Frozen Fun: The Ultimate 6-Day, 5-Night Guide to Harbin, Snow Town, Changbai Mountain, and Yanji — traveler post in Mudanjiang

Frozen Fun: The Ultimate 6-Day, 5-Night Guide to Harbin, Snow Town, Changbai Mountain, and Yanji

Hey everyone! Winter in Northeast China is truly the peak of romance❄️. I just got back from a -20℃ fairytale world and stayed up all night to put together this essential guide covering Harbin, Snow Town, Changbai Mountain, and Yanji. If you want to roll in the snow and eat popsicles on a heated kang bed, you have to save this post! 🧳 Travel Essentials 🧥 Don't bring cotton base layers! If you sweat, it will freeze and you'll be freezing cold. Quick-dry thermal underwear + wool sweaters + windproof down jackets are the standard. 👖 Choose fleece-lined, windproof pants. 🥾 Shoes must be non-slip, waterproof snow boots (crampons are even better). 👜 Bring a whole box of hand warmers (mostly to stick on your phone; iPhones shut down instantly in the cold). 👓 Sunglasses (to prevent snow blindness), a thermos (for the "boiling water to ice" trick), and moisturizer (it's so dry your skin will peel). 🚥 Transportation Guide ✈️ Long-distance travel: We recommend flying into Harbin and out of Yanji or Changchun to avoid backtracking. High-speed rail is convenient between cities in the Northeast, but we recommend hiring a car for the Snow Town leg. 🚙 Car hire: The roads between Harbin, Snow Town, and Changbai Mountain have deep snow. Do not drive yourself unless you have experience driving in snow. Professional car hires come with snow tires and allow you to stop and take photos whenever you want. The reference price is 600–800 CNY/day, which is very cost-effective if you split it among a group. 🗺️ Itinerary 👉 D1: Central Street → St. Sophia Cathedral → Harbin Ice-Snow World → Stay in Harbin 👉 D2: Harbin → Yabuli Ski Resort → Horse-drawn sled → Stay in Yabuli 👉 D3: Yabuli → Dadingzi Mountain → Snow Gallery → Snow Town 👉 D4: Snow Town → Xueyun Street → Lake Jingpo winter fishing → Erdaobaihe Town (hot springs) 👉 D5: Magic Land rafting → Changbai Mountain North Slope → Internet-famous bullet screen wall → Yanji 👉 D6: Yanji → Water Market → Korean Folk Village → Return from Yanji/Harbin/Changchun 🏰 Accommodation Recommendations 🏨 Harbin: Stay near Central Street. You can walk to St. Sophia Cathedral and the riverside, and all the food and drinks are right downstairs. 🏨 Snow Town: You must experience a heated kang bed room with a private bathroom! Book half a month in advance. Prioritize homestays within a 10-minute walk of Xueyun Street; they are warm and offer great value. 🏨 Changbai Mountain: Stay in Erdaobaihe Town. Choose a hotel with outdoor hot springs. Soaking in volcanic hot springs while watching the snow is an incredible "ice and fire" experience. 🏨 Yanji: Stay near Yanbian University. The internet-famous bullet screen wall and food street are right downstairs. 😋 Food Recommendations 🍜 Harbin: Madieer popsicles (they taste authentic only when eaten outdoors), iron pot stewed goose (must add frozen pears; the fruity flavor cuts the grease). 🍜 Snow Town: Frozen persimmons and frozen pears (thaw them in cold water before eating), sauerkraut with pork and blood sausage. 🍜 Changbai Mountain: Hot spring boiled eggs (firm yolk, tender white), ginseng chicken soup. 🍜 Yanji: Fuwudalu cold noodles (with ice shards), Yuan Nainai wraps, and rice cakes and blood sausage from the Water Market. You can eat until you're stuffed for just a few dozen yuan per person. ⚠️ Precautions 1️⃣ Changbai Mountain Heaven Lake: Whether you can see it depends on luck. Check the real-time status on their official WeChat account in advance, as it may close temporarily during heavy snowstorms. Try to enter the park before 10:00 AM if you want to reach the summit. 2️⃣ Snow Town spending: Ask for prices before doing activities like snowmobiling. Eat at restaurants with clearly marked prices, and don't order so-called "wild game specialties." 3️⃣ Boiling water to ice: You must use hot water above 90℃. Shooting against the light with burst mode works best. Never throw it at people! 4️⃣ Keep your phone warm: Put it in your pocket immediately after taking photos. Before going indoors, put it in a sealed bag to prevent condensation from damaging the motherboard. This winter, you have to visit Northeast China with someone you love! Frolic in the snow and spend a day as a Korean princess in Yanji~ 👸

