Yichun family trip | Tangwanghe Forest Park, step into the real-life Bear Ridge forest — traveler post in Yichun

Yichun family trip | Tangwanghe Forest Park, step into the real-life Bear Ridge forest

Brought the kids to Yichun and found a real-life Bear Ridge that they really love. Vast virgin red pine forests paired with strange rocks and streams; walking into the forest feels like stepping into a fairy tale world. I've organized the photo spots, routes, and tips for family travel, which you can refer to if you're planning a trip with kids. Attraction overview Tangwanghe Forest Park is located in Yichun. It is a virgin red pine forest area with various granite rock formations and streams running through the woods. There are also forest-themed photo spots. The air is fresh, making it perfect for a family forest adventure. Photo spots 1. Yixiantian rock crevice: Look up and capture the light beams filtering through the gap for a great atmosphere 2. Mileding Observation Deck: Overlook the entire forest and stone forest in one frame 3. Streamside boardwalk: Capture natural, dynamic photos of kids playing in the water 4. Forest-themed photo spots: Perfect for taking fairy-tale-style portraits of children Dining There are few dining options inside the scenic area, so it is recommended to bring your own drinking water and snacks. In town, you can try Northeast iron pot stew, wild mountain vegetables, and local specialties like dried blueberries and pine nuts. Target audience & tips ✅ Target audience: Families with children, hiking enthusiasts, and travelers looking to experience a natural oxygen bar ⚠️ Tips 1. The temperature in the forest area is lower, about 3–5°C cooler than in the city, so bring a light jacket 2. There are many mosquitoes in the forest, so prepare mosquito repellent in advance and try to wear long sleeves and pants 3. There are stairs along the tour route; keep an eye on your children and watch your step to avoid slipping 4. The scenic area is large; it is recommended to buy a sightseeing car ticket to avoid exhausting yourself by walking the whole way Travel route | Family-friendly route Enter the park and take the sightseeing car → Visit Yixiantian → Stroll along the streamside boardwalk and play in the water → View the forest from the Mileding Observation Deck → Find forest-themed installations for photos. Total duration: 3–4 hours. Transportation Driving is more convenient. It takes about 4–5 hours from Harbin and 1.5 hours from downtown Yichun. You can also take a train to Tangwanghe Station and take a taxi to the scenic area from there. Personal experience Bringing my child here this time, they were excited the whole way, constantly looking for small animals in the forest. Walking on the wooden boardwalk, listening to the wind blowing through the pine forest and the babbling stream, we were fully immersed in the forest. My child had so much fun they didn't want to leave. Travel tips & notes The UV rays in the forest are still strong, so be sure to use sunscreen. The sightseeing car has a last departure time, so don't stay too late. Do not pick wild plants. Off-peak tips There are fewer tourists on weekdays, making the forest quieter. Weekend crowds increase, and spots like Yixiantian may require queuing, so it is recommended to enter the park early. Accommodation & attire You can stay at a homestay in Tangwanghe Town, which is close to the scenic area and has many dining options. For attire, choose comfortable, non-slip sneakers, long sleeves, and long pants, and bring a light jacket. Ticket info Peak season tickets are CNY 90, and off-season tickets are CNY 55. The sightseeing car is CNY 25. Booking online in advance is more budget-friendly. Students, seniors, and children can enjoy corresponding discounts with valid ID. 💬: This forest in Yichun is perfect for a short adventure with kids. If you are planning a family trip to Northeast China, would you consider adding Tangwanghe to your itinerary?

Jiayin, Yichun | Dinosaur fossils, the ultimate family guide — traveler post in Yichun

