I stayed for five nights while attending a conference in Bucharest. My room, and the hotel in general, was extremely comfortable and clean, and well-maintained. The location, a few steps off Calea Victoriei, could not be improved upon — central and close to just about everything. The photos accurately represent the room I had (except that fortunately my room didn't not have the tied-back curtain that frames the headboard in the photo here). My room overlooked a large courtyard covered with a glass roof . The downside was that I had to check the internet to learn whether it was raining or not, but the positive side was the fact that the room was extremely quiet. And sunlight does penetrate the courtyard and room. It was far from dark. And the curtains did a much better job of blacking out the room at night than I am used to in hotels. The only problems: a finicky shower in which the tiniest adjustments could take the water temperature from cold to dangerously hot, and whose handset sprayed in more directions than it should. On the other hand, the water pressure was, if anything, excessive -- unusual in hotels. Also, breakfast was not great. The coffee that comes out of their machine was not particular high in caffeine, and honestly some of the baked goods were stale. This could easily be improved. Variety was ok. But overall, I was very comfortable in the Capşa hotel, and would happily return. The staff was helpful and friendly throughout my stay as well.

While advertised as a 5-star hotel, my recent experience unfortunately did not meet expectations for service or room quality. Upon check-in, the room had not been thoroughly cleaned from the previous guests, with objects left behind including a stuffed animal, which created an unsettling environment. The carpet was extremely dusty and there was a musty smell, indicating the room had not been well cared for. During our hotel restaurant reservation, we were initially refused seating by a rude waiter for no reason and only after speaking with a manager were we able to be seated. The room's bathroom had several concerning maintenance issues - the bathtub leaked substantially on the floor during use to the point we had to use all the existing towels to mop up the water. The bathwater was also yellow in color when first run (see picture). We requested two additional clean towels from housekeeping given the flooding issues but when checking out, the front desk employee Florian accused us of stealing them and charged us inappropriately. Given these cleanliness, maintenance and customer service issues, I cannot recommend staying here until standards improve. For the price paid, I expected better care and hospitality. Please see attached photos documenting some of the problems encountered during my stay. Management should address these types of lapses to provide guests with a more positive 5-star experience fitting of the hotel's luxury rating and pricing.

This hotel still has atmosphere, but mainly due to the coffee and cake shop where the most fantastic people are always ready to give you an outstanding experience. The hotel and the rooms are worn down.

The structure itself is nice but in winter if you find a room inside without a window facing the outside it's an oven...temperatures over 30 degrees...

The entrance is a little hard to find. It's around the right hand side as you face the hotel. The front desk staff at all the hotels I've stayed at in other Romanian cities were very friendly, but this hotel was a bit mechanical, and I wonder if it's because it's the capital. (Some were friendly, but some never smiled...) The interior of the room is luxurious like old furniture, but it may feel a bit oppressive because of that. Also, the bathroom is small, so your legs will hit the sink when you sit on the toilet, and if you spill even a little hot water from the bathtub, the whole bathroom will be flooded. The back of the hair dryer provided is also broken, and if you accidentally put your finger in it, you could be seriously injured. I wonder why they leave it like that... There are restaurants and supermarkets nearby, so the location is not bad, but you need to walk about 20 minutes to tourist spots such as the Palace of the People. The breakfast is not bad, but it's not of 5-star hotel quality, so you should think of it as a 4-star hotel. However, when I asked if I could check out late because I was feeling unwell, the original check-out time was 12:00, and they let me stay until 1:30 for free, which I appreciated. (Of course, they don't always do that, but I was feeling very unwell at the time, so it was very helpful.) Overall, it's not a bad hotel, but it may not be of 5-star quality. If you think of it as about 4-star, you'll be fine.

This is a grand old hotel that has seen better days. The carpets were clean, but badly stained and worn in places. The front desk was helpful. The breakfast was minimal as there seemed to be very few guests in the hotel.

The hotel was situated so, that we could visit almost everyhting by walking. The building was old and very valuable. Everything went without any problems.

I love that this is in the heart of Old Bucharest. Everything is within walking distance.
