Comfortable old pub in quiet location A historic and picturesque pub and my room no.4 was spacious with an en-suite bathroom featuring a bath and shower. On a quiet street in the village with a large garden. I reported the hit tap in the wash basin was loose and 2 of 3 bulbs in the central light weren't working (I'm sure this will have been rectified quickly).

Excellent real ale country pub with rooms Lovely real ale country pub with rooms. Very rustic but with all home comforts and little extras. Great view over countryside with cows grazing nearby. Breakfast freshly cooked and generous portions. Used as overnight stay following wedding at Crowcombe court (5 mins walk) but also great for walkers etc exploring the Exmoor area. Highly recommend

4 of us stayed at the Carew Arms for one night to break our journey. The best description is that there is no attempt to disguise or mask the pub's age or history, which is a definite plus. It has the feel of a pub that has stood at the heart of the village for 5 centuries, and still serves it's local community as it always has. The food is simple but hearty, and the snug bar is comfortable, with some excellent local ales. Recommended!

Upon arrival I thought it was closed as the front sign wasnt there and the frame broken and hanging off, going through the first door you are met with an old charity shop smell. Staff are lovely, the beds were clean but the toilet brush holder was disgusting and the bathroom could do with a good spruce up even the bath may had mould on it If this place was given a make over or just a good clean and paint it would be great, needs some tlc Breakfast was lovely and so we're the staff

This is a very old pub in a relatively poor state of repair. While I understand the difficulties associated with any attempt to modernise what is probably a listed building, there can be no excuse for the somewhat dilapidated state of the hotel. My room was clean and quite spacious, but in need of decoration and some design changes e.g. it needed at least one chair and a better place to hang one’s clothes. The bathroom was in an adjacent room and was clean and functional, but several of the fittings were damaged and needed repair or replacement. The breakfast was excellent and good value for money. The staff were all friendly and helpful. One guest had used the word “quirky” in the guest comments book. I certainly agree with that. It could be so much more.

A great welcome from landlord, Michael as we were walking in. We were just there for an evening drink after a walk on the Quantocks and Michael outlined for us the range of meals and opening hours. We were cordially invited to this year's beer festival to be held at the pub at the weekend, in the spacious pub garden. From previous visits, i remembered the front snug bar, which has a great atmosphere. The Carew Arms is ideal for meals out for families and friends within a 5-mie radius of Crowcombe and is ideal for the holiday maker travelling west on the A358 towards Minehead. It is less than 5 mins off this road.

We stayed here at the weekend whilst attending a wedding at nearby Crowcombe Court. First, The Carew Arms is not The Hilton and some may find the it all a bit shabby but it is a country paub with an atmosphere all its own and should be enjoyed for that. The room was a bit tired but the bed was huge and very comfortable and lashings of hot water for washing and bathing. We had two breakfasts and Sunday roast and the food was very good. All local produce apparently and I can honestly say the full English breakfast was probably one of the best I have ever had. The suasages and bacon were particularly tasty and the eggs an tomatoes fresh and full of flavour. The coffee was good too. As for the Sunday lunch, again, locally sourced meats that were full of flavour and a decent selection of vegetables. High spot - the public bar. It just oozes character without the help of an interior designer and offers a decent selection of beers and ciders. Clearly this is a pub that has a good number of regulars which gives the place a strong local character. So as a hotel perhaps not everyone's cup of tea but we loved it and would gladly return.
