💜🇯🇵 HASEDERA — The Hydrangea Garden by the Sea Fall in love with a purple summer where blooming flowers meet the ocean. 🌸🌊 Who says summer in Japan is only about the heat and rain? In June, delicate blossoms in shades of purple, blue, and pink transform the scenery into a romantic wonderland. 💐 Today, let’s explore Hasedera Temple (長谷寺), a historic site in Kamakura, Kanagawa Prefecture, that makes for a perfect day trip from Tokyo! This destination offers a beautiful Japanese temple nestled in nature, hydrangea-lined hillside paths, and stunning blue ocean views from its observation points. It’s a must-visit spot to experience the charm of early summer in Japan. 💜 🌸 HYDRANGEA HEAVEN — A Dreamy Floral Trail One of Hasedera’s biggest highlights is the Hydrangea Path, featuring over 40 different varieties. During peak season, the hillside is painted in vibrant shades of purple, blue, pink, and white. From certain spots, you can look through the blossoms to see Kamakura city and the sea stretching out into the distance. 🌊 ⛩️ MORE THAN FLOWERS — A Temple Rich in History Hasedera has a long history and is home to the eleven-headed Kannon Bodhisattva, a magnificent wooden statue standing 9.18 meters tall. The grounds also feature traditional Japanese gardens, pavilions, and peaceful areas for a quiet nature walk. 🌊 WHERE FLOWERS MEET THE SEA — Scenic Views Don’t miss the hillside observation deck. On a clear day, you get a breathtaking view of Kamakura's houses and the beautiful coastline. 🚃 A LITTLE TRAIN TO KAMAKURA — Getting there from Tokyo 🚉 Start at Tokyo Station or Shinjuku Station and take the JR line to Kamakura Station. 🚃 At Kamakura, transfer to the Enoden Line and get off at Hase Station. 🚶 It’s about a 5-minute walk to Hasedera Temple. You’ll also get to experience the charm of the Enoden train, one of Kamakura’s most iconic symbols! 🗓️ BEST TIME TO VISIT — When to go? 💜 June is the peak season for hydrangeas, typically from early to mid-month, depending on the weather each year. 🌦️ While it’s Japan’s rainy season, the hydrangeas look particularly enchanting when glistening in the damp air. 🎟️ BEFORE YOU VISIT — Essential Info General Admission: · Adults: 400 yen · Children (ages 6–11): 200 yen Opening Hours (April–June): · 8:00 AM – 5:30 PM · Last entry at 5:00 PM 📌 During peak hydrangea season, the floral path may require an additional ticket and timed entry. Beyond Tokyo's hustle and bustle, visiting Kamakura turned out to be one of my all-time favorite decisions. With its stunning sea views and a breathtaking overlook of Mount Fuji, this city offers a completely different and refreshing vibe. Don't miss the famous Slam Dunk train station or the charming Enoden train. During my trip, I discovered a real gem—a beautiful temple highly recommended by many travelers. Hokokuji Temple, famous for its lush bamboo groves, delicious matcha, and tranquil moments, is a peaceful retreat tucked away in Kamakura. Strolling along the garden paths beneath the vibrant green canopy, you can listen to the soothing sounds of water and birds, creating a perfect escape from busy life. My absolute favorite experience was relaxing at Kyukoan teahouse, sipping warm matcha and enjoying traditional sweets while gazing out over the bamboo garden. ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️ Sometimes, the most memorable travel moments are simply about sitting back and soaking it all in. 🍵 Opening hours: 9am–4pm. Matcha ticket sales end at 3.30pm and may pause when busy. 💡 Travel tips · Aim for opening time on a weekday for a quieter visit. · Allow around 45–60 minutes, longer if you want to linger over tea. · Buy your matcha ticket together with admission at the entrance. · Wear shoes with good grip, especially after rain, and keep your voice low to preserve the peaceful atmosphere. Less rushing. More matcha. A little pocket of calm in Kamakura.

