Having lived in Japan for over ten years, I have to commend this hotel. It far exceeded my expectations. 1. Right outside the door is the largest local bus terminal, making it incredibly convenient to get to the airport, Aso, Amakusa, and Fukuoka. 2. The price is half or even less than half of surrounding hotels. I originally had no expectations, thinking it would just be a cheap place to crash. 3. While the hallway decor looks a bit dated, it perfectly aligns with the MUJI団地 (housing complex) design philosophy. You even use a traditional key to open the door. 4. Although the room has an old-style Japanese business hotel decor, it's exceptionally clean and very spacious. The room design is well-thought-out, making it comfortable and secure to use. 5. Both check-in and check-out at the front desk were handled with meticulous care and polite, professional service. This is something even much more expensive hotels I've stayed at elsewhere often fail to deliver. 6. I stayed here for five consecutive nights and had a great experience. I would definitely choose this hotel again for future family trips.

As the first stop of my birthday trip, I chose Aso. Having previously worked as a hotel management professional, I had high expectations for the hotel’s facilities and services. My stay at Kakuman Hotel, along with my traveling companions, was thoroughly enjoyable—from check-in to the overall amenities, everything exceeded our satisfaction. The staff we encountered were exceptionally friendly, whether at the front desk or in the restaurant. Additionally, experiencing hot springs for the first time left us feeling deeply relaxed. Thank you to Kakuman Hotel for adding color to my journey.🙏🏼 While every aspect was highly satisfying, there was a minor shortcoming: the majority of diners in the restaurant were Korean tourists. On my second night, a small incident occurred during dinner. The server assigned me a seat where only tableware and a departure-time notice were placed. After I retrieved my food, I found three Korean guests (two elderly individuals and a middle-aged man) preparing to sit there. I was confused whether I had taken the wrong seat or if there was another reason, so I asked the guests. Unexpectedly, the man loudly called over the female server who had arranged the seat and sharply questioned her in Japanese. The server later found me the correct seat, which was at the table adjacent to the three guests. I felt deeply sorry for the female server being unjustly scolded, and I also did not understand why the Korean man needed to accuse her in such a loud tone—I would have been happy to apologize for my misunderstanding. Regarding the above incident, I would like to offer a suggestion: the tables in the restaurant are each equipped with a bucket of tableware and wet wipes, but there are no numbers or markers to identify the assigned seats. Guests can only rely on placing their own items or memory to remember their seats. I believe I am not the only one who has encountered a similar issue, and the hotel may consider adding markers to each table to make it easier for guests to recognize their assigned seats.

Because my bookings were split, my second reservation was for a superior room instead of a deluxe room. However, since it was on a higher floor, the bathroom odor was gone. The room was slightly smaller than the deluxe, but still acceptable. So, I'd recommend trying to get a high-floor room if possible. The parking lot near the hotel is excellent, costing 1200 yen from 3 PM until 11 AM the next day. You can ask the hotel for a discount coupon. When checking out, insert the parking ticket first to calculate the fee, then insert the discount coupon, and finally pay with cash. The ramen shop across from the hotel is quite good too.

I was very satisfied with this hotel. The location is excellent, with countless delicious food options nearby, and the environment is very pleasant. It's perfect for family trips or business travel. I will definitely choose this hotel again next time I visit Japan.

Our ryokan stay was overall a really enjoyable experience. The room and view were amazing, we booked one of the newly built room types, which leaned more towards a modern Western-style design while still keeping the ryokan atmosphere. The room was beautiful, and comfortable. Amenities were thoughtfully provided, and we were pleasantly surprised by the complimentary minibar with a variety of drinks, crafted drip coffee bags, and even in-room draft beer, which was a huge plus for us. The meals exceeded our expectations as well. Portions were very generous and everything we had was goo, making both dinner and breakfast a highlight of the stay. The in-room onsen did have a slightly unusual smell, which is probably due to the natural mineral content of the hot spring water, though it may take some getting used to. The main downside, which we were already aware of before booking, was the location. The ryokan is about 30–40 minutes from Kurokawa Onsen Village, and there is only one shuttle service timing per day. This made our schedule quite restricted, so it would be much better if they could offer more shuttle time options for guests. As for the service, the staff were generally friendly and helpful despite the language barrier. Only one of the staff members spoke English clearly enough for easy communication, but everyone still tried their best to assist us.

Really nice place to stay in, exclusive experience, you don’t really need to do any onsen hoping if you stay here, one private onsen booking per day which means 2 booking for one night stay and you have got guest only public onsen which alternate each day. They were kind enough to accommodate our vegetarian diet even though they weren’t too happy about that because they had to change their whole menu, so I would suggest checking with them before making the booking. Overall, definitely worth it.

This hotel is super luxurious and incredibly close to the train station, literally a one-minute walk. We stayed in a luxury suite, which came with complimentary cocktails. There's a bartender on the first floor to mix drinks for you, and on the fourth floor, you can mix your own. The fourth floor also has plenty of instant noodles, nuts, and more. The bathroom and shower are separate (wet/dry design), and there's even a small room where insomniacs can watch movies. It has two large beds, plus a sofa bed that can also be made up with bedding.

I had an absolutely wonderful stay at this hotel and couldn't wait to share my experience. I highly recommend it! From the moment I stepped into the lobby, I could feel the thoughtfulness and care put into every detail. The front desk staff were warm and welcoming, and the check-in process was quick and efficient. They even took the time to introduce the hotel facilities and recommend great local restaurants, which made me feel right at home. The room was clean, tidy, and elegantly decorated. The bedding was soft and comfortable, and I enjoyed a perfect night's sleep. The bathroom had a separate wet and dry area, and the toiletries were of excellent quality, every detail showed genuine care. The view from the window was lovely, and opening the curtains in the morning to let the sunlight in was truly refreshing. The breakfast offered a wide variety of options, both Western and Chinese, all fresh and delicious. The public areas were quiet and comfortable, perfect for both relaxing and getting work done. The location was also very convenient, easy access to transportation, shopping, and dining What impressed me most was the service. Every staff member was warm, courteous, and always ready to help, making the experience truly feel like a home away from home. Whether for business or leisure, this hotel is an excellent choice. I will definitely be back, and I sincerely recommend it to anyone looking for a high-quality stay. A well-deserved five-star review!

The front desk service was excellent! They had a great selection of complimentary amenities. The free seaweed soup was delicious, and the room even had a refrigerator. Plus, it's only a three-minute walk to Sakuramachi Shopping Arcade.

The room's cleanliness was neither great nor terrible 😄. The dinner was a buffet. The server gave my family three reservation times: 6:00, 6:30, and 7:00. We were told we had 1.5 hours to dine. We chose the 7:00 slot. The buffet food and alcoholic beverages were very different from what was advertised online. After 8:00, I started feeling like we were being rushed out 🥲. Wasn't it supposed to be an all-you-can-eat for 1.5 hours? We left at 8:15. Good thing we bought a bunch of food and drinks at lunchtime. The large public bath and hot spring facilities were decent. The breakfast buffet seemed much better than dinner. One experience was enough 😅.