Harbin–Snow Town–Changbai Mountain–Yanji 6-Day Ultimate Guide – Save This! — traveler post in Mudanjiang

Harbin–Snow Town–Changbai Mountain–Yanji 6-Day Ultimate Guide – Save This!

Everyone! Winter in Northeast China is truly worth it! A fairytale world at minus 20-something degrees Celsius. This travel guide, compiled by locals, includes tips to avoid tourist traps. Save it now! ⭐ 🧳 Travel Essentials 🧥 A windproof, thick down jacket and down pants are a lifesaver. 🥾 Wear high-top, non-slip snow boots (adding snow spikes is best). 👜 Bring plenty of hand warmers; they work great on your ankles and the back of your phone. 👓 Sunglasses are a must to prevent snow blindness and for photos. Carry a power bank, as batteries drain quickly in low temperatures. 🚥 Transportation ✈️ Major travel: We recommend flying into Harbin and out of Yanji or Changchun to avoid backtracking. There is a high-speed train between Changbai Mountain and Yanji that takes only 2 hours. 🚗 Private car hire: We highly recommend hiring a car for the Harbin to Snow Town leg, costing about CNY 600–800/day. Look for legitimate vehicles with snow tires. You can stop anytime to enjoy the scenery at Datuodingzi Mountain and the Snow Gallery, making for a great experience. Hiring a car is also more flexible for the long stretch from Snow Town to Changbai Mountain. 🗺️ Itinerary 👉 D1: Central Street → St. Sophia Cathedral → Harbin Ice-Snow World → Stay in Harbin 👉 D2: Harbin → Yabuli Ski Resort → Horse-drawn Sleigh → Stay in Yabuli 👉 D3: Yabuli → Datuodingzi Mountain → Snow Gallery → Snow Town 👉 D4: Snow Town → Xueyun Street → Jingpo Lake Winter Fishing → Erdaobaihe Town (Hot Springs) 👉 D5: Magic Land Drift → Changbai Mountain North Scenic Area → Internet-famous Bullet Screen Wall → Yanji 👉 D6: Yanji → Water Market → Korean Folk Custom Park → Depart from Yanji/Harbin/Changchun 🏨 Accommodation 🏠 Stay near Central Street in Harbin for easy walking access to St. Sophia Cathedral and the riverside. 🏠 Choose a newly opened homestay inside the Snow Town scenic area with private bathrooms and heating; you can see snow mushrooms right outside your window. 🏠 Stay in Erdaobaihe Town for Changbai Mountain; there are many hot spring hotels, which are amazing in the cold weather. 🏠 Stay near the University Town in Yanji; there are many affordable chain hotels within walking distance of the "Internet-famous wall." 😋 Food 🍜 Must-try: Old Chef (Laochu) Guo Bao Rou (sweet and sour pork) and Madieer popsicles in Harbin. 🍜 Try frozen pears, frozen persimmons, and stewed chicken with mushrooms in Snow Town. 🍜 Hot spring eggs (CNY 10 for 3) at Changbai Mountain are tender and warming. 🍜 Try Quanzhou Bibimbap and Shunji Cold Noodles in Yanji. The rice cakes at the Water Market morning market are cheap and authentic. ⚠️ Tips 1️⃣ Book Changbai Mountain tickets in advance via the official account. Whether Heaven Lake is open depends on the weather, so keep an extra day as a backup. 2️⃣ Walk with small, slow steps on snowy roads, and never keep your hands in your pockets. 3️⃣ Keep your phone and camera in a sealed bag before entering indoors to prevent fogging and frost. 4️⃣ Northeast Chinese portions are large, so order less if you are in a small group. For red sausage, look for Shangwei or Qiulin brands, as there are many imitations in tourist areas. Although it was cold, seeing Heaven Lake made it all worth it! Go for it, everyone! 🔥