Jiayin, Yichun | Dinosaur fossils, the ultimate family guide

Come to Jiayin, Yichun! Don't just know about Maolangou. The Jiayin Dinosaur National Geopark is the real hidden gem✨ This is the excavation site of the "First Dragon of China." It's not just some fake influencer models!! There are real fossil strata and dinosaur skeletons everywhere. On one side is the billion-year-old dinosaur site, and on the other is the China-Russia border river. It's an educational destination that shocks adults and that kids will absolutely love 🦖 Location: Hongguang Township, Jiayin County, Yichun (10 km west of the county seat) Duration: 2–3 hours (easy and relaxing) Admission: Geopark is free!! Sightseeing bus: ¥20/person (optional, highly recommended to save energy) Opening hours May 1–Oct 31 | 8:30 AM–4:30 PM (last entry at 4:30 PM) Nov 1–Apr 30 | 8:30 AM–4:00 PM (last entry at 3:30 PM) Four must-visit highlights (don't miss these!) 1. China Dinosaur Museum | The MVP of the park‼️ The museum is packed with real dinosaur fossil skeletons. The museum's treasure, the "Heilongjiang Mandschurosaurus," is the "First Dragon of China" from the textbooks! The Hadrosaur mother and child fossils are incredibly impressive. Kids will be glued to them the whole time. A true walking natural history classroom 🌍 2. Longgu Mountain Excavation Site | The soul of the park Many people leave after visiting the museum! That's a huge mistake. Walk down the mountain to the banks of the Heilongjiang River. This is the original excavation pit for the dinosaur fossils. You're standing on Cretaceous strata. Get up close to see the rock textures; the atmosphere is incredible. You can also overlook the China-Russia border river, with the mountains of Russia on the other side. The view is expansive, healing, and spectacular 🌊 3. Dinosaur Sculpture Valley Hundreds of 1:1 scale dinosaur models are scattered throughout the huge valley. The forest trails are perfect for photos. It's like stepping into a real prehistoric Jurassic forest. Kids can run and jump along the way, and it's super photogenic 📸 4. China Dinosaur Tower A seven-story tower; climb to the top for a panoramic view of the entire dinosaur park and the border river. The view is unbeatable! (The stairs are steep; seniors and children should proceed with caution) Family-friendly bonus (summer only) Capybara Petting Zoo in the park Open annually from June to August You can get up close and pet the animals. Visit the fossils, then see the cute animals—the kids will be twice as happy! Beginner's guide to avoiding pitfalls 1. Geopark = see real fossils | Northern Dinosaur Park = indoor amusement The two places are right next to each other! For pure science education, just visit the free Geopark. Buy a separate ticket for the amusement park if you want to play VR or immersive projects. 2. Do not pick up stones by the river; it's a protected geological site. 3. Highly recommend taking the sightseeing bus for the whole trip! It's a long walk and a waste of energy. Energy-saving route (follow this directly) Entrance → Sightseeing bus → Dinosaur Museum (main focus) → Dinosaur Valley for photos → China Dinosaur Tower → Longgu Mountain Excavation Site by the river → Return Perfect one-day itinerary for Jiayin Morning: Science education at the Dinosaur Geopark Noon: Eat authentic Heilongjiang river fish in the county seat Afternoon: Watch the sunset over the border river by the riverside; relaxing and healing.

Yichun Wuying National Forest Park | Easy hiking route guide — traveler post in Yichun

Yichun Wuying National Forest Park | Easy hiking route guide

When visiting Yichun, Wuying is a must-visit. It is home to Asia's best-preserved virgin red pine forest, with vast stretches of ancient trees. Many people find the standard route exhausting, so I'd like to share a comfortable itinerary I've personally tested: take the sightseeing bus directly to the Forest Bathing Area upon entry, then hike your way out. This way, you won't have to backtrack. Two Steps track ID: 46756179. Total distance: 5 km; elevation gain: 100 m. 📍Location: Wuying National Forest Park, Fenglin County, Yichun. 🎫Admission: General admission is ¥60, and the sightseeing bus is ¥20. I highly recommend purchasing the sightseeing bus ticket, as the park is huge and walking the whole thing is exhausting. Students and seniors are eligible for ticket discounts. The park stops checking tickets and admitting visitors at 3:30 PM, so I recommend starting early. After passing the ticket check, take the sightseeing bus directly through the layers of red pine forest to the first stop: the Forest Bathing Area. This is the core area of the virgin red pine forest. Century-old red pines tower into the sky with thick, straight trunks. Sunlight filters through the branches, casting dappled shadows on the wooden boardwalk. The air is filled with a faint scent of pine resin and is rich in negative oxygen ions. It's an immersive, lung-cleansing stroll. If you're lucky, you might even spot squirrels with fluffy tails jumping between the trees. Leaving the Forest Bathing Area, hike along the Xiangshui Creek trail. The stream flows gently through the forest, making a tinkling sound. The rocks are covered in thick moss, and the scenery is full of pristine, wild greenery. The entire trail is shaded by trees, so you won't be exposed to the harsh sun. Listen to the flowing water, smell the pine fragrance, and immerse yourself in the tranquility of the forest. Continue forward to reach the "Park within a Park," a transit station in the scenic area. Take a short break before continuing through the vast virgin red pine forest. The tall red pines reach straight into the clouds. Surrounded by layers of greenery deep in the forest, you can hear the sound of the wind through the trees—a truly breathtaking experience. Next, check out the Shaoqi Forest Train. The vintage locomotive sits quietly among the forest, full of historical charm. It's a must-visit photo spot where you can easily snap atmospheric, forest-style photos. After visiting the train, continue hiking along the wooden boardwalk to Tianci Lake. A pool of clear, calm water is hidden deep in the forest. When there is no wind, it acts like a mirror, reflecting the red pines, blue sky, and white clouds. Stroll along the wooden boardwalk by the lake and enjoy the beauty of the mountains, forest, and water blending together. After exploring Tianci Lake, take the sightseeing bus directly from the station back to the park exit to wrap up your trip perfectly. This route combines riding and hiking, allowing you to see all the highlights without long-distance backtracking. Even those with average stamina can easily complete it. 💡Travel tips: The temperature in the forest area is relatively low, and there are many mosquitoes, so remember to apply mosquito repellent in advance. The wooden boardwalks can be damp, so remember to wear non-slip hiking shoes. Please protect the virgin forest: do not pick plants, do not chase small animals, and practice "leave no trace" tourism. Immerse yourself in the vast sea of red pine forests, listen to the wind in the pines, and smell the pine fragrance. Experiencing the unique tranquility and romance of the Lesser Khingan Mountains' virgin forest in Wuying is the most comfortable way to enjoy a forest trip in Yichun.

