Grass Skyline

Grass Skyline

The Grass Skyline, nicknamed “China's Route 66,” passes many beautiful sights like grassland, windmills, terraced farm fields, and rock cliffs. Driving along the road is a good choice for a weekend sightseeing trip in the vicinity of Beijing. The Grass Skyline's west end begins at Yehu (“Wild Fox”) Ridge on the south side of the Zhangbei County seat and continues east to Huapi Ridge in Chongli County. The land around the Skyline is covered in wildflowers in the summertime and becomes a sea of gold in the autumn. You can enter from either the Yehu Ridge or Huapi Ridge side, and the entire stretch of road is a beautiful drive. Since it climbs a lot, you'll often see the road appear to end at the horizon, which is how it got the name “skyline.” You can pull over anywhere to get out of the car and take beautiful photographs.Zhangbei · 18.3 km from downtown

Huapiling, named for the many birch trees growing on the mountain, has a main peak at an altitude of 2,128m and is the highest peak in Zhangbei. Standing on Huapiling and looking into the distance, you will see vast, emerald forests stretching to the horizon and vibrant grasses and fragrant flowers carpeting the fields, truly feeling the wonder and charm of nature. Summer and fall are the most beautiful seasons at Huapiling, featuring blooming mountain flowers and lush, layered forests. Every two weeks, the mountain's dominant hue changes. Red, white, yellow, blue, and purple—hundreds of wild flowers bloom across the mountains, swaying gracefully in an endless display of beauty. The vast expanse of green grass resembles an endless carpet, deep and vivid, dotted with colorful flowers like twinkling stars. Accompanying the grasslands are dense forests, primarily birch and larch. Entering the forest, you are greeted by the faint scent of grass, with trees so dense they seem to block out the sky. Sunlight filters through the lush branches, and the occasional chirping of birds highlights the tranquility of the woods. In the valleys, clear springs gurgle from between the rocks, revealing water so clear you can see the bottom. Huapiling is a boundary for geography, scenery, and climate. The sunny side features carpet-like meadows, while the shady side is covered in dense forests; the south side of the ridge is milder in summer, while the north side is much colder in winter. This creates a unique environment where grasslands and forests coexist, and both cool and warm climates share the same mountain.Zhangbei · 60 km from downtown

At the end of the Yuan Dynasty and the beginning of the Ming Dynasty, the Ming army set up Xinghe Station in Yuan Zhongdu.Zhangbei · 16.9 km from downtown

The Badaling Great Wall is renowned as one of the Nine Strategic Passes under heaven, combining majestic cliffs with picturesque greenery to form the most spectacular section of the Ming Dynasty fortifications. Living up to the Chinese saying "He who has never been to the Great Wall is not a true hero," this remains the premier choice for most Chinese visitors to experience the Wall. The fortress gate exhibits a trapezoidal shape, narrower on the east and wider on the west, featuring two gate towers. The eastern arch bears the inscription "Juyong Waizhen" (Frontier Town of Juyong), while the western gate displays "Beimen Suoyue" (Key to the Northern Gate). North of the fortress stretches the 12-tower Northern Wall section, while to the south lies the less crowded Southern Wall with 7 watchtowers. If time permits, we recommend exploring the Southern Wall first before tackling the more popular Northern section. ▲Walk Through Six Centuries of Golden History: A Visual Feast of Vermilion Foliage Blanketing the Great Wall ▲ As night descends, the Badaling Great Wall transforms into a gilded dragon winding through shadowed peaks, its illuminated battlements whispering tales of millennia - where imperial splendor meets enduring mystery beneath constellations of golden light. ▲Cloaked in winter's crystalline mantle, the Badaling Great Wall becomes a silver serpent coiled between snow-draped peaks, its ancient stones gilded by dawn's golden raysChina · Beijing