Northeast China in winter is legendary! The ultimate guide to Harbin + Snow Town + Changbai Mountain + Yanji

Ladies! You have to visit Northeast China at least once in winter ❄️ From the ice castles of Harbin to the mushroom houses of Snow Town, to the rime rafting in Changbai Mountain, and finally, spending a day as a Korean princess in Yanji 👸 Compiled by locals, this guide is all you need to copy and go ‼️ 🧳 Travel essentials 🧥 Don't wear cotton base layers! You'll cry when your sweat freezes 😭. Follow the "quick-dry base layer + fleece mid-layer + windproof down outer layer" rule. 🥾 Shoes must be waterproof and non-slip. Crampons are a must for Snow Town and Changbai Mountain. 📱 Bring at least 20 hand warmers. Sticking them to your phone is more important than sticking them to your body (iPhones shut down in seconds). 👓 Sunglasses are essential to prevent snow blindness and look great in photos. 🚥 Transportation guide ✈️ Long-distance travel: We recommend flying into Harbin and out of Yanji to avoid backtracking. There is a high-speed train from Changbai Mountain to Yanji, which takes about 1.5 hours and is super convenient. 🚗 Car charter: For the Harbin → Snow Town → Changbai Mountain leg, we recommend chartering a car for families (a 5-seater SUV is about 500–800/day). Make sure to use a legitimate platform and a vehicle with snow tires. Do not drive yourself; the Yaxue Highway is too icy. 🗺️ Itinerary 👉 D1: Central Street → Saint Sophia Cathedral → Harbin Ice-Snow World → Stay in Harbin 👉 D2: Harbin → Yabuli Ski Resort → Horse-drawn sled → Yabuli 👉 D3: Yabuli → Datudingzi Mountain → Snow Gallery → Snow Town 👉 D4: Snow Town → Xueyun Street → Jingpo Lake winter fishing → Erdaobaihe Town (hot spring soak) 👉 D5: Mojie rafting → Changbai Mountain North Scenic Area → Internet-famous bullet screen wall → Yanji 👉 D6: Yanji → Water Market → Korean Folk Custom Park → Return from Yanji/Harbin/Changchun 🏰 Accommodation recommendations 🏨 Harbin: Stay near Central Street for easy access to food, drinks, and sightseeing. 🏨 Snow Town: You must experience a heated brick bed (kang) room with a private bathroom. Book at least half a month in advance during peak season! Choose a guesthouse within a 10-minute walk of Xueyun Street for better value. 🏨 Changbai Mountain: Stay in Erdaobaihe Town and enjoy a volcanic hot spring soak while you're there. 🏨 Yanji: Stay near the Yanji University internet-famous wall; there's food right downstairs. 😋 Food guide 🍜 Harbin: Guo bao rou (sweet and sour pork), Madieer ice lolly (it's only authentic if you eat it outside). 🍜 Snow Town: Frozen pears and persimmons are great for cutting the grease, and iron pot stew is heartwarming. Avoid: Prices in Snow Town are on the high side; go back to Harbin for affordable eats. 🍜 Changbai Mountain: Hot spring eggs (10 for 3). 🍜 Yanji: Quanzhou bibimbap, Shunji cold noodles, and the rice cakes and blood sausage at the Water Market are amazing. ⚠️ Tips 1️⃣ Whether Heaven Lake is open depends on luck: The weather at Changbai Mountain is unpredictable. Check the scenic area announcements before you leave. If you can't see it, don't force it—leave a little regret for next time. 2️⃣ "Water thrown into ice" is free: Don't pay for a designated spot. Just ask your guesthouse for a kettle of hot water and have fun. 3️⃣ Photos in Snow Town: If you just want to take pictures of the snow mushrooms, the outskirts are fine. Dream Home charges an entrance fee; only buy a ticket if you want to watch the Errenzhuan performance. 4️⃣ Walk like a penguin: Keep your hands out of your pockets and take small, shuffling steps to avoid falling. This winter, grab your bestie and just go! 🚀

