Last week we spent three nights at The Crown Inn, Alvediston and enjoyed all the charm and quaintness of this delightful 17th Century thatched pub and B&B. Our hosts, Steve and Gloria, were very welcoming and they looked after us as if we were old friends. We ate at the pub all three evenings and the food was very good in terms of quality, quantity and price. If you are looking for a good pub in a quiet location with great hosts, this is the one to book. Thank you Steve and Gloria, - we will be booking return visits in the future.

We have just spent a wonderful three days at the Crown. This place is everything a rural Pub/B&B should be, charming and helpful hosts, honest, tasty pub food, an amazing setting in stunning countryside, comfortable, clean and well presented rooms and well kept beer. If anything thing else we’re needed, Gloria’s room of vintage collectibles is an added attraction and the opportunity to take a memory away with you. We loved our quiet and peaceful three days at the Crown and will be back very soon.

My Wife and I recently had the pleasure of staying three nights at the wonderful Crown Inn, in Alvediston, Wiltshire. This was our second visit to this fabulous pub / bed and breakfast, our first stay being in the spring of 2018. We would have returned sooner but what with COVID and a few other issues, this was not possible. Following our initial stay, we posted a full and detailed review offering our personal views of this fabulous place and it’s owners, Glo and Steve and those comments still stand. The main change since our earlier visit is the opening up of the bar. Serving a selection of beers, wines, spirits, etc, and offering traditional meals, no fancy thrills, just honest to goodness food. This really is, the icing on the cake. So, if anyone is looking to spend time away in a beautiful Inn, in the middle of nowhere surrounded by amazing countryside, or just wanting a drink and something to eat, the Crown is the place to visit. We could not sign off without saying a personal thank you to Glo and Steve for allowing us to share their lovely home for a few days and for their overall kindness and attentiveness during our time with them. Best wishes to all at the Crown and good luck for the future. We will be retuning in the not too distant future. Chris & Mim Briggs.

What an amazing hidden gem of a pub this is, set in a nook between rolling downland in a tiny hamlet. It's everything a traditional English pub should be, log fires, low ceilings with oak beams, great straightforward pub food served with smile by mine host and hostess, good beer, a very friendly black cat curled up on a chair, and even a den at the rear full of antiques and curios for sale. It's right off the beaten track and that's part of its charm. We had a very tasty and filling Sunday roast there and I can't wait to go back there again. Thank you, Steve and Gloria, for making our visit so enjoyable

We took two friends and their little dog with us to this quaint country pub, which we found was very friendly with a homely and welcoming log fire to combat a chilly Sunday. A bit off the beaten track but WORTH THE FIND. One previous visit for a music night and drinks. However, first visit for food which was delicious. Price was no more than I have paid before in other establishments and the quality of the food was first class. Excellent sized portions and very freshly sourced ingredients which was cooked to perfection. Will certainly visit again for another music night and food. Looking at the outside tables and layout, it would be lovely on a summer evening to have something to eat and a cool drink. There is also the vintage and various room to have a look at, with lots of lovely things to buy. Like the dog friendly aspect. Lastly we didn’t see the bedrooms where visitors can stay, but if they are anything like the rest, I’m sure they would be very welcoming. Thank you Gloria and Steve, you were perfect hosts and wholeheartedly give you and your wonderful establishment a 5***** recommendation.

Stayed one night in this lovely thatched inn with rooms for the Chalke Valley history festival. A great place to stay for a weekend break from the city. The breakfast was fantastic. Welcoming and friendly staff. We would definitely return.
