Excellent location, great seaviews with beach access. Welcoming staff always available to help. Handy to Viva food market and a convenience store situated on the ground level.
The pool view is magnificent and well maintained ” the water is a bit chilly as it is mostly shaded”.
Filtered water in your room and very large comfortable rooms. Make this an excellent choice.
10/10 for my stay at ParkRoyal Penang Resort. This stay was a birthday gift for my 73-year-old husband. Thanks to ParkRoyal for the complimentary birthday cake which pleasantly surprised and delighted him. Overall service here was first class. It was from the warm and cheerful bell-hop Yusani to the helpful and thoughtful Asvathy at Check-in Reception, Transportation and Sight-seeing thoughtful and caring Angeline, Diligent Housekeeping Ali to thev cheerful Chanond who sent the birthday cake to our room…and also staff at Cinnamon and Javana Lounge. They all are pleasant and polite. They served with a smile and made us feel welcome all the time. Truly appreciated the warmth and hospitality of this hotel. The breakfast at Cinnamon was impressive, sumptuous and came with a wide variety of choices. We enjoyed our 2 breakfast thoroughly. So, we were happy and glad to have booked our room with breakfast.. There is also a Welcome drink with cookies at Javana Lounge. It was, indeed. a great start to our stay. It should be offered to all guests checking-in. For guests who would like sipping cocktaile by the beach or at Javana Lounge, there is a 20% discount for room-booking with Trip.com. We, indeed, had a pleasant, memorable and enjoyable stay at ParkRoyal. Would be back someday for more birthday stay here in future.
I just stayed for one night. Which was enough for me.
Be aware this is not part of the official Rainbow Resort Hotel. Upon seeing my confirmation, the receptionist told me my room was an Airbnb. The building is a hotel as well private rooms that are rented out.
The room itself was very spacious, 70 sqm with one bedroom and a living space. It had obviously been repainted recently (it smelt a fresh paint) so the walls were clean. Air conditioning and basic amenities were provided.
The building itself, has seen a lot of wear and tear. If you’re on a budget and want a spacious room it will meet your needs.
For the price I think it’s quite reasonable if you’re there for a short stay.
The hotel is next to a beach, and a swimming pool downstairs. There a few restaurants across the road.
Rooms is clean and spacious and sound proofing is good. We have a good night rest as thebbed is comfortable. Shower water pressure is good. Can have a good shower after a whole day work. Location is good for traveller too. Nearby have lots of eatery shops and walking distance to many places.
I booked a sea-view room right next to Gurney Drive. It was convenient to grab a meal downstairs, and the breakfast was excellent. The pool is on the second floor and open until 8 PM, but it gets no sun after 4 PM. A dip in the pool was perfect for unwinding after a long day of sightseeing. The service was superb and very attentive.
The resort has a modern design and I was pleased with the level of service provided by the staff, who were consistently polite and helpful. In particular, I would like to commend the Indian bellboy for his excellent attitude and professionalism.
However, there were several areas that could be improved. The room carpet had visible stains, the in-room AI device was not functioning, and the TV channel selection was very limited, especially the absence of sports channels.
During breakfast, the food variety was limited and did not reflect local cuisine, with no roti canai or teh tarik offered. Additionally, bihun goreng ran out early and was replaced with maggie goreng. There was also a lack of staff presence and signage at the breakfast area, which caused some confusion for guests.
My bedroom wad super noisy, next to a road, I could hear the trafic all day long. It was better during the night.
The management gave me a quiet bedroom me for my second night as it was full for the first night.
The court was dirty but they sent someone to clean it, change the bedsheet with stains and repair the broken tap.
The bottles of shower soap are tricky as the straw is too short.
The bathroom can be locked from outside as you can see on pictures.
There are 2 marts next door, thai food and rôti stall. The bedroom doesn't look like the pictures I saw on the page.
The location was excellent — just steps away from the beach, making it perfect for a relaxing getaway, especially during the festive season
The breakfast selection was fairly good, with both local and simple Western choices. However, during peak hours it felt a bit crowded and some items ran out before being refilled quickly.
The staff were generally friendly, though service speed could be improved at times.
The room was comfortable enough for a short stay, but certain areas showed signs of wear and could use upgrading.
Overall, it’s acceptable for the price, but with some improvements in service consistency and breakfast management, the experience could be better
Lots of great things to say here. After spending a good amount of time in the main city Penang, this hotel in Batu Feringghi was a well deserved and almost dream-like escape that provided my lovely companion and I not only a chance to reset but it gave us the most romantic beach experience in all of Malaysia.
The hotel itself is nestled on a clifftop overlooking the wonderful and vibrant Malaysian beach and is walking distance not only to great restaurants and shops but also to many beach and water activities. I highly recommend having a dinner on the beach and watching the fire show before retreating back to the comfort of this hotel.
The hotel campus is nicely laid out with a gleaming downstairs entrance area that made us feel like we were in comfortable luxury from the first moment there. Our views from the room were spectacular and the room itself was quiet and peaceful. The staff went out of their way to make us feel at home and the on site amenities (spa and pool) were all above and beyond all our expectations. This was a perfect getaway trip and an excellent chance to see another side of beautiful Penang.
I was upgraded to a Deluxe room but it was at the extreme corner next to the service staircase. Grateful for the upgraded but the room conditions were not up to par . Hair in shower room , the shower holder fell when I was taking it out and it dropped on my toe . Hence the blue black toe shown ( hehe ) . I could not sleep the whole night as the air con was very very noisy even when I lower the adjustment. The day curtain was torn . I sound it out to reception the next morning to see whether they can change my room as I was staying for another 2 nights . They did and I reckoned it was another up grade as now the room has a standing shower room . In the other previous room , you have to stand in the bath tub to shower and for a man of 65 , it is a bit tricky . The hotel really needs an up grade too . It is in a good location and CAT bus is nearby . The CAT shuttle is a complimentary bus that moves around the town area .
The saving grace for my trip was that the staff was up to par and reacted quickly . Well done on this .
Now , I wait for my toe to heal .
Very Good