You know what I mean!! Autumn in Northeast China is just breathtaking — traveler post in Yichun

You know what I mean!! Autumn in Northeast China is just breathtaking

It’s home to the Lesser and Greater Khingan Mountains and Changbai Mountain, yet people only think of it in winter. But autumn in the Northeast is truly speechless-level beautiful 🤯 Plus, it’s uncrowded and affordable! Can you believe that the cost of one night in a popular tourist spot can cover a whole week here? 💰 If you’re tired of the crowds at viral photo spots, save this road trip route! Just pull over in any forest, and the whole world is yours 🏔️ 🚙 7-day autumn chasing route: D1 Harbin – Yichun D2 Yichun – Jinshan Deer Park – Daliangzihe Forest Park – Tangwang River – Tangyuan County D3 Tangyuan – Aoqiwan – Hengdaohezi D4 Hengdaohezi – Changbai Mountain Loop – Lushuihe D5 Lushuihe – Songjianghe – Tonghua D6 Tonghua – Benhuan Highway – Qingman Fenglin – Yanghugou – Benxi D7 Benxi – Guanmen Mountain – Shenyang 🍁 Best viewing period: Late September – mid-October Autumn colors don't wait! Hesitate for a few days and the leaves will all be gone 😱 🔻 Yichun Jinshan Deer Park 🔻 The only tourist spot I recommend on the whole trip! You must get there early in the morning! Go before the deer head up the mountain. It’s freezing in the morning 🥶, but seeing the deer in the morning mist makes it all worth it! 🔻 Changbai Mountain North Slope Loop Road 🔻 A stunning section of G331! From Erdaobaihe to Songjianghe, the colorful forests along the way are layered with gold, as rich in color as a palette 🎨 You can also see the snow-capped peak of Changbai Mountain from a distance—you can take blockbuster photos without even entering the scenic area. 🔻 Benhuan Highway 🔻 The legendary China Maple Leaf Avenue!! The best parts are at Qingman Fenglin and Yanghugou; they’re free and even more beautiful than the scenic areas. When the maple leaves turn bright red on both sides of the stream and the colorful forest reflects in the water, it’s truly beyond words 😭 🔻 Heda Highway 🔻 On the way from Songjianghe to Tonghua along G201, I stumbled upon a fairytale-like forest. Sunlight filtered through the leaves, just like walking into a movie scene 🎬 💡 Autumn chasing tips: ✅ Don't go into the scenic areas! They’re crowded and have fewer leaves; aunties pluck the red leaves to make wreaths 😅 ✅ The autumn sun in the Northeast is gentle, perfect for taking photos all day long 📸 ✅ It gets dark after five! Start early while it’s light out! ✅ Self-driving is recommended! The scenery on the road is way, way more beautiful than in the scenic areas. ✅ Be decisive when chasing autumn! If you see fallen leaves, change locations; the autumn colors a few hundred kilometers away might be just right. Autumn in the Northeast is truly stunning and off the beaten path. Go for it before too many people discover it! 🏃‍♀️

October in Yichun is when the Lesser Khingan Mountains paint autumn in its richest colors. It's not just "going to see the forest," it's falling entirely into an amber hue—white birch, red maple