The Forbidden City, also known as the Imperial Palace, was the imperial palace of the Ming and Qing dynasties, and is also the symbol of ancient China. When you are in the majestic and orderly high walls and deep courtyards, you can truly feel its former glory. ▲The long history has left behind large-scale precious buildings and countless cultural relics, which have also become the main attraction of visiting the Forbidden City today. ▲Classic attractions: The Forbidden City Corner Tower is a polygonal building with a convex plane on all four sides. It is located in Dongcheng District, Beijing. The roof has three layers. The upper layer is a hip roof with vertical and horizontal intersections. It is composed of a gable roof with flowing water on two slopes and a hip roof with four slopes. Because there are nine main ridges on this roof, it is called the Nine-ridge Hall. ▲Sundials are divided into two types according to their installation principle: equatorial and horizontal. The sundial installed using the equatorial principle is called an equatorial sundial. The key points of its production are that it must have a time plate, a latitude arc and a gnomon. When operating, the time plate must be parallel to the equatorial plane of the earth, the gnomon must be in the same direction as the earth's axis, and the shadow cast by the gnomon on the gnomon is the desired time. ▲The Treasure House is located in the Ningshou Palace area. It has a rich collection of treasures, including Buddhist supplies, ornaments, daily utensils, and treasures for appreciation. Among them, the red coral lion about 14 cm high, the Dongzhu court beads about 130 cm long, and the gold "Fengtianzhibao" seal are all rare treasures. ▲The Clock and Watch Museum is located in the Fengxian Hall in the palace. Most of the clocks on display are British products, but there are also clocks from other countries such as France and Switzerland. In addition to the timing function, these clocks are decorated with figures, birds, beasts, flowers, etc., which can also make various different movements. They are very delicately made. Among them, the copper-plated gilded writing clock, the copper-plated gilded enamel gourd-top fishing and woodcutting farming clock, and the copper-plated gilded rotating flower running man rhinoceros carrying clock are very rare.China · Beijing

The Grassland Sky Road is a renowned summer resort in Zhangjiakou. With an average altitude of 1300 meters, it boasts alpine meadows and flower fields along the way. Although it has become quite commercialized, the free natural scenery makes the trip worthwhile.

Mei Jie's 71st day of traveling in China, Zhangjiakou Zhangbei Bashang Grassland Heavenly Road At the junction of Zhangbei County and Chongli District in Zhangjiakou, there is a winding asphalt road of more than 100 kilometers. It stretches across the mountains with the ups and downs of the mountains. The scenery on both sides of the road is beautiful, with rivers, mountains, meadows and terraces, like a hundred-mile painting! The blue sky connects with it, and the white clouds echo with it, just like walking on the road to heaven! The most suitable season for Bashang Grassland is from the end of June to the end of September. The air on the grassland is pure, there is little pollution, and it is also cool in summer. I was unlucky today. It was raining intermittently on Bashang. The sky was always overcast, and occasionally the sun poured down through the clouds, which was a different taste. I still felt cool wearing long sleeves, it is worthy of being a summer resort~

The grassland scenery is beautiful, not many people, the iron flower making at night is very exciting, basically come to see the performance, just looking at the grass is not interesting. There are villages around, it is convenient to live, you don't have to live in the scenic area, it is also close to the Tianlu.

Huapiling is the western entrance of Zhangbei Grassland Tianlu. It is about two hours' drive from downtown Beijing. The area is not large. It takes about 20 minutes to drive to the entrance of Tianlu after getting off the highway. There are many unique farmhouses with restaurants and accommodation along the way.

冬天的时候千万不要来到元中都遗址,一是因为这边非常荒凉,而是因为这个景点却不开门,不过我们围着外面的围栏转了一圈,拍了一些照片,感觉还是挺震撼的,毕竟是大元时候的中都

Very beautiful, but too crowded in my personal taste. We chose this part of the wall bcz we had limited time. Overall it was amazing to see, if I'll have opportunity to come back to China I'll choose other less crowded parts of the wall.

[Highly Recommended] My 9-Year-Old Daughter's First Experience at Universal Studios Beijing! Harry Potter Fans Will Go Crazy! ✨ This was my daughter's (third grade) first trip to Universal Studios Beijing, and she was beaming with joy all day long! As a die-hard Harry Potter fan, the moment she stepped into "The Wizarding World of Harry Potter" and saw the snow-covered Hogwarts Castle, she screamed with excitement! We rushed to queue for "Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey," and the naked-eye 3D effects were absolutely stunning. My daughter held my hand the whole time, shouting, "Mommy, I'm really flying!" Afterwards, we bought an interactive wand and waved it around the park, lighting up the display cases. She said she finally became a real wizard! Besides the Wizarding World, there were many other fun experiences for a 9-year-old in the park. "Transformers: Battle for the AllSpark" had just the right amount of thrill with its high-altitude descent, which my daughter exclaimed was so cool; the indoor area of "Kung Fu Panda" was cool and photogenic, and the water ride was also super fun with lots of splashing water. We spent the whole day doing several experiences, culminating in a perfect ending with a dazzling castle light show. Back at the hotel, my daughter was still clutching her magic wand, saying it was her best travel memory ever. I highly recommend it to parents traveling with elementary school children!

Highly recommended, it's worth a visit. I thought it would just be a simple visit to the grottoes, but from the moment I entered, it was a completely different world. I also had a very good guide who told us many Buddhist stories and the reasons why they were preserved. The characteristics of each building were very vivid. In my opinion, it is comparable to the Dunhuang Grottoes and is very beautiful.