RRayTFirst of all the hotel rented out the rooms for individual operator.
So there will be different check in counter.
Upon check in, been told that the room card not functioning as they are doing upgrading, so every time u come back will need to call the house keeping to unlock the door.
Most importantly they charge RM 17 per night for car parking. So a lot of car parking outside which make the entrance a bit difficult

TTini88We were a bit nervous after reading the reviews online but we had a really excellent stay. The rooms were super clean and modern with a beautiful sea view and the bed was really comfortable. The rooms had a kettle with teas, a hairdryer and iron and the shower was lovely and hot. Great AC too. The pool was lovely with a beautiful view of the sea and very nice and peaceful. The location was also great with a huge food market right opposite. Overall a really lovely stay
LLoher RomanThe place was packed … lots of noisy adults and their kids !
We paid good money to have a terrible nights sleep with a large gathering of revellers partying until 3.30 am
And then at sunrise a group of laud teenagers playing waterpolo in the pool in front or our Room
The breakfast was disappointing lukewarm and mainly caters for Asian tastes !
Keep away from this Hotel on weekends and festive days
AAriessssWe were looking for a hotel near Escape Theme Park, and this hotel was recommended on Trip.com when I searched for a room with a bathtub. The price was reasonable and the location is very convenient, only about 10 minutes away from Escape Theme Park.
When we checked in, we were impressed by the beautiful view and the comfortable room. The breakfast was excellent with good variety, and the staff were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay.
Overall, it was a very pleasant experience and we would definitely stay here again. Hope to visit again in the future!

AAnonymous UserThe hotel's location is excellent. There's a mall right downstairs, making shopping and dining super convenient. It's also close to other tourist attractions, and getting a taxi is quick and easy! We even ran into Chinese celebrity Huang Xiaoming and others promoting a movie at Gurney Plaza during our stay.
GGuest UserWe fell in love with this hotel during our first stay last year, and this is now our second visit. We really appreciate the ambience, and the room is spacious with a stunning view, even though it does not face the sea.
The only area for improvement would be the food. We ordered several items via room service, and unfortunately, the taste was quite bland and not quite up to hotel standards. We also requested cut chillies and had to wait a long time. When we followed up, the response from the restaurant was simply, “Do you want us to send them now?”, which was a bit disappointing.
Overall, we still enjoy the stay, but the dining experience could certainly be improved.
GGuest UserI found out about this hotel, part of the Marriott brand, through the TV show 'Outbound Love'. It has a colonial Nanyang style, and while it's not a huge property, it's very refined. The suite has a separate room with a double bed. The pool is clean and there's a kids' pool too. Overall, the room was clean and the bedding was tidy. The breakfast isn't super extensive, but the rice noodles and Teh Tarik (pulled tea) were excellent. There was a welcome drink, and the service was warm and attentive, though I had trouble getting through to housekeeping by phone. The beach isn't owned by the hotel, and while there are boats, it's not ideal for swimming. The area around is very convenient with food options and a supermarket. The Shangri-La is right next door, and there's a mosque nearby, so you can hear the prayers clearly. My room faced the street, and I could hear motorcycles at night.
PPangxiaoJoFirst, the basic hotel info: it's a 40-minute drive from the old town. We've stayed at many 'Roc' brand hotels before, but this one was surprisingly small. Also, there are no shows or performances on weekdays.
Regarding cleanliness, our room faced the pool, which made it quite noisy. If you prefer quiet, you might want to request a room on the other side.
Now, breakfast. It was still 'Roc' style, but there really wasn't much to eat. We booked a three-day, two-night stay, and on our second morning, we were told breakfast wasn't included. This was absolutely ridiculous! The hotel's front desk had already confirmed it was included, yet the restaurant staff insisted it wasn't. They kept making us reconfirm and even took photos. Couldn't they just check with the front desk themselves? This lack of attention to detail was really disappointing.