October in Yichun is when the Lesser Khingan Mountains paint autumn in its richest colors🍁 It's not "going to see the forest," it's falling entirely into an amber hue—white birch, red maple, larch, morning mist, pine scent, small train stations, everything just the right amount of slow🌲 Following the Trip.com community vibe of "recommendations like a friend, no hard ads, worth saving," here is your slow-travel guide to Yichun and the Lesser Khingan Mountains in October👇 💰 [Budget Reference | Easy living in a small Northeast city] · Budget/Student: 4 days 3 nights, 900–1,300 CNY/person Take a train to Yichun/Tieli, stay in the city center or Tangwanghe, eat iron pot stew + home-style dishes. Most attraction tickets are affordable, and you can wander around some free primitive forest areas🆓 · Comfortable self-driving/chartered car tour: 4 days 3 nights, 1,600–2,400 CNY/person Connect Yichun—Wuying—Tangwanghe—Jiayin, stay in forest homestays, and take your time photographing the morning mist. · Chic autumn version: 5 days 4 nights, 2,500–3,500 CNY/person Add Maolangou, the China-Russia border river, and Jinshan Deer Park. Stay in forest-style cabins and drink pine needle tea while watching the mist in the morning. October isn't the peak season, so accommodation is much cheaper than in summer, though prices will rise slightly during the National Day holiday (Oct 1–Oct 5)📈 📍 [Must-visit/Recommendations | Don't pack it all in, pick your forests] 🍂 Wuying National Forest Park: Primitive Korean pine forest. In October, it's layered in yellow, green, and red. Walking the boardwalk feels like stepping into a fairy tale. 🪨 Tangwanghe Forest Sea and Strange Rocks: Rocks grow within the forest, and the forest grows on the rocks. It's incredibly healing when the afternoon light hits. 🌫 Maolangou: The "Northern Jiuzhaigou" of the Lesser Khingan Mountains. Features valleys + cliffs + autumn leaves, with fewer crowds than the name suggests. 🦌 Jinshan Deer Park: The sika deer aren't afraid of people. In October, the grass is yellow and the deer have thick coats. It looks like Hokkaido in photos, but wilder. 🌅 Jiayin Heilongjiang Riverbank: Border river, morning mist, and a Russian-town vibe. Perfect for zoning out in silence. 🚂 Nancha/Dailing Old Forest Area: Small train stations, logging memories, and forest railway culture. A favorite for slow travelers. 🌲 Shangganling Creek Park: White birch forest + streams. In October, the white trunks against yellow leaves make it highly photogenic. 🍁 Umahe/Cuiluan surrounding village roads: "Wild autumn colors" with no admission fees. The most authentic spots where locals go for a stroll. 🗺 [Slow-paced route | Max 3 spots per day] Day 1: Wake up to autumn in Yichun city Yichun Station → Lesser Khingan Mountains Stone Garden → Wood Carving Park → Heilongjiang Forestry Museum → Night stroll at the Department Store to eat grilled cold noodles. 👉 Don't rush far on the first day; start by smelling the pine scent in the air. Day 2: Wuying + Tangwanghe Wuying National Forest Park (best light in the morning) → Tangwanghe Forest Sea and Strange Rocks (walk the boardwalk in the evening). 👉 Stay in the direction of Tangwanghe/Wuyiling to wait for the morning mist the next day. Day 3: Maolangou + Jiayin Border River Walk the valley floor at Maolangou → Stroll along the Heilongjiang River in Jiayin → Russian-style architecture + river fish restaurant. 👉 Don't pack this day full; once the river breeze hits, you'll naturally want to slow down. Day 4: Jinshan Deer Park + White Birch Forest Feed the deer at Jinshan Deer Park (bring carrots🥕) → White birch forest at Shangganling Creek Park → Return to Yichun city. 👉 Drink a bowl of pine mushroom chicken soup before heading back to complete your autumn loop✅ Day 5 (Optional): Dailing/Langxiang old forest railway line Small train vibes, old forestry company streets, autumn vegetables piled in courtyards—it's like walking into 90s Northeast literature📖 🍲 [Food recommendations | Warm up your forest-trekking stomach] · Iron pot stew: Ribs with green beans and potatoes, river fish with corn cakes. You have to work up a sweat eating this in autumn. · Heilongjiang river fish: In Jiayin, try the braised carp/sturgeon in sauce. It's so fresh it doesn't taste like typical tourist food. · Wild vegetables: Bracken, aralia shoots, wood ear mushrooms, hazel mushrooms. Stir-fried with meat or made into soup, it's all wild flavor. · Pine mushroom/hazel mushroom stewed chicken: In season in October. Don't buy it at the train station—it's too expensive. It's more reliable to go to the local market. · Grilled cold noodles/fried skewers/corn porridge: The "holy trinity" of Yichun late-night snacks. Cheap and addictive. · Blueberries/bog bilberries/wild grapes: It's berry season in the Lesser Khingan Mountains. Buying frozen fruit is more reliable than buying candied ones. · Red sausage + Lieba bread: A Northeast mix of Russian flavors. Perfect with milk tea in the morning🥛 ⚠️ Yichun October travel tips (the "hard-learned" version) · Early October is fine, but leaves fall quickly once it gets cold in the second half of the month. The best window: Oct 5–Oct 20🌬 · The temperature difference between day and night is huge. It's 15°C during the day and 2°C at night. Don't believe the "a hoodie is enough for autumn" advice—bring a windbreaker + a thin down jacket to stay safe. · Cell signal in the forest area is spotty. Download offline maps before driving. Asking local forest workers for directions is more accurate than navigation. · Don't wear bright red at the deer park. The deer aren't afraid, but it makes your photos look tacky😅 · Don't chase the "same photo spots as everyone online." Any random village road in Yichun is more authentic than a staged photo spot. · Do not bring open flames into the primitive forest during fire prevention season. The forest rangers are very strict🔥 October in the Lesser Khingan Mountains isn't just a "list of attractions." It's the feeling of birch leaves falling on your shoulder as the river mist rolls in, and suddenly, you don't want to leave🍃 Slow down, and the forest will share its pine scent with you✨

