My wife and I stayed for 2 nights in a suite for our anniversary. The good stuff - the room was spectacular, the views were great, parking and an EV charger were very handy, the treatments in the spa were mixed (one excellent, two average), the afternoon tea was below average but was priced accordingly and the building is nice with some nooks for reading. For the mini-moon package, the room was beautifully adorned. The less good stuff - to get to the suites, you have to walk through the spa. Very strange hanging around in your robe in the spa while a couple trundles through with their luggage. Dinner was not great. My vegetarian wife had her goats cheese wrapped in ham and the sirloin steak was quite fatty. Breakfast was served in the room with small things missing each day like the honey for honey/yogurt/fruit. Charging guests an extra €25/30 to use access the spa when you're paying €1,000 for two nights feels cheap. The walls in places, particularly around the stairs, were chipped and damaged. It made the place feel so aged. One of the cleaners wiped down the ladies changing room floor with a used towel from the laundry basket, which would be washed and then used on someone's body? The robes in the bedroom for the spa were so worn and tatty like a towel that had been through the wash a hundred times. The masseuse was late, which was fine, but my wife had to go look for her and the manager said she's been delayed with another client. However, when the masseuse came out, she said she hadn't been told there was a client waiting. We're not sure why anyone would lie, we were in no rush. Overall, we spent €1,500 for the weekend and expected a higher standard than we received. It's no wonder the majority of the awards they proudly display are from 2009/2010. Unfortunately, we wouldn't go back.
