This was the most beautiful Ryokan we’ve ever stayed in. Wonderful hosts, beautiful rooms, amazing food, lovely Onsen and absolutely stunning walks in the hills and mountains around. Thanks to our wonderful hosts!

長野県の有名な別所温泉の近く、田沢温泉にある明治時代に建てられた「国の登録有形文化財」という貴重な宿。ややボロ感ありますが、さすがの趣と雰囲気があります。 お風呂は源泉かけ流し、露天風呂や貸し切りもあって素晴らしい。料理も悪くないです。以前は宿泊料がもっと安かった気がしますが、今くらいの料金にしてこれまで以上にきちんと管理された方が良いと思います。建物は大きいですが、小規模経営のため（それはそれで良さがあります）泊まる側の理解も必要です。好きな方はきっと楽しめると思います。

A very lovely experience in a very authentic Ryokan. Staff are very nice and friendly. Breakfasts and dinners are truly authentic Japanese fare. Would love to visit again!

電話で，トイレ付きの部屋を予約したら，藤村の間になっていた。 部屋に入ると，あちこち，床は傾き，障子，窓も傾き，窓には，１cm以上すき間があるところもある。 なぜか，すぐ慣れた。 かつては，金がかけられた造りのようで，オンボロながらも，見ていて飽きない。 wi-fi は，部屋まで入る。 藤村については，共産党員の人が，“夜明け前” を勧めていたことがあるぐらいで，共産主義者を除けば，あまり藤村好きの人はいないのではないか？ 藤村の間が，宿で一番オンボロ (東館) のようだが，有形文化財となっている宿全体も，やはりボロい。 ドアや電気配線など，妙に金がかけられてない部分が目につくが，自前の改修なのだろうか？ 改修，清掃と，巨大なこの宿を維持管理するのは，たいへんだろう。 風呂は，ふつうの造りで，快適なぬる湯だ。夜は10時までで，朝は明るくなってから入れる。 料理は，まあまあ美味しいが，とびきりではない。 おばあさんである女将さんは，明るい，話し好きのかただ。 部屋じゅう，そして宿じゅう，いろんなものが，また変なものが，置いてあったり，掲げられていたり，貼ってあったりする。 私は，この宿が面白かったが，口コミを読むと，腹が立った人もいたようだ。 寒い日の宿泊は，寒さが厳しいかもしれない。 風のない暑い日は，寝苦しいかも。 暖房器具はある。 しかし，エアコンがない…… また，あちこち音が響くので，客が多い日も快適ではないかもしれない。