Giving up on Yichun city center; Wuyiling Wetland is amazing — traveler post in Yichun

Giving up on Yichun city center; Wuyiling Wetland is amazing

I originally planned to dive into Yichun city center to check off popular scenic spots, but once I arrived, I decisively changed my itinerary. I didn't want to squeeze through crowds or pay inflated ticket prices, so I dove straight into Wuyiling Wetland and gained a whole expanse of quiet wilderness. This is what the Lesser Khingan Mountains should look like. I've put together a tested 3-day relaxed itinerary. No rushing, beginners can just copy this plan. 🗓️ 3-day slow travel itinerary | Focus on relaxing, no marathon sightseeing ▫️ Day 1: Head to the wetland, immersive stroll on the boardwalk Arrive in Wuyiling, no packed schedule. Walk slowly along the forest boardwalk. Marshes, meadows, birch trees, and red pines surround you. The only sounds are the wind and birds. If you're lucky, you might spot wild ducks or water birds flying over the water. Reach the end and climb the observation tower for a bird's-eye view of the entire wetland. The view is vast, with the entire meadow and lake in sight. After 4:00 PM, the light is softest, so sit and wait for the wetland sunset. The water reflects the glow, creating a perfect atmosphere. ▫️ Day 2: Light hiking nearby, slow life in the small town No need to run to distant scenic spots. You can take a casual walk in the forests around the town, duck into forest paths, and see the original appearance of the primitive forest. Avoid commercialized attractions, find a quiet corner to sit and zone out, and soak in the high negative oxygen ions of the forest area. In the evening, browse local shops, buy mountain goods, and eat authentic Northeast home-style dishes. ▫️ Day 3: Morning mist in the wetland, leisurely return If you're willing to get up early, go see the morning mist over the wetland. The thin mist drifting over the meadows creates an incredible atmosphere. Have a slow breakfast, no need to rush, take one last simple walk on the boardwalk, then pack up and head back. 🏨 Accommodation choices | Tips to avoid pitfalls ✅ Prioritize staying in hotels or inns in the Wuyiling town area It's convenient for dining and shopping, the drive to the wetland is short, and it's more cost-effective. ❌ Don't blindly stay in remote forest homestays. Some have basic facilities, temperatures are low at night, and heating conditions vary. 🚗 Transportation guide 📍 Long-distance travel: First arrive in Yichun, then transfer to a train or bus to Wuyiling. The green-skinned train through the forest is a great experience. ✅ Local travel: Self-driving or chartering a car is most comfortable; stop and explore as you please. Taxis in town are affordable. ❌ Mobile signal is weak on some forest roads. Download offline maps in advance and don't trust unlicensed taxis soliciting passengers on the side of the road. 🍲 Food | Local delicacies without the traps ✅ Try to avoid the entrances of scenic spots; choose restaurants in town that locals frequent. Must-try: Iron pot stew, wild mountain vegetables, mushroom stewed chicken, sauerkraut, and sticky bean buns. ⚠️ Be cautious about buying mountain goods promoted on the roadside near scenic spots; compare prices first. ⚠️ Heartfelt tips to avoid pitfalls, a hard-learned summary 🔖 🔹 Some sections of the wetland boardwalk are old and decaying, and slippery after rain. Be sure to wear non-slip flat shoes and do not step off the boardwalk into the marsh; it's very dangerous. 🔹 The temperature difference between day and night in the forest area is huge. It's warm during the day but very chilly in the morning and evening; bring a light jacket. Mosquitoes are extremely fierce. Be sure to have strong mosquito repellent. 🔹 There are almost no shops or kiosks in the wetland. Carry enough drinking water and some snacks or dry food with you. 🔹 Do not pick wild mushrooms or berries at will. If you don't recognize them, absolutely do not eat them to avoid poisoning. 🔹 Entering the core area of the nature reserve is prohibited. Follow management regulations and don't trust so-called "wild paths." 🔹 Try not to have excessive expectations about seeing animals. Spotting wildlife depends on luck. Keep a relaxed mindset. ✨ Final thoughts The beauty of Yichun isn't necessarily all packed into popular scenic spots. Wuyiling Wetland wins with its original, ecological quietness—vast meadows, lakes, and forests, with no noisy tourists, only the sound of the wind passing through the trees. You don't need to be obsessed with checking off every spot when traveling. Slow down to truly understand the Lesser Khingan Mountains.