Harbin + Snow Town + Changbai Mountain + Yanji, this route is legendary at over 3,000 CNY per person

Girls! You have to visit Northeast China in winter at least once 🥹 From the ice castles in Harbin, to the mushroom houses in Snow Town, to Heaven Lake at Changbai Mountain and the Korean drama-style viral photo wall in Yanji, this trip was truly breathtaking! I just got back, so here is a fresh guide you can follow directly 👇 🧳 Travel essentials (take my advice!) 🧥 Don't underestimate the bone-chilling cold of temperatures below -20°C! The three-layer dressing method is the most reliable: quick-dry base layer + wool sweater + windproof down jacket. 👜 Hats 👒 must cover your ears, choose waterproof gloves 🧤, and buy high-top, non-slip snow boots 🥾. Bring plenty of hand warmers and stick them to the back of your phone to prevent it from shutting down due to the cold (iPhone users know what I mean). 👓 Sunglasses are a must to prevent snow blindness. 🚥 Transportation guide ✈️ Getting there: It's recommended to fly into Harbin and out of Yanji to avoid backtracking. 🚗 Car rental/charter: Public transportation is inconvenient between Snow Town and Changbai Mountain, so chartering a car is the most worry-free option. Find a car through official channels; an SUV costs about 500–800 CNY/day. Drivers familiar with icy roads are safer. It takes about 5–6 hours from Harbin to Snow Town, and only 2 hours from Changbai Mountain to Yanji. 🗺️ Itinerary 👉 D1: Central Street → St. Sophia Cathedral → Ice and Snow World → Stay in Harbin 👉 D2: Harbin → Yabuli Ski Resort → Horse-drawn sled → Stay in Yabuli 👉 D3: Yabuli → Datudingzi Mountain → Snow Gallery → Snow Town 👉 D4: Snow Town → Xueyun Street → Jingpo Lake winter fishing → Erdaobaihe Town (hot springs) 👉 D5: Magic Land rafting → Changbai Mountain North Slope → Viral photo wall → Yanji 👉 D6: Yanji → Water Market → Korean Folk Village → Return from Yanji/Harbin/Changchun 🏨 Accommodation recommendations 🏠 Stay near Central Street in Harbin for convenient shopping and dining; 🏠 You must stay in a heated kang in Snow Town for the full experience (book in advance!); 🏠 For Changbai Mountain, I recommend Erdaobaihe Town, as it's close to the North Slope; 🏠 Stay near the University Town in Yanji; the food street is right downstairs. 😋 Food recommendations 🍜 Harbin iron pot stew with corn cakes is incredibly delicious; 🍜 Frozen pears and persimmons in Snow Town are teeth-chilling but super refreshing; 🍜 You must have Korean-style BBQ after coming down from Changbai Mountain; 🍜 The rice cakes and rice wine at the Yanji Water Market, plus the cold noodles at the Service Building, still make my mouth water just thinking about them 🤤 ⚠️ Tips to avoid pitfalls 1️⃣ The Ice and Snow World is most beautiful when the lights turn on at 4:30 PM. Buy tickets online in advance. 2️⃣ Snow Town tickets cost 120 CNY and are valid for 48 hours. Private cars aren't allowed in, so you'll need to take a shuttle bus. 3️⃣ Seeing Heaven Lake at Changbai Mountain depends on luck. It can close anytime due to high winds, so keep an eye on the official WeChat account before you head out. 4️⃣ Go to the Yanji viral photo wall at night for the best photos. Don't waste your time going during the day! My phone storage was completely full after this trip. As a "Southern potato," I'm still reeling from the experience and want to go back again 😭

