Lake Brienz

Lake Brienz is located at the northern foot of the Alps, named after the village of Brienz on the northeast side of the lake, while Interlaken lies on its southwest side. Surrounded by steep peaks, a boat tour on Lake Brienz offers breathtaking views of the Alpine scenery. The glacial meltwater carries fine rock flour, giving the entire lake a rare turquoise hue that becomes especially vivid on sunny days. Paired with the steep cliffs and dense forests on both shores, every snapshot looks like a postcard—a highly distinctive hallmark of this lake. Themed cruise with rich experiences Lake Brienz cruise offers various types of experiences. In addition to regular sightseeing cruises, it also provides special themed cruise activities, such as "breakfast cruise", "Indian dinner cruise tour", or "fish and jazz tour" on the cruise ship deck, etc. These are worth experiencing for travelers who love Swiss cuisine. Visit the village of Brienz The village of Brienz on the east shore of the lake is a particularly quiet small town, with fewer visitors during the off-peak season, making it perfect for strolling. You can also take the historic steam train—the Brienz-Rothorn Railway—to reach Rothorn. Giessbach Falls Another destination of the Lake Brienz cruise is the Giessbach Falls, where white waterfalls cascade down from 500 m high into the lake, crashing against rocks with a deafening roar, creating a spectacular sight. Beside the falls stands the Giessbach Hotel, resembling a fairytale castle full of dreamy charm. Cycling and hikes around the lake Lake Brienz is also ideal for cycling around the lake, with well-planned bike routes that allow you to experience the beauty of the lake up close. There are significant elevation changes during the ride, and fog may occur in rainy weather, so it is recommended to choose a suitable route based on your fitness level. Of course, there are also popular hiking trails here, such as walking along the southern shore of Lake Brienz, starting from Bönigen and passing through Iseltwald to reach Giessbach.Iseltwald · 25.8 km from Guttannen

Hoheweg is the main street of Interlaken and a tree-lined thoroughfare connecting Interlaken Ost and West stations. Interlaken serves as the gateway for sightseeing in the Jungfrau region, where travelers from around the world often stop for a transfer, making it the town's most popular spot, bustling with visitors year-round. Shops, hotels, and restaurants are densely packed along the street, with watch shops and souvenir stores side by side, selling Swiss watches, handmade ceramics, and textiles, featuring patterns that incorporate both rustic elements of the Bernese Highlands and modern design. On one side lies the open lawn known as the Hohematte, originally a monastery garden and now preserved as a public green space; on clear days, you can see the snow-capped peak of the Jungfraujoch - Top of Europe from the street at the end of the lawn, and paragliders frequently drift down from the mountains, landing slowly on the grass, often causing passersby to stop and look up. There are plenty of benches and outdoor seating; sitting down to rest when tired and watching the flow of people against the backdrop of the distant snow-capped mountains is a typical scene for visitors here.Interlaken · 32.8 km from Guttannen

Ice Palace - Jungfraujoch is hidden in the glacial depths of the Jungfraujoch - Top of Europe in Switzerland, located approx. 20m below the observation deck. In the 1930s, two mountain guides used ice axes and ice saws to hand-carve halls and passageways into the ice of the Jungfrau Glacier. Since then, artists have continued to create within the ice, making it an ever-evolving ice sculpture. Push open the revolving door and follow the stairs bathed in blue light. The rock walls overhead gradually give way to the glacier, and the passageway becomes increasingly crystalline. Ice sculptures appear faintly in the dim, ambient light, and you can also see works themed around the three famous peaks: Jungfrau, Mönch, and Eiger, as well as cute little squirrels hidden within the ice.Fieschertal · 26.3 km from Guttannen

Aletsch Glacier is located in the high mountain region of the Canton of Valais in the eastern part of the Bernese Alps in south-central Switzerland and is one of the few massive glaciers in the Alps. It is formed by the confluence of several tributary glaciers at Konkordiaplatz, and the meltwater from the end of the glacier tongue flows into the Rhône River. Take a cable car from Fiesch in the Goms Valley via Fiescheralp up the mountain to the Eggishorn viewpoint, which offers a panoramic view of the entire glacier, where the textures of the converging tributary glaciers are clearly visible. Viewed from Bettmerhorn, you are directly facing the middle and lower sections. On the eastern edge lies the milky-blue Märjelensee lake, which is particularly photogenic in summer when filled with meltwater. The slopes beside the glacier tongue are covered with forests of Swiss stone pine. High-altitude panoramic trails connect mountain villages such as Riederalp and Bettmeralp. Among them, Villa Cassel, a century-old house above Riederalp, introduces the glacier and alpine ecology.Fieschertal · 25.8 km from Guttannen

Jungfraujoch – Top of Europe is one of Switzerland’s most spectacular mountain destinations, offering an unforgettable experience high in the Swiss Alps. Surrounded by magnificent snow-covered peaks, vast glaciers, and breathtaking alpine scenery, the journey to the summit is an adventure itself. The panoramic views from the top are truly mesmerizing, especially on a clear day when the mountains seem to stretch endlessly into the horizon. Walking through the snowy landscape feels like entering a winter wonderland. The impressive Aletsch Glacier adds even more beauty to the experience. Jungfraujoch is a must-visit destination for travelers who love mountains, snow, photography, and extraordinary natural landscapes.

The last boat from Interlaken East Station to Lake Brienz was at 15:07, and when we went there, the boat had just left. The staff taught us to take the bus to Brienz, and then catch the boat at 16:40, and take the boat from Brienz back to Interlaken. We bought a second-class Swiss pass, which allows free boat rides. There are not many seats in the second-class cabin, but there are more open-air seats. If you are afraid of the cold, you can get on the boat earlier. I sat in the restaurant at first and thought I had to consume, but after sitting for a while, I realized that there was no mandatory requirement.

On the fourth day of the Swiss trip, we stayed at the Belvedere Swiss Quality Hotel in Grindelwald. The balcony of the view room faced the Eiger Peak and the Dream Hill. The Eiger Peak felt very ordinary and the Dream Hill was very beautiful, but the room was on a too low floor and the photos we took could not show the perfect view.

Herweg Street is to Interlaken what Chang'an Avenue is to Beijing and Nanjing Road is to Shanghai. Herweg Street is 1,400 meters long. The east end is the East Railway Station and the west end is the West Railway Station. Both sides are full of luxurious hotels, elegant restaurants and various shops. The south side of the middle section of the street is the green Holhemat Green. Visiting Herweg is a must for Interlaken. The happiest thing is to look south on the street. Under the blue sky and white clouds, the Jungfrau often shows its heroic appearance in the mist, inviting people who love it to take a photo together. The most worry-free thing is that there are always tourists speaking Chinese dialects from all over the world on the street, and there are always shop assistants speaking standard Mandarin in shops, especially watch shops. Asking for directions and buying a watch, language communication is not a problem. The most annoying thing is that there are many public toilets on the street, all of which are advanced coin-operated access control, 1~2 Swiss francs per time. If you want to find free ones, it’s impossible in shops and too difficult in restaurants. Don’t forget to bring a few Swiss francs with you when you go shopping.

The Alaich Glacier is actually a landscape that looks like a snowy road. It is not cold on a sunny summer day. The wide-angle lens will be very good when you look at the glacier from the viewing platform. There are many piles of stones for making wishes on the mountain. There are also restaurants, and even in summer, they prepare woolen shawls for customers to keep warm.