Slow Travel in the Mountains and Forests Around Harbin | Jinlongshan – Songfengshan – Mao'ershan – Yabuli Wellness Guide

Harbin Surroundings | Route 3: Forest Wellness and Leisure Line (Acheng – Shangzhi) Travel Guide Destinations: Jinlongshan (Hengtou Mountain), Songfengshan, Acheng–Shangzhi countryside, Mao'ershan, Yabuli Forest Resort This wellness route from Acheng to Shangzhi connects the forest seas of the Lesser Khingan Range. It is perfect for travelers looking to escape the city bustle, breathe in fresh forest air, and enjoy light hiking for physical and mental healing. The experience is best in summer and autumn, with autumn's "five-flower mountain" colors being particularly spectacular. A self-driving trip is recommended for a relaxed pace without the need for high-intensity travel. Depart from downtown Harbin early in the morning and head to your first stop, Jinlongshan (Hengtou Mountain) National Forest Park. Arrive early to walk the mountain boardwalks while the morning mist still lingers. Spruce and larch trees are layered throughout, the forest air is rich in negative oxygen ions, mist wraps around the forest sea, and dew adorns the leaves. You can choose to walk slowly along the gentle wellness trails without needing to reach the summit, immersing yourself in a forest stroll and enjoying the tranquil atmosphere of the morning mountains. Afterward, drive to Songfengshan, where clear springs flow over mossy rocks in the valleys, and birch and red pine trees grow in clusters. Follow the valley trail, find a wooden platform in the mountains to sit quietly, experience forest bathing, and feel the forest breeze and dappled light. Songfengshan combines natural mountain forests with historical Taoist relics. If your energy is limited, you can just walk the gentle valley loop, avoiding strenuous climbing and focusing on leisure and wellness. In the afternoon, drive along the forest-edge road from Acheng toward Shangzhi. The route is filled with pastoral scenery, with rice paddies, villages, and shelterbelts unfolding one after another. You can pull over briefly to enjoy the view at any time or experience a short bike ride to feel the relaxation of the blend between forest and countryside. Arrive at Mao'ershan in the afternoon. Walk along the wooden hiking trail, moving slowly with the terrain. You can choose to turn back once you reach the viewing platform without needing to hike to the summit. Standing on the platform, you can overlook the main peak of Mao'ershan, the river valley, and the rolling mountains. The view is expansive, and the scent of the forest rushes toward you, making for a light hiking wellness experience. In the evening, head to Yabuli Forest Resort. In summer, the bustle of skiing fades away, turning it into a forest healing destination. Wooden cabins are scattered among the spruce trees. You can experience slow mountain biking or light yoga on the terrace, feeling the scent of pine needles and plants. As dusk falls, the silhouettes of wind turbines against the blue twilight are beautiful. After nightfall, the warm lights of the homestays turn on, and you can experience the forest hot springs, ending your day of wellness travel amidst the night scenery of the pine forest. 🍲 Food: Along the way, there are farmhouse restaurants in the towns. We recommend farmhouse stews, wild mountain vegetables, local farmhouse tofu, and coarse grain staples. The ingredients are common local home-style foods, prepared by standard restaurants with simple, authentic flavors. 💰 Cost Reference (Self-driving, one-day round trip excluding accommodation; two-day trip including homestay): One-day trip is about US$36–50 per person (including attraction tickets, fuel, and meals); two-day, one-night trip is about US$72–100 per person (including homestay accommodation and hot spring experience). ⚠️ Tips: There is a large temperature difference between day and night in the mountains, so bring a light jacket. Wear non-slip sports shoes for wellness hiking. There are many mosquitoes in the forest, so bring insect repellent. During the autumn "five-flower mountain" season, there are many tourists, so it is recommended to travel off-peak. Topics

Yichun's "Five-Flower Mountain" and the autumn colors of the Lesser Khingan Mountains — traveler post in Yichun

Yichun's "Five-Flower Mountain" and the autumn colors of the Lesser Khingan Mountains