2026 Northeast China 4-City Guide | Harbin + Snow Town + Changbaishan + Yanji Ultimate Travel Tips

Winter in Northeast China is truly healing! Want to see the Ice City night views, fairytale Snow Town, snowy mountain Heavenly Lake, and Korean-style town scenery all at once? ✨ 🎒 Travel Essentials | -30℃ Survival Checklist 🥶 The Northeast is brutally cold and dry, so dress practically! Must-haves include a long, thickened down jacket, waterproof snow pants, non-slip snow boots, a trapper hat, scarf, and touchscreen gloves. Keep hand warmers, heated insoles, high-moisture face cream, and lip balm handy to combat the dry, cold wind. The snow reflects light intensely, so bring sunglasses to prevent snow blindness. Keep your phone in an inner pocket, as low temperatures can easily cause it to shut down automatically. Remember to bring a power bank! ✈️ Transportation Guide | Long-Distance Travel + Private Car Charter Tips ▪️ Long-distance travel: The optimal route is flying into Harbin and out of Yanji. This allows for a smooth, one-way trip without backtracking or wasting time, making it a classic winter loop in the Northeast. ▪️ Intercity travel: Mountain roads in the Northeast are icy and prone to heavy snow in winter, so self-driving is not recommended! Book a legitimate local small-group private car charter 🚙. Experienced drivers are familiar with icy road conditions, can stop for photos of rime ice and snowfields along the way, and keep your luggage in the car. It’s a relaxing, worry-free, and safe way to travel without rushing. D1: Central Street → St. Sophia Cathedral → Ice and Snow World → Stay in Harbin D2: Harbin → Yabuli Ski Resort → Horse-drawn Sled → Stay in Yabuli D3: Yabuli → Dadingzishan Mountain → Snow Gallery → Snow Town D4: Snow Town → Xueyun Street → Jingpo Lake Winter Fishing → Stay in Erdaobaihe Town (Hot Spring) D5: Magic Land Rafting → Changbaishan North Scenic Area → Internet-famous Photo Wall → Yanji D6: Yanji → Water Market → Korean Folk Village → Return from Yanji/Harbin/Changchun 🏨 Accommodation Recommendations Harbin: Stay near Central Street. You can walk to St. Sophia Cathedral and Ice and Snow World, making it super convenient for sightseeing and dining. China Snow Town: Prioritize wooden cabin homestays inside the scenic area. Open your window to see "snow mushroom" cabins. At night, the red lanterns create a perfect atmosphere, allowing you to immerse yourself in a fairytale world. Changbaishan: Stay at a hot spring hotel in Erdaobaihe Town. It's close to the scenic area. After reaching the summit to see Heavenly Lake, soak in a snow hot spring ♨️ to experience the contrast of ice and fire. Yanji: Target areas near the "Internet-famous wall" and West Market. You'll find Korean food right downstairs, and it's close to the Folk Village, making it very convenient for getting around. 🍜 Must-Eat Foods in the 4 Cities 🍧 Harbin: Old-fashioned sweet and sour pork (Guo Bao Rou), iron pot stew, Russian-style red sausage, and Madieer popsicles—authentic Northeast flavors! 🏡 Snow Town: Frozen pears, frozen persimmons, chicken stewed with mushrooms, and sauerkraut stewed with vermicelli—hot farmhouse dishes that are very warming. 🏔️ Changbaishan: Hot spring eggs, ginseng chicken soup, and wild vegetable stir-fry—authentic, nourishing, and delicious. 🇰🇵 Yanji: Bibimbap, Korean BBQ, spicy chicken feet, and Korean blood sausage—you must try these Korean ethnic specialties! ⚠️ Winter Travel Tips & Pitfalls 1. The weather at Changbaishan Heavenly Lake is changeable. Strong winds and heavy snow can lead to temporary closures, so check the weather forecast before you go. 2. It's super hot indoors and extremely cold outdoors in the Northeast. Remember to add or remove layers in time to avoid catching a cold from the temperature difference. 3. Don't keep your hands in your pockets when walking on snow. Take small, slow steps, as icy roads are very slippery. 4. Portions of Northeast dishes are huge. Order less and add more as needed to avoid waste. 5. Ask about the prices of entertainment activities in Snow Town in advance to avoid hidden costs. 6. December–February is peak travel season. Be sure to book hotels, attraction tickets, and private car charters in advance! This winter, you must head out to experience the falling snow of the North 🌨️ Unlock the ultimate romance of the Northeast!