Locals also love to call it the Land of Cherry Blossoms. · ------------------- 🗻 Recommended route: Day 1-2: Mt. Fuji 5th Station > Lake Kawaguchiko Lawson photo spot > Mt. Fuji Panoramic Ropeway > Owakudani > Hakone Shrine floating torii gate > Mt. Omuro > Enoshima > Enoden > Kamakura-koko-mae Station > Shonan Coast These two days cover viral Mt. Fuji & Lake Kawaguchiko photo spots, classic Kamakura coastal scenes, and the scenic Hakone hot spring town. · ------------------- Recommended attractions: 🗻 Lake Kawaguchiko: The emerald lake water and the reflection of Mt. Fuji are a perfect match! There's a Lawson with a blue sign by the lake, and the shot with Mt. Fuji is a social media sensation 📸. The best spot is on the sidewalk across the street; use a telephoto lens to compress the frame for that cinematic Japanese movie look. It looks best in the soft evening light, and wearing light-colored clothing makes your photos pop even more. It's a 15-minute walk from Kawaguchiko Station, which you can reach by bus or train from Tokyo. Along the way, you can also check out the "Upside-down Fuji," the Mt. Fuji Panoramic Ropeway, and the lakeside foot bath! 🏮 Lake Ashi: The volcanic lake scenery is incredibly healing! The 2026 Summer Festival Week runs from July 31 to August 5, featuring 5 consecutive days of spectacular fireworks ✨. The opening day's Lake Festival fireworks feature both aerial and water displays, and the final day includes the traditional ritual of burning the large torii gate. It's so romantic to watch fireworks here with friends on a summer night! 🌿 Mt. Omuro: A cone-shaped green mountain formed by a volcanic eruption, it's as healing as a scene from an anime 🎬. Take the ropeway slowly up the mountain; the lush greenery contrasts with the distant blue ocean. There's even a torii gate at the summit that's perfect for photos—it feels like stepping into a summer scene from "Your Name"! 🌸 Enoshima: A treasure trove for couples and friends! It's stunning during the hydrangea season in June. The hydrangea tunnel to the right of Okutsumiya Shrine is incredibly photogenic. The contrast between the vermilion shrine at Nakatsumiya and the blue-purple hydrangeas is breathtaking. It's a great place to visit whether it's rainy or sunny, allowing you to soak in the romantic atmosphere where nature meets traditional shrines~ · ------------------- Tips: 1. 🚃 The Kawaguchiko Lawson convenience store is a super popular photo spot. I keep coming back to this seaside park and I still love it 💙 The two areas connect to form a long coastline with an expansive view. On sunny days, the cartoon-like clouds and the Fuji-blue sea complement each other perfectly 🌤️ Seaside lawns, swings, art sculptures, trendy installations... It's a quiet, hidden gem. The long seaside boardwalk is the ultimate spot for ocean views!! [Dalian "Little Kamakura" Seaside Park Guide] 📍Hainabaichuan Sculpture Park or Yunjing International Community Park The coastlines of the two parks are connected, just a 10 mins walk apart, so you can visit both together. 🚇Subway Line 1 doesn't go directly there; you'll need to transfer to a bus. 🚙Driving is recommended, and parking is available 🅿️. 🎫Free admission, enjoy at your leisure. One spare day in Tokyo does not automatically mean you should leave the city. For a broad first trip, protect your Tokyo time first: · 1–4 full usable days → usually stay in Tokyo · 5 days → day trip only if it is a real priority · 6+ days → one excursion becomes much easier to justify Then choose by the kind of day you actually want: ⛩️ KAMAKURA Best for temples, traditional atmosphere and the easiest day to shorten if energy drops. 🏔️ HAKONE Best for mountain scenery, onsen atmosphere and Fuji-view potential — but it has the most transport dependencies and weather sensitivity. 🌲 NIKKO Best for major shrine and temple heritage, but expect the biggest time commitment. Keep a first day trip focused on the World Heritage area rather than automatically adding Lake Chuzenji. If all three appeal equally, Kamakura is the simplest starting point for lower execution friction. But if Tokyo still feels unfinished? Keep the day in Tokyo. Save this planner, then check live transport and weather the night before you go. #Tokyo #TokyoDayTrip #Kamakura #Hakone #Nikko #JapanTravel #TokyoTravel #JapanTrip