How to spend your time in Yichun in October? This 3-day itinerary connects the Tangwanghe Stone Forest, Wuying Primitive Forest, and a relaxing city route. At an average cost of 1,300–2,000 yuan per person, it's perfect for those who love forests and "Five-Flower Mountain" scenery! 🚶‍♀️🍂 The bottom line: Go to Tangwanghe for unique landscapes 🌄 and Wuying for primitive Korean pine forests 🌲. They are 90 km apart, so you'll need to choose! If you're having trouble deciding, look here 👇 🌟 Why visit in October October is when Yichun's "Five-Flower Mountain" is at its most colorful—Korean pines, white birches, maples, and oaks mix on the hillsides, creating so many layers of color that your eyes won't know where to look 🎨✨ It's 10°C during the day and below freezing in the morning and evening, making it very comfortable for walking in the forest 🍃 Compared to the pure green of summer, the layers of autumn are truly much richer! You could say the autumn in the Lesser Khingan Mountains is a palette in itself 🎨 📍 Quick trip overview ✅ Suitable for: Forest lovers / photography enthusiasts / those looking to avoid crowds ✅ Recommended duration: 3 days, 2 nights | Physical intensity: Medium, mainly forest boardwalks ✅ Average cost: 1,300–2,000 yuan (excluding round-trip transportation) 🗺️ 3-day itinerary breakdown Day 1: Arrival + Stone Forest Morning: Depart from Harbin (approx. 2 hours by high-speed train to Yichun, or approx. 5 hours by car) 🚄 Afternoon: Tangwanghe Forest Sea and Stone Forest Scenic Area (108 yuan, located 9 km north of the Tangwanghe District tourist highway in Yichun; open May 1–Oct 7, 7:30 AM–5:00 PM; remember to enter before 4:30 PM ⏰). Granite stone forests paired with "Five-Flower Mountain" scenery make this a very unique spot in Yichun, perfect for photos 📸 Evening: Stay in Tangwanghe 🏨 Day 2: Forest Park Morning: Wuying National Forest Park (60 yuan, large area of primitive Korean pine forest, view the forest sea from the Guantao Tower—it's breathtaking 🤯; located 17 km north of the Wuying District tourist highway) Afternoon: Tianci Lake → Forest Train (30 yuan; Tianci Lake is inside Wuying National Forest Park in Fenglin County; open May–Oct, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM). The train is great for photos! 🚂 Evening: Stay in Yichun city center Day 3: Relaxing finish Morning: Shangganling Xishui Park (Free 💯) Afternoon: Yichun Wood Carving Park (Free) → Return to Harbin 🍜 Hidden gem food (where locals go) ① "Laoshanli" in Yichun city center for iron pot stewed frog: 90 yuan per person, an autumn seasonal special and the top choice for locals to "fatten up" for autumn! ② "Linqu Renjia" in Tangwanghe for wild mushroom stewed chicken: 65 yuan per person; the mushrooms are hazel mushrooms freshly picked by local mountain residents—delicious! 🤤 ③ "Chezhan Breakfast Shop" in Wuying Town for pickled cabbage buns: Only 8 yuan, a staple breakfast for local forestry workers, perfect with millet porridge! ⚠️ Mistakes I made ❌ The peak viewing period for "Five-Flower Mountain" is from late September to October 15. I went too late, and the leaves had fallen, leaving only gray branches... a painful lesson 😭 ❌ There are no buses between Tangwanghe and Wuying (about 90 km). Hiring a car costs 400–500 yuan per day. The first time I went, I almost got stranded in the town 🥲 ❌ Mosquitoes and ticks are still active in the forest. I wore shorts and got bitten all over my legs—long pants and long sleeves are a must! ❌ In October, it's 10°C during the day and -5°C in the morning and evening. A light jacket is not enough; a down jacket is the bare minimum 🧥 ❌ Many "wild blueberries" and "wild pine nuts" sold on the roadside are farmed goods, and the prices are tourist prices—don't impulse buy 💰 ❌ Signal is unstable between scenic spots, so remember to download offline maps in advance 📱 💰 Cost breakdown (per person) Tickets: Tangwanghe 108 + Wuying 60 + Train 30 = 198 yuan Transportation: Hired car 400–500 yuan/day Accommodation: 180–400 yuan/night Dining: 45–95 yuan/meal 3-day total: 1,300–2,000 yuan 💡 Practical tips ✨ Transportation: High-speed train from Harbin to Yichun takes about 2 hours; hiring a car is recommended between scenic spots ✨ Accommodation: Stay in Yichun city center (convenient transportation) or Tangwanghe (next to the scenic area) ✨ Clothing: Down jacket + hat and gloves; it really gets freezing in the morning and evening 🧤 ✨ Protection: Long pants and long sleeves for insect protection; forest boardwalks can be slippery, so watch your step ✨ Gear: Download offline maps in advance; signal is weak in some sections 📶 🙋 Want to hear your choice Tangwanghe Stone Forest vs. Wuying Forest Park—if you could only visit one, which would you choose? Tangwang River Linhai Qishishi Scenic Area

This summer, we visited Tangwanghe in Yichun. The Tangwanghe Scenic Area was truly relaxing; it's a wonderful place to escape the summer heat. We listened to the rustling of the pines in the forest, admired the quirky rocks, and lingered among the pigs in the woods, while the birch forest inspired endless daydreams.