I went to Northeast China this winter, and my social media feed blew up with questions when I got back!

Ladies! Winter in the Northeast really nails the definition of romance 😭 The ice in Harbin, the mushroom houses in Snow Town, the rime ice on Changbai Mountain, and the vibrant atmosphere of Yanji—I covered it all in one trip. I stayed up late to put together this ultimate guide. Read it and go! 🧳 Packing Essentials 🧥 Don't wear cotton base layers! If you sweat, you'll freeze. Quick-dry thermal underwear + sweater/fleece + windproof thick down jacket is the right way to go. 🥾 You must wear waterproof, non-slip snow boots. Definitely bring crampons for Snow Town and Changbai Mountain. 👜 Bring plenty of hand warmers, mainly to stick on your phone (iPhones shut down instantly in the cold). 👓 Sunglasses are a must to prevent snow blindness. Keep a power bank on you; batteries drain extremely fast in low temperatures. 🚥 Transportation Guide Long-distance travel: I recommend flying into Harbin and out of Yanji to avoid backtracking. There is a high-speed train from Changbai Mountain to Yanji, which takes about 2 hours and is very convenient. 🚗 Car charter: I recommend chartering a car for the Harbin → Snow Town → Changbai Mountain leg. A 5-seater SUV costs about CNY 500–800/day. Stick to legitimate platforms and vehicles with snow tires; ignore cheap, unlicensed cars on the side of the road. Private cars cannot enter Snow Town; you'll need to take a shuttle bus. 🗺️ Itinerary 👉 D1: Central Street → St. Sophia Cathedral → Harbin Ice-Snow World → Stay in Harbin 👉 D2: Harbin → Yabuli Ski Resort → Horse-drawn sled → Yabuli 👉 D3: Yabuli → Datudingzi Mountain → Snow Gallery → Snow Town 👉 D4: Snow Town → Xueyun Street → Jingpo Lake winter fishing → Erdaobaihe Town (hot springs) 👉 D5: Magic Land rafting → Changbai Mountain North Scenic Area → Internet-famous "Barrage Wall" → Yanji 👉 D6: Yanji → Water Market → Korean Folk Village → Return to Yanji/Harbin/Changchun 🏨 Accommodation Recommendations 🏠 Harbin: Stay near Central Street. It's within walking distance to St. Sophia Cathedral and the riverside, making it convenient for sightseeing and eating. 🏠 Snow Town: Be sure to book a homestay inside the scenic area with a private bathroom in advance; prices skyrocket during peak season. If you want to save money, stay on the outskirts of Snow Town; you can still walk to Xueyun Street in 10 minutes. 🏠 Changbai Mountain: Stay in Erdaobaihe Town. Prices are reasonable, and some hotels have real hot springs—soaking while watching the snow is amazing. 🏠 Yanji: Stay near Yanbian University. The internet-famous wall and food street are right downstairs, and there are many chain hotels for around 100 CNY. 😋 Food Recommendations 🍜 Harbin guobaorou (sweet and sour pork) and Modern ice lollies (they taste most authentic when eaten outdoors); 🍜 Snow Town iron pot stew with corn cakes, and frozen pears and persimmons to cleanse the palate; 🍜 Changbai Mountain hot spring eggs (CNY 10 for 3, the soft-boiled yolks are incredible); 🍜 Yanji Quanzhou bibimbap, Shunji cold noodles, and the rice cakes and blood sausage at the Water Market—just go for it. ⚠️ Tips 1️⃣ Whether Changbai Mountain Heaven Lake is open depends entirely on the weather. Check the scenic area's announcements before you leave, and don't be too disappointed if you can't see it. 2️⃣ Walk with small, slow steps on the snow. Don't keep your hands in your pockets—it really hurts if you fall. 3️⃣ Put your phone in a sealed bag before going indoors to prevent fogging. Ask for prices before purchasing anything in Snow Town, and don't buy "sky-high priced" snow gear on the side of the road. 4️⃣ Northeast Chinese portions are huge, so if you're from the South, order carefully. This trip was truly healing. It's cold, yes, but the joy is doubled! your bestie, you have to plan this for this winter 🔥

