De Chai Colonial Hotel & Spa Reviews

The staff at De Chai were incredible and made us feel so welcome during our stay. They are very accommodating and want to ensure you have an awesome time. The buffet breakfast had a lot of options from western food to Thai food and plenty of drink options. I would also recommend having dinner at the on-site restaurant too. The pool has a bar right next to it with a great cocktail menu. The location is very easy to walk around to get to markets or to find a Tuk-Tuk. There is also a tourist centre right next door to help book activities for you.

Good stay. Always good to see hotels have been able to accommodate people who are less accessible abled.

Really enjoyed my stay here! The hotel staff are super friendly and the food & drinks are delicious. Great location as well in terms of proximity to the center and walking distance to most things, restaurants and bars included.

Probably one of the best hotels for value. Friendly service staff and extremely prompt services. Breakfast with a wide variety and easy enough to navigate around from the hotel

This is the second time myself and my wife have stayed in this well managed hotel. The first time was in December 22 on our first vacation to Chiang Mai. The comfort and amenities of our room together with the polite friendliness of all staff left a lasting impression on both of us. We enjoyed Chiang Mai and decided to return again in June this year. We booked our stay with the same hotel for 10 nights. We were not disappointed. During our stay I introduced myself to David, the hotel manager. I was impressed with his friendly and genuine interest in the comfort of his guests. To his credit this is a reflection which is demonstrated by hotel staff. If in the future we decide to return to Chiang Mai I we would have no hesitation in staying at this hotel.

Service was good, staffs are friendly and welcoming. The location was located at a somewhat secluded location but still acceptable as we could use Grab to get going. However the shower was a big letdown. The water was either too hot or too cold, we cant adjust it to warm. We booked 3 rooms and all rooms have this problem. The staff even checked the other rooms and informed the other rooms have the same problem as well. Although the staff was trying to help in every way he can, but still couldn’t solve the problem. So 5/5 for service and attitude, but 1/5 for water heater

For us, the location was great, as it was quiet, yet close enough to the ancient city. For others, the 200m walk may be too much. The breakfast was good. Staff was helpful and friendly. Wifi was good. The only bothersome aspect was the water pressure and temperature fluctuated wildly during each shower. The room size, comfort and design was good.

Bad experience in the room

The location is excellent. I always stay at guesthouses around here, but this time I went on a family trip, so I decided to stay here. Convenient to go anywhere. It takes less than 10 minutes to walk to Thapae Gate and about 10 minutes to Warorot Market. The level of massage at the temple right next door (Wat Mahawan) is extremely high. The staff are also very kind. I wanted to go into the pool, but the pool was occupied by Westerners and then it became cloudy and there was something floating in it, so I couldn't put my kids in it. disappointing. The cat that came to the poolside of the hotel at night was so cute. I want to stay here again.

The location is excellent, quiet in the bustle. The hotel room is large and clean, but the sound insulation is not good. The sound of opening and closing the door next door is very noisy. The air conditioner is noisy, which affects sleep. The room is pretty good

The first impression was good. We made several reservations and agreed not to change rooms during the stay. The room was OK, but after the first reservation expired, we were notified to change rooms. This was depressing. The front desk said ******** on the day of check-in. We changed rooms, but the new room was very bad, old, not on the same floor, and the difference was huge. It was really old. There were also several cockroaches. The hotel agreed to change back to the previous room type only after the cockroaches lived in it. I refunded half of the night's money and left my bank card number with the hotel. As a result, they didn't refund it for several months. Ctrip intervened twice before Ctrip refunded it on my behalf. Rubbish hotel, it's better to stay in a small hotel when you go to Chiang Mai

After returning from the night market at around 11 o'clock, the power suddenly went out while I was taking a shower, and the hot water was gone. I called the front desk but no one answered. I could only dry myself, dress and go downstairs to notify the front desk. After a while, the front desk staff came to check and notified the construction staff to come for repairs. After that, no relevant person in charge came to communicate or apologize. In addition, when arriving and leaving the hotel, the suitcase was very heavy, and no one helped to carry the suitcase or greeted me at the door. I have stayed in various hotels in Chiang Mai, and this is indeed the one with the coldest service! Only for service, real feedback!