Jinshan Deer Park

We arrived at the deer enclosure around 3 PM. Initially, we were worried that the deer, having been fed in the afternoon, wouldn't want to interact with us. However, once inside, we found the deer to be quite friendly. They enjoyed corn kernels, and whenever they sensed we were feeding them, other deer would come over and ask for food. One old deer even followed us all the way inside – quite amusing and intelligent. As the sun set, the entire meadow was bathed in golden light, creating a beautiful and photogenic scene.

Wuying National Forest Park

It's worth a visit. The place is large, so you can take your time exploring with your kids. The most amazing parts are the deer enclosure near the end in the afternoon and the lakeside area outside the visitor center – both are incredibly beautiful.

Shangganling Xishui National Forest Park

The park isn't large, but it's home to a high concentration of chipmunks, who are very friendly and will even come to your hand for food. The hiking trails are short; you can choose to walk along the boardwalk or take a sightseeing bus. It's suitable for families with elderly members and children.

Maolangou National Park

When it rains heavily, the water turns yellowish-brown. There are two routes for the tour, with a fork at a point where several shops are concentrated. The birch forest route perfectly avoids the crowds and leads directly to the main attractions, but the downside is that there's a section with hundreds of stairs to climb at the end. The other route starts from the forest itself and is less strenuous, but it's very crowded. When I went, the road was under construction, so I had to take a detour.

Dinosaur National Geology Park In Jiayin County

Driving to Jiayin Dinosaur National Geopark is a must-do. As one of the earliest places in China to discover dinosaur fossils, it boasts a rich historical heritage. The core Shenzhou Dinosaur Museum has a wealth of exhibits, including many complete dinosaur skeletons and various ancient fossils, offering a clear understanding of Cretaceous dinosaurs and providing significant educational value. The Longgushan excavation site preserves original strata and fossil traces, allowing visitors to experience an archaeological site up close. The valley features numerous lifelike giant dinosaur sculptures, and the forest trails offer a refreshing environment, perfect for escaping the summer heat. There are also interactive fossil digging simulation projects, which are great for children around 10 years old. The park's sightseeing bus saves walking energy, and free parking is available outside the gate for vehicles. The only drawback is the limited outdoor dining options; it's recommended to bring your own drinks and snacks. Overall, the park focuses on fossil education and is a great place to visit while exploring Jiayin, especially recommended for families with children.

Jinzufeng Scenic Area

Jinzu Peak was so beautiful, it brought my travel experience to its peak. I started climbing at 3 a.m. and saw the sunrise, as well as the sea of clouds, the golden mountain, and the colorful mountains. Although there were many people, it did not affect my enjoyment of the scenery. In short, it was an unforgettable experience, and I hope to come back again in the future.

Jiufeng Mountain Yangxin Valley Tourist Resort

Jiufeng Mountain Yangxin Valley, a famous 4A-level scenic spot in Yichun, boasts both mountains and water, and visitors who have visited rave about its beauty. As usual, you'll first take an electric car ride upon entering. 1. The animal area boasts many large animals, especially black bears, which are robust and active, making them a great place to see. 2. The colorful dry slide, while seemingly simple, is incredibly thrilling. The exhilarating experience of sliding down the slide is quite relaxing. 3. The Nature Education Center, more like a small zoo, offers visitors to see parrots, snakes, crocodiles, and other animals, serving as a welcome addition. 4. The Dafeng River water play area is perhaps my favorite part of the entire scenic area, and it's also free. A small man-made waterfall allows you to experience the impact of the Dafeng River's waters, making it a great spot for summer water play. Overall, this scenic spot is highly recommended, with a roughly equal mix of natural and man-made features. It's quite enjoyable, but aside from the Dafeng River water play, there's not much else to offer. Horseback riding, camping, or the glass plank road are simply unappealing. Another complaint about the battery car in the scenic area is that the end point is about 400 meters from the exit, and in the middle you have to cross a food street of about 100 meters. I can understand the arrangement of the merchant, but I don't accept it. Walking 400 meters out of the scenic area on a sunny day is too cruel, bad review!

Xinqing National Wetland Park

The most satisfying part of the trip was Xinqing Wetland, which was truly unexpected. The crane release ceremony was unremarkable, but the yellow autumn grass, the distant trees, and the blue sky resembled a Van Gogh painting.

Yichun Xing'an National Forest Park

This forest park truly is a national forest park. It's located within the city, yet it offers a wealth of greenery and beautiful scenery. Many people get up early to collect some spring water. I, however, just strolled around at the bottom because it was so cold I really didn't want to go up.
