"the staff is friendly, you can get clean towels without a fee every day. The lobby has hot water/tea, coffee and sweet snacks options. The rooms are quite small, but everything is clean enough. Bus station is right next to the hotel and it only takes 15 min to reach the city center, where day pass costs 5£ and buses 2,2A etc are there almost every 3 mins."
"Very good reviews!
Facilities: First of all, the hotel has free parking spaces, just behind the hotel, a separate small courtyard, which can park about 10 cars. We went there in the off-season and were very happy to have many empty spaces. For the UK, where parking fees are expensive, it saves a lot of money. But you can only park until 12 noon when you leave the hotel, so don't take up more parking spaces.
Service: The grandfather at the hotel front desk was very friendly and explained the check-in requirements to us in a slow pace. The hotel has no elevator and needs to climb the stairs. We are on the top floor attic, and the stairs are narrow, which is not very friendly for large suitcases, but fortunately the room is spacious and the heating is sufficient, so it is very comfortable to stay for a few days.
Environment: It takes more than ten minutes to walk to the city of Oxford, and there are many pedestrians and cars along the way, so it is not unsafe. In short, it is highly recommended."
"Everything about the hotel was great, except for its slightly remote location. The room was spacious enough, the staff had a wonderful attitude, and there's a gas station nearby, along with a KFC, Starbucks, and two convenience stores, making shopping and dining quite convenient. The super large bed was incredibly comfortable!"
"The hotel is situated in a quiet residential area, offering a peaceful environment. It's incredibly convenient, being just a 10-minute walk from Magdalen College, Oxford University. Our room featured a large skylight, which we loved opening in the mornings to let in fresh air and enjoy views of the sky and surroundings. The staff were fantastic, warmly assisting us with our luggage storage. A special highlight was the unique lift, which our children absolutely adored. We truly hope to stay here again!"
"This hotel is just next to the Queen's Lane bus stop. Oxford Tube, and the mega bus stop there. Therefore it is very convenient to go out and into Oxford. It is close to the University as well.
The only inconvenience is that there are steps everywhere, from the entrance to the reception, and to my room. This probably a general problem with old buildings in UK. Otherwise no other complains about the service.
The bedding are very conformable - this is definitely a highlight."
"The location is first class and the service is very good, but the old house does not have an elevator.
Relying on the core commercial street, extremely convenient at the same time, it is a bit noisy at night.
No air conditioning, no problem with the current temperature. The ventilation in the bathroom needs to be improved."
"Would highly recommend, very friendly and helpful staff. We had the room with castle view, which was lovely. Nespresso machine and extra options for hot drinks was great. Breakfast was excellent, lots of choice and delicious. We will stay here again for sure."
"The hotel has an excellent location, artistic style, relatively new room facilities, very clean and tidy, and it was a pleasure to stay! Check in at 15:00. We arrived early. We originally planned to store our luggage first, but we were allowed to check in directly. Thank you very much!"
"Set in a building dating back to 1660, the hotel features 2 terraces, a new resident garden library, a restaurant and a bar. It is a 5-minute walk from the centre of Oxford. The hotel’s en suite rooms have a desk, storage space, flat-screen TV, air conditioning, hairdryer and free toiletries. Open for breakfast until late in the evening, Parsonage Bar & Grill serves authentic British cuisine with a modern twist. It is a 17-minute walk from Oxford Train Station and a 3-minute walk from Keble College and Somerville College."
"Good location – close to town but not right in the centre, which worked well. Room was fine, bathroom and shower all good, and the air con worked properly. Parking was also a big plus."

Very Good
GGuest Uservery nice boutique hotel with a good bar and restaurant below. The room nice, clean, minimalist but good furniture and decent shower. Only one complaint - if you are not a fan of capsule coffee (and I am definitely not) and you just want a cup of tea, it's a pain to have to google the coffee machine to work out how to use it when just a simple kettle would have been fine. Just 4 for the location because of the chaos at the Botley road bridge which is going on till this time next year at least! Lovely breakfast menu with good service.
GGuest UserWe were attending a wedding in Oxford and the city centre hotels were very expensive. The reviews for the Black Boy were good so we booked. It was a joy to stay here and we had a fabulous weekend.. Great location - about 10 mins in taxi from centre and bus stop about 5 mins or so walk. Buses went to the city centre and railway station. The room was lovely, as were the welcoming staff. Breakfasts were very good and the pub had a nice atmosphere and an outside garden area. Would recommend to anyone wanting to stay in Oxford.
GGuest UserWe loved staying at the Mad hatter. The location is only 10-15 mins from the city centre, staff was ever so helpful, and the room is very atmospheric, it felt incredibly lush without being over the top and tacky. The room was very clean and felt brand new. Only downside is the karaoke bar downstairs, but they kindly provide earplugs and anyway it stops early. We would definitely book it again.
GGuest UserFantastic place for a quiet stay within a 25-minute walk of Oxford city centre. The accommodation is clean, spacious, and well-maintained, making it a truly relaxing retreat. We had to be up early in the morning, but the location was very quiet. Mandy who assisted us with check in was incredibly professional and accommodating, going above and beyond to ensure a comfortable experience. Highly recommend this gem.
GGuest UserThe location of the hotel is relatively remote, although there is a bus at the door, it is still not convenient. Surrounding supermarkets and restaurants are relatively far away
The room was clean and tidy, but the top floor was stuffy in summer and the soundproofing was not good. There is no elevator, it is troublesome to drag a heavy suitcase, there is no refrigerator and other facilities, no breakfast, no refrigerator...
The luggage is too heavy, the front desk will help run the plum, the attitude is warm
KKar Yee AvaLove the supermarket right next to the hotel and there is public bus outside the hotel to go to city center. Typical English breakfast and the food choice is the same every day.
There is a retail park opposite the hotel but only have 4-5 shops like Decathlon, Sport Direct & B&Q etc.
GGuest UserThe staff there were very enthusiastic and friendly, and the room was clean and tidy. The house's location is perfect, close to the train station, and very convenient. The power sockets in the room are a bit few, it is inconvenient to can not charge at the bedside.
AAnonymous UserThe hotel is located in the center of Oxford, about 10 minutes' walk from the bus station. There are several chain supermarkets near the bus station, which is quite convenient. A refrigerator and a microwave are provided in the room, and the heating is sufficient. The toilet drains slowly, and the water will overflow if you are not careful when taking a shower.
GGuest UserThe house has a relatively large backyard, which can park several cars. Since we rented a car and drove around the UK, we had to find a yard where we could park. It is close to Oxford University and you can walk there. The surrounding environment is very quiet and the room is very clean. We are a family of three and three beds are very convenient.
