The hotel is quite clean, bright and spacious. The location is excellent, many hawker nearby, closed to seven eleven and KK Mart, walking distance to Kek Lo Shi Temple, market also nearby.
The downside is the housekeeping. The clean the room once in two days, they didn't vacuum the carpet and they clean the room at around 2 or 3 pm, which is our time for resting.
The hotel looks a little old, but everything is really well maintained and clean. The facilities are great, especially the gym. It’s fully equipped with dumbbells, barbells and all kinds of machines for different workouts. There’s also a sauna, steam room and hot and cold jacuzzis, all in good working condition.
The location is perfect, right along Gurney Drive. Get a sea view room if you can because the view is amazing whether it’s sunrise or sunset. It’s also super convenient with Gurney Plaza and Gurney Paragon just a short walk away, and plenty of food options nearby. Taking a Grab to town takes only about 10 minutes.
Breakfast was really good too. There’s a wide mix of local and international dishes that change daily, plus an egg and roti canai station where you can order fresh.
Service was okay, though the staff weren’t as warm as I expected from a five star hotel. Overall, it was a comfortable stay in a great location with solid facilities and food.
Staffs were friendly and helpful. Able to get corner room with good Komtar tower and sea view. Check-in/out process was done fast and smoothly, no deposit collected. Room very spacious, comfortable king bed and 4 big pillow provided. Location is in main road to many attractions and local restaurants and free city bus stop no. 7 just in front of the hotel. Breakfast was splendid with very good variety of local, Chinese and Japanese meals. Really recommended!
The hotel is great, staff are impeccable in their attentiveness to the guest. Room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Breakfast buffet was absolutely outstanding, with an abundance of choices catered to satisfy every taste. The pool and gym are also fantastic, with the added convenience of being open 24/7, to put in an early morning workout. Spacious and very well equipped and maintained.
However, our stay was not without faults and there are definitely some things management needs to address:
- the noise from the elevator automatic announcements is absurd! the ”doors opening/closing” alerts are constant and audible from neighboring floors as well as your own.If you stay in a room numbered xx15 or xx16, be advised you will not have a pleasant time - we asked to change rooms immediately as soon as we realized this.
- elevators can be SLOW, magma slow. it can take a long time to move around if you are staying in a higher floor. We stayed for 2 nights and during that period 2 separate elevators were down for maintenance. It took us a total of 15 minutes to move from one floor to the other, after getting our room changed (for reasons stated above) and new keycards.
- the level from street noise audible in the room is just inadmissible at a supposed 5-star hotel level, at least in the rooms facing the main road. These rooms have, inexplicably, a single pane of glass and very tall windows, which makes soundproofing pretty much nonexistent - mat rempit bikes racing in the dead of night, the call to prayer blasting from the loudspeakers of the mosque nearby before 6am, drilling from the construction site nearby, and other nuisances that definitely disturbed my sleep.
The hotel location isn’t that great but it’s still within the city area. Front desk service is good. We book just for a night to try out and see if we can book again the next round but the experience wasn’t that good and will give this hotel a missed next time.
We’re given a no window in the middle of the hotel room with not much space and not much amenities and no slippers for within the room use. We won’t know if there’s a fire broke out when the alarm or the water sprinkler malfunction.
The rack in the toilet was directly above the toilet seat even when there’s ample space to place in the toilet as it was spacious inside. Too little hanger and place to hang for a family room.
Love it love it love it. I got a view to kill for. The service is great, check in was smooth, the staffs are friendly and professional. It’s a central area so main tourist attraction like Chulia street, Hin Bus Depot, Chew Jetty are walkable distance. I walk alone in midnight from chulia street and it’s pretty safe. Shopping malls are near by so can easily access. Breakfast was good. But I think the pool area can be improved to look lively. It’s pretty dull so I didn’t even go for swimming. Over all, this is definitely the place I will recommend and will stay again next time.
