a paradise where people can really relax their mind and body and enjoy their surroundings. Special thanks would also be extended to the staff for their excellent service. Very attentive, friendly, and always helpful. The warm hospitality makes the whole experience even more perfect. If you enjoy a quiet holiday surrounded by nature, close contact with docile animals and excellent service, then this is an absolute value!