Everyone says the seaside atmosphere in Kamakura is incredible, but the wind by the sea can be unpredictable, and sudden afternoon showers are common. Since you'll be relying on the train to get between spots, traveling back and forth takes time, so don't pack your itinerary too full ✌️ 🌤️ Recent weather guide Coastal cities are humid, with average daily temperatures of 20–27°C. It's sunny during the day, but the sea breeze can make it feel a bit cooler 🌞. Afternoon showers are common, and the UV rays by the sea are very strong. 👔 Outfit guide ❌ Avoid wearing only spaghetti-strap dresses or short skirts; they can be inconvenient when it's windy by the sea or when visiting temples. ✅ Layering formula: Short-sleeved top + thin sun-protective jacket. Bottoms: Long skirts or thin long pants. There are many mosquitoes in the grass, so long pants are a safer bet. Shoes: Be sure to wear non-slip, soft-soled shoes! There are many stone paths along the Enoden line and seaside walkways, which can get slippery when it rains. Accessories: Wide-brimmed sun hat, sunglasses, mosquito repellent, and a folding umbrella. ✅ Must-visit spots in Kamakura 🌟 Kamakura-kōkō-mae Station | Take a photo at the railway crossing, just like in the anime. 🌟 Shichirigahama | Stroll along the beach, enjoy seaside desserts, and take in the ocean views. 🌟 Enoshima | Explore the island, visit the shrines, and climb up for a panoramic view of the sea. 🌟 Tsurugaoka Hachimangu | A long approach leading to a quiet, beautiful ancient shrine. 🌟 Great Buddha of Kamakura | See the giant bronze statue and soak in the atmosphere of the ancient temple. 🌟 Hokokuji Temple | A bamboo forest garden, perfect for quiet tea and a rest. ⚠️ Kamakura travel tips 🚫 Tip 1: Seats on the Enoden line are highly sought after. Choose the right direction to sit on the seaside for the best ocean views. 🚫 Tip 2: The sun is strong by the sea, so don't skip sunscreen, even on cloudy days. 🚫 Tip 3: Be mindful of your attire when visiting temples; avoid overly revealing clothing and follow venue guidelines. 🚫 Tip 4: The wind picks up by the sea in the evening. Remember to put on a jacket when watching the sunset, and don't stay out too long to avoid catching a chill. 🚫 Tip 5: There are many tourists at the Kamakura-kōkō-mae crossing. Watch out for passing trains when taking photos and stay safe. 🚫 Tip 6: There are many steps on the island and up the mountain. If you aren't feeling up to it, don't try to do it all at once. 🚫 Tip 7: There are many mosquitoes in the woods, so apply mosquito repellent to exposed skin beforehand. 🚫 Tip 8: Do not litter on the beach; this coastline needs to be protected.

If you're looking to escape Tokyo for a day of ocean breezes, cozy cafes, historic temples, and charming Japanese trains, Kamakura + Enoshima is highly recommended! 🚃🌊 This trip is perfect for those seeking a relaxed getaway that covers multiple vibes in a single day. Enjoy a scenic ride on the Enoden train along the coast, visit the Great Buddha, stroll through the Komachi-dori area, and head over to Enoshima for stunning views, delicious local eats, and a sunset with an incredible vibe. This post has everything you need: How to get there / 1-Day Itinerary / Best Photo Spots / Food / Must-visit spots Save this to plan your trip! ✨

For this trip, we departed from our accommodation in the Ueno area early in the morning. We booked one-day passes online, which allow us to enter from Odakyu Station (located in Shinjuku Station). 🚄 We arrived around 7 am. We scanned our tickets to enter the station and checked the train schedules on the screen. Any train to Fujisawa will do; there are both regular and express trains. The train will arrive at Fujisawa Station first (the final station, everyone must get off). If you want to go to Kamakura right away, you should switch to the Enoden train. But we changed our minds at the last minute and randomly walked along the path because we saw arrows pointing to Enoshima (a small island, mostly visited for sunset viewing, with a distant view of Mount Fuji). After wandering around for over an hour, we continued on the main route. We walked to Enoshima Station to take the Enoden train to the next stops. We could easily open our screens and scan the QR codes at the station entrance/exit gates. ⛹🏻 Station 8: Kamakura-Kōkōmae Following in the footsteps of the Slam Dunk manga: Popular photo spots 🚃 Station 10: Inamuragasaki We came to eat grilled fish bowl at Yoridokoro and then had coffee at The Sunrise Shack, a Hawaiian-style beachfront cafe with a stunning view. ⛩️ Station 12: Hase Kōtoku-in Temple (Great Buddha), about a 10-minute walk from the train station. The interior is very shady with many trees. Entrance fee is approximately ¥300 per person. The area around the Great Buddha is very crowded with worshippers. 🍦 Station 15: Kamakura The terminal station with Komachi Dori Street, a pedestrian street lined with souvenir shops. Walk to the end and you'll find Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Temple. The area seems to be divided into several sections, including gardens, private grounds, a shrine, a temple, and a small museum. If you have one day and don't want to spend all your time in Tokyo, you can visit this city. It has a seaside feel but still has everything you need. #BeautifulPhotoSpots #SelfGuidedTravel #JapanTravel #Japan #JapanAttractions #JapanReview #Japan2026

Johny lever76It is worth going with two kids, one five and one six years old. We bought amusement park passes and rode several projects twice. The kids played until dark before going home. Seeing the kids happy, mom and dad felt it was worth it.