It's dreamlike and rare. ❄️ Mohe, Heilongjiang China's northernmost small city. Visit the Arctic Village and birch forests, watch the starry sky, and if you're lucky, catch the aurora borealis. Experience the pure, sub-zero north. ❄️ Snow Town, Heilongjiang Layer upon layer of mushroom-shaped snow houses, with red lanterns dotting the white snow. At night, the warm light spreads, creating a perfect atmosphere for an immersive experience of Northeast China's snow country charm. 🌿 Tengchong, Yunnan Escape the harsh winter for a date with hot springs and ginkgo trees. Golden ginkgo leaves cover the villages; soak in natural hot springs and stroll through Heshun Ancient Town. It's warm and peaceful. ☀️ Sanya, Hainan The top choice for escaping the winter cold. Blue seas and white sands, gentle sea breezes—take off your heavy coat, walk on the beach, watch the sunset, and turn winter into summer. ✅ Travel Tips ▪️ Snow routes: Thick down jackets, fleece-lined pants, snow boots, hand warmers, sunglasses (to prevent snow blindness), and keep your camera protected from the cold. ▪️ Warm route (Tengchong): Cool mornings and evenings, keep a light jacket handy; in Sanya, mostly short sleeves, but pack one light long-sleeved item. ▪️ Many winter sights depend on luck (rime ice, Heavenly Lake, aurora), so keep an open mind. ▪️ Be cautious when driving in snowy areas; prioritize hiring a car and pay attention to road conditions.

Jingpo Lake Scenic Spot

I've visited many 5A scenic spots, and this one was a great experience, mainly due to the staff. The bus ticket inspectors were very welcoming, greeting me warmly. Because it was the off-season, there weren't many people, and the driver, worried about missing my waterfall viewing, took the entire shuttle bus just for me – I was very touched. When I travel alone, I ask someone to take my picture, and if it happens, the staff will say "Welcome back next time" afterward – very thoughtful. With the recent popularity of Qing Dynasty dramas, this place recreates some scenes from Ningguta, which is quite interesting. Jingpo Lake itself is also very scenic, with a large body of water. The boat tour takes over an hour and is very comfortable!

China Snow Town

Although many say China's Snow Town is becoming too touristy & expensive (compared to Snow Valley), I think it is still worth visiting. There are lots of ACTIVITIES to do all within walking distance. Reindeer rides, feeding, skiing, photo op including the hot water vapor video etc. One down side is that there was no signage to designated bus to/from Yabuli station (no waiting area either). It is also difficult to find restaurants for people with dietary restrictions (eg. Vegetarian, halal etc).

Hengdao Tiger Forest Park

After exiting Hengdaohezi East Station, take a taxi for 10 yuan to the visitor center. Inside, buy a 10 yuan shuttle bus ticket. After scanning the code to enter the park, take the shuttle bus to the wild training area to see the tigers. There are about 40 tigers; do not feed them while on the bus. After getting off the bus, there is a designated area for feeding the tigers. There are also other animals you can observe and feed.

Suifenhe Port National Gate Scenic Area

📍Suifenhe National Gate 🇨🇳The only scenic area in China with a cross-border passage running through the entire country 🇨🇳The only scenic area among China's national gate scenic spots to integrate three generations of national gates 🇨🇳A Class A national port for trade between China and Russia 🇨🇳Since the first-generation cast iron barrier gate was put into use in 1987, it has undergone the transformation from the second-generation rocket-shaped national gate in 1991 to the third-generation Chinese-style national gate (51.8 meters high) in 2014.