Hotel room js clean and friendly reception as well as security guard. I was very tired coming down from Hatyai (flood zone). The staff allow me to check in earlier. Appreciate that.
Bed is comfortable and ac is cold. The only negative part is the Ac is quite noisy when it’s at night. Drumming sound from the aircon vent.
Many eateries nearby also 2 shopping (Gama and 1st Avenue) are nearby
Overall is a comfortable hotel to stay.
The hotel was located in a very strategic location (right above the Comtar Terminal), which you can access lots of bus routes from here. The facilities quite perfect which you can enjoy the pool, gym, and also the public area. However, the deluxe room, compared to another deluxe room in other hotel, is quite small, but the amenities, bed, chair, and table are great. Connecting room is also available on deluxe.
Everything is good except the service provided by the hotel front desk Chinese woman. She totally not suitable to work in hotel line as she is not customer oriented at all.
1. She pretended didn’t hear me talking to her asking if I can place my luggage at the hotel or if I can make early check in. She with the EXTREMELY RUDE MANNER, ask me to refer to the security guard and insisted do not have room available for early check in (even though that time is about 3pm) She don’t even want to look at the hotel guest’s face while talking to them.
2. On the next morning, when I approached her again to complaint on the noise from the lift opposite my room; she again repeated her IGNORANCE ATTITUDE. What I can see is she attempted to use her ignorance attitude to push all the guest request or enquiries to her colleague.
The mentioned front desk Chinese woman whom represents the hotel image; totally should be removed for continuing spoiling the hotel brand with her RUDE attitude.
Overall this hotel deserves for 5 stars rating however 2 stars remove due to this front desk Chinese woman’s unprofessionalism . (Her name tag is with 3 words Chinese name) and I think is the only Chinese staff of this hotel.
This hotel location is very strategic, room size acceptable for the price paid, hotel staff (Front desk a Malay guy, an Indian girl, a Malay lady and the Security guard) are helpful and friendly.
We have not been to Penang since 2021 and this is our 1st time at this hotel. Glad to say that , Berjaya Hotel Penang exceeds our expectation.
We stayed at 24th floor - the room was quite spacious & the best thing was the view. Love it. The room also clean & shower was good & toilet is clean as well.
Breakfast also was good. Not too many choice but adequate.

JJohnsonYeohGreat service from the reception, especially Mr. Sri
Restaurants, Chulia streets where most pubs are located are all within walking distance.
A bit tricky to find the hotel carpark as the entrance is under a shop house pillar with BIG word Honda at the side wall
Recommend to walk to Red garden food court, nice food and vibes with performance
GGuest UserStrongly recommend Sunway Georgetown. Tho 31 yr old, extremely well maintained, at least for my room. Location 5*. Just outside hotel bustling with activities n street food stalls in evening. Walking distance to Macalister Road, again bustling with plenty food choices/shops. I can’t find even 1 negative aspect of hotel! Staff very friendly n helpful. The shower water pressure was very strong, can aqua massage. The young male housekeeper always smiling. Also strongly recommend must visit, Kirishima Japanese resto in the lobby of Cittitel Hotel. For hotel setting, n qualify of food, esp sashimi air flown from Japan, can’t get this price n qualify in Singapore! So good that we went twice. Even their Otoro n chuotoro, charged by per piece or set of 5 thick cuts, not think slices, was value for $! Look for the manageress Jane Tan, a gem n star of the resto! Another must visit for morning snacks n kopi, Moh Teng Peow Nonya kueh. Very authentic n traditional setting. Kuehs are handmade in-house! Wonderful experience! The only negative is Penang island itself! Quite dead town, not much changes in tourist attractions from 30 yr ago. Penang hill, khek lok si temple, chawrasta morning market, Armenian street, Cornwall fort. Used to be popular komtar mall, even newer parangin mall are deserted with most shops shuttered! There are many old charm colonial buildings. Most McDonald’s are housed in such colonial buildings. Penangites are generally very friendly. We happen to be here during durian season. Macalister Road n even outside hotel are lined with durian stalls. Relatively much cheaper than in Singapore n I m talking about the AAA grade mao san wang cultivar. Fooding n bingeing is apt for Penang, not touristy spots tho, esp if u have been here before, even long ago. Attached pictures show day n nite views from same angle in the room.