M51***54Enoshima is accessible by train, and the tour is free. I don't think the elevator is necessary if you can climb something like Yuexiu Mountain, but if you have children, they seem to be free, so you might as well buy an adult elevator ticket. There are several shrines and an observation tower up there. There's a place selling local snacks like bread and octopus cakes (which are also sold down below). I think there are hot springs and hotels in the island area, as well as open-air bars and cafes, which seemed quite nice. I took a quick tour, which took about an hour, including crossing the bridge. I wouldn't recommend expecting to see Mount Fuji; it was hazy.
藤琦丝织The Enoden, a vintage tram from Kanagawa Prefecture, is a must-ride when visiting Kamakura. A one-day pass is available for 800 yen for adults and 400 yen for children; Suica cards are accepted. If you're not going to many places, a one-day pass isn't necessary. The line runs from Fujisawa Station to Kamakura Station. At several stations, there were no staff members present; it's all about honesty and trustworthiness.
sAviOr_07Buying the ticket via Trip is possible to be cheaper than buying from the ticket office there. Lately there is a newborn dolphin and it was so cuteeee. If anyone go there around this time, i really recommended to see the baby dolphin. Also, another popular thing from this aquarium is the Jellyfish zone. Don’t forget to see it!
Anonymous userIt was quite impressive to see The great Buddha of Kamakura at Kotoku-in Temple. There was a small fee for entrance, but it was worth it. It is the second tallest bronze Buddha in Japan.
_TI***dvWalking day trip at Kamakura , a very popular temple for a reason. There is a beautiful promenade between the station and shrine. It is easy to access and has good signs. There are nice toilets and a museum. The shrine itself can be busy, so if you want to go inside and do blessings, be prepared to wait a little. Overall very beautiful and worth seeing. It is a Shinto shrine established in 11th century, built in 1828 in the traditional Edo architectural style. Will visit again because here have a lot nearby temple we haven't finish for 1 days trip.
WLS008Restaurant: Sugi Bee Garden Address: 2-8-12 Komachi, Kamakura City Honey shop in shopping district Shops selling natural honey products, including honey drinks and ice cream with different flavors🍦, are very attractive. The store is bright and bright, making people feel comfortable. I ordered a cup of honey ice cream🍦 and it was only $350 yen, which was a great value. The ice cream was turned around four times, the portion was not small, the taste was slightly sweet, and the texture was cottony and smooth.
Joyful DiningShichirigahama, listed among Japan's 100 best coastlines. A must-visit when strolling around Kamakura. Blue skies and white clouds, eagles in flight, surfers, tourists, restaurants and cafes lining the streets, and shops selling small goods. I bought a coffee, sat down to enjoy the view, and sipped my coffee – quite pleasant. The weather wasn't great this time, so I didn't see Mount Fuji.
sAviOr_07Based on Trip.com user data, Recommended sightseeing time: 1–2 day(s), allowing you to cover the main attractions while enjoying shopping, dining, and other experiences.
The standard currency in Kamakura is JPY
Current exchange rate approx.: CAD ≈112.4JPY (actual exchange rates depend on the bank). Currency exchange tips:
1. Exchange currency at your local bank before departure, as rates are usually better than at the destination.
2. You can also withdraw cash from local ATMs.
3. Avoid exchanging currency at airports or hotels, as they offer the worst rates.