Crater National Forest Park

It's more fun than Jingpo Lake. The sightseeing bus ride into the mountains alone takes half an hour. There are three attractions, and it's best to allow two hours for the last one, the crater forest, otherwise it will be too rushed, and my knees will be sore from walking.

Xuexiang National Forest Park

If you have time, definitely buy the package ticket on the bus—it's super fun! Some people brought several large plastic bags; you can ski and roll around on the mountain! (It's difficult without plastic bags, as they don't sell them on the mountain!)

Hengdaohezi Town

In late September, the autumn atmosphere of Hengdaohezi Town was in full swing, its beauty reminiscent of a richly colored oil painting. A thin morning mist shrouded the forest, and sunlight filtered through the branches, scattering golden leaves across the ground like scattered gold. The air was filled with the delicate fragrance of pine resin and earth, a deep breath refreshing and refreshing. This town prospered thanks to the Chinese Eastern Railway, a century ago serving as a major railway hub. Today, the old locomotive shed, water tower, and remnants of the railway tracks stand quietly, testament to its former prosperity. Russian-style architecture dotted the landscape, with pointed wooden houses and carved window frames complementing the autumn colors, creating a sense of time travel. Stone-paved streets meandered along, punctuated by a staggered arrangement of wooden houses. Red peppers and ears of corn hanging from the eaves complemented the Russian-style carved balconies. Occasionally, a horse-drawn carriage passed by, the clatter of horse hooves echoing through the streets, blending with the distant whistle of a train, creating a unique and captivating atmosphere. Outside the town, surrounded by mountains, the forests are a vibrant tapestry. Red, yellow, orange, and green interweave into a vibrant canvas, reflected in the clear river. A gentle breeze sways light and shadows, and fallen leaves drift on the water, carrying away the lingering warmth of summer. Autumn in Hengdaohezi is not only a visual feast but also a spiritual retreat. Local residents leisurely sit in front of their homes, basking in the sun, while children chase and play in the woods. The slow and relaxing pace here makes one forget the hustle and bustle of the city. In the evening, the setting sun bathes the town in a golden glow. Standing on the bridge, the historic weight of the Middle East Railway, the exotic charm of Russian architecture, and the rich autumn atmosphere blend seamlessly, creating a unique charm that makes Hengdaohezi so unforgettable.

Weihushan Film And Television City

During summer vacation, we took the kids out to play and passed by Hengdaohezi. We rushed straight to the Tiger Park and Weihushan Film and Television City. The Tiger Park was great. We could see Siberian tigers up close and even saw Siberian tiger cubs. The little guys could even open the door, which was really fun.

Ten-Mile Ice and Snow Gallery

It was pretty bad. It was crowded and chaotic. If the first gate didn't check tickets, why had someone stop people to check them? Then there was a second ticket check at the second place—WTF?! There were no QR codes for the tickets either. Multiple checks in the freezing cold, and still paper tickets—so primitive! See the video for how chaotic it was? And the parking lot was unmanaged. In short, the management was terrible. The old man checking tickets at the gate even had the audacity to say things like, "We've never even flown before." Honestly, Hallasan Mountain is covered in snow, like something out of Narnia, the climb is easy, and it's free—isn't that great?

Erlanghe Scenic Area

Erlanghe Tourist Scenic Area is located in the middle section of Zhangguangcai Mountains, on the northeast side of Laotudingzi, and is connected to China Snow Town in the south. The climate is similar to that of China Snow Town. The snow season lasts for 7 months and the snow thickness can reach about 2 meters. The amount of snow, snow quality and snow viscosity are extremely special. The wonders such as snow hangings and rime that take shapes according to objects amaze all tourists. Its landscape is comparable to the snow scenery of Xuexiang and Yabuli Scenic Area!