SsnowcatThe E&O Hotel was definitely the highlight of my trip to Malaysia! Highly recommended! This 140-year-old heritage hotel is one of the world's three grand old hotels. Its architecture boasts strong British colonial characteristics, and the interiors are incredibly luxurious, adorned with numerous antique furnishings and artworks. Many world-renowned figures have stayed here. Every corner offers a picturesque photo opportunity, no filters needed! I recommend staying in the Legacy Wing to enjoy more exclusive hotel perks, such as the benefits listed in the last picture that we enjoyed during our three-day stay (the hotel even complimentary a bottle of nice red wine!).
Exploring the hotel itself each day was a delight, saving us from having to venture out in the scorching sun to find attractions. Three days wasn't nearly enough. The staff were all wonderful, and the hotel guests included many elderly Caucasian tourists from Europe and America, as well as many Chinese travelers like us, visiting during Golden Week. The staff were always smiling and treated everyone equally, regardless of their nationality. The breakfast selection was extensive; we tried breakfast at three different restaurants, each with its own unique charm, accompanied by beautiful scenery and antique furniture – very satisfying! 👍 The hotel has two pools: one on the ground floor by the sea, and another infinity pool on the 6th floor. Both are stunning. There were often many Chinese women taking photos by the pool, but not actually swimming, which left me plenty of space. I even learned how to breaststroke in just three days, haha!
The hotel is located in George Town, surrounded by the old colonial buildings of the old quarter, which are definitely worth seeing. Nearby attractions include the Pinang Peranakan Mansion (also known as the Nyonya Museum) and the Clan Jetties. If you're going to Penang, you absolutely must stay at this hotel!
HHongBaoWe have stayed in this hotel for 3 times in 4 years. The hotel hospitality and service make us feel like home-coming everytime. Special shoutout to Michelle from the front desk for her complimentary upgrade given for our birthday and anniversary celebration. Lastly thanks to Rubel from the housekeeping team for always checking on us if we need any turn down service. Never regret to choose this hotel as our preferred stay place whenever we come to Penang.

JJN768The PARKROYAL Penang Resort is highly rated, especially as a family-friendly, beachfront destination in Batu Ferringhi, praised for its excellent service and direct access to the beach. Guests consistently highlight the resort's great pool areas—including the Amazonia Splash water park—and the diverse, delicious breakfast offerings. While some older rooms might show minor wear or have noisy A/C units, the location is excellent, placing guests within walking distance of the famous Batu Feringghi Night Market.
GGuest UserThe location of this hotel is superb. Most of the attractions places are within walking distance. With lots of eateries around.
However, the hotel may needs to improve on their amenities such as the towels provided, the air con and housekeeping. I am very suprise that I was provided with towels that are badly torn and on most days it the towels seems used and old.
The hair dryer given also has some electrical problem and was arching which was a bit dangerous. But the hotel staff manage to change it after verifying that the hair dryer given is indeed spoil.
Overall, the only plus point are staffs who are very friendly and try to make sure we are comfortable and the location of the hotel.
11362171****Facilities: The internal facilities are great. It's close to the sea, and right behind the hotel, there's a coastal garden that's perfect for photos 📷. Inside, there are historical display corridors and some old Nanyang artifacts, which make for excellent photo opportunities.
Hygiene: The hygiene is impeccable.
Environment: The entire hotel is beautiful.
Service: The service is very mediocre. There's a noticeable difference in how they treat Chinese guests versus Caucasians. They even forgot to put bath towels in the room, and they didn't seem to have any apology for it. Breakfast was quite crowded with a good variety, but the taste was just okay. I even tipped, and they seemed to disdain it for being too little; I might as well not have bothered.
